Artist Bio

Influences:   50+ years of: listening to all genres of music, loving all kinds of people, leaning about many interesting things, living life fully, and letting my muse guide me along the way.

FAWM number five.

Played some instruments long ago. Was away from music for many, many years as I focused on family and career for most of my adult life. Was happy to re-connect with my music interests and passion five years ago when inspired by some wonderful Interactions with local musicians.

Joined FAWM at that time and started learning to write lyrics. Went to Ladies Rock Camp in Madison a few years ago and began playing drums and have tried to pick up other instruments again. Formed and play in a local rock band with other women over 50. Still have teenagers at home, a busy full-time plus job, and community obligations (more than ever after recent election), so music and FAWM are squeezed in around the edges of this wonderful rich and crazy life.

I have had wonderful FAWM collaborations in the past that have led to songs on CDs and EPs and some great friendships.

Looking foreword to posting some lyrics, reading, listening, and commenting on as many songs as I possibly can, and collaborating widely! I love collaborating with people on FAWM! Open to all styles and collaborative relationships. I'm easy!

Hoping you have a great FAWM!!!

Just so you know...I composed I would say one of my best ballads ever and it got lost when my PC unit died on me during the second week, I believe. I tried to duplicate it sense, but it just wasn't the same. I do plan to rectify that in the coming months!

  • @matthew62  Mar 14

Thanks for your kind comments on places you and I....
    Very much appreciated.
Also congrats on turning out so many songs. Very productive.

  • @ladyred Mar 12

    Thanks for your comments! <3

  • @squeakmouse73 Mar 8

Hello, my almost neighbor. Just dropping by to say thank you for all your encouragement.

  • @marthie Mar 8

Who will you love today is part of my "Babylon: The end of the World as we know it - project" thanks! If you want to look at that particular playlist(some I still need to upload) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

  • @ihelen  Mar 8

Thanks for commenting on my math song! I didn't really get it either - had to read it all from a sheet in front of me. πŸ˜‰

  • @marthie Mar 8

Now we need to organize your songs in alphabetical order🀣

  • @kathym  Mar 6

Seriously --- did you do anything besides write in February!!! WOW did you do a great job! Thank you for commenting on Starbird. πŸ˜€

  • @barbara  Mar 6

Liz, you just gave me such a nice compliment! No, I'm not a writer by profession. I have a master's degree in counseling and earn my bread and butter more by bookkeeping, accounting, and database management for small business. But that question made me feel 10 feet tall! I think being a writer is one of the few things that could qualify as having been a true dream or a calling. Had I not been so introverted and self-doubting, I might have been an English major instead of a Psych major. Your question will be lodged forever in my memory banks of support as an affirmation!

  • @jamkar  Mar 5

Thanks once again Liz for your supportive and knowledgeable comments this FAWM!

  • @barbara  Mar 5

Thank you for spoiling me with comments yesterday!!
With 126 up there, do you have any song numbers you'd particularly like some attention for? I'm happy to respond to pointing. πŸ‘†πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‡

  • @zecoop  Mar 5

Wow..... thank you so much for all the love, listening time and comments! I sincerely appreciate it. And wow again! You had an amazing FAWM. Looking forward to catching up on it! πŸ˜€

  • @russiasaturn  Mar 2

Thank you for your kind comments on several of my songs! They are much appreciated πŸ˜€

  • @williamhaight Mar 2

    Sounds good. Please add me

  • @audrey  Mar 1

Thank you for your kind words on "Winding Path", and to answer your question, the name of the course is "Write Like Mozart". It's offered on Coursera and it's free, unless you want a certificate. They rerun it all the time, and allow you to switch sessions. I started it two sessions ago, but couldn't get the final assignment done in time, so I postponed it by switching sessions (twice). There's a lot of material covered in the course, and I needed time to review before tackling that assignment. It's an excellent course. Oh, and thank you for your offer of a live track of the flute part. How kind, and OF COURSE I'd love a live track of it. How exciting! Now that FAWM is over, can we still do this, and how can I get my score to you?

  • @bethdesombre  Mar 1

Wow, that's a lot of songs. I can't imagine how you did it!

  • @jwhanberry  Mar 1

That's a lot of lyrics you put out. Good FAWM. You just missed posting the very last song. Glad I could help with a couple of them. It's been great fun skirmishing and commenting back and forth. Now to clean up some of those sketchy demos! Have a great rest of your year.

  • @robs  Mar 1

Liz! 124, where to begin? That's even more than you wrote during last year 50/90 in 3 months πŸ˜€. We'll have to do something together at the next 50/90!

  • @the3queens Mar 1

You better just add me as collaborator. It's past midnite here.

  • @valeriecox  Mar 1

That is not me playing drums. My finale was shipped to be my opener. I started that song at the beginning of FAWM. I wanted to write a good one about rockin your socks off to start the whole shebang. I never liked the bridge though, so I went back tonight to fix it up.

  • @darkmantle  Mar 1

Soooo glad you like my take on Choose Love! always scary to bring someone else's lyrics to life. πŸ™‚

  • @darkmantle  Mar 1

    Choose Love is up!!!

  • @colgoo  Feb 28

I was not offended, really. Most people see me as straight (as I am happily married to a man in a monogamous relationship). Just letting you know why those lyrics hit me so profoundly.

I don't think I'll have time to do music for more of your songs since we have only a few short hours left and my family would like some attention, but maybe I can do 1-2 more between now and 50/90, just so you can have a tune for them. I do look forward to future collaboration with you. Some day, we've gotta meet up because I think we could be really good real-life friends. I have had to restrain myself to not read all of your lyrics, because I would be sorely tempted to set all of them to music!!!

  • @helenseviltwin  Feb 28

Yeah, sorry. Between being fairly busy and feeling a real need to reconnect with a few folks after hoops' passing, I've not really been reaching out to many collaborators. Actually fairly surprised how much I got done this month.

  • @reisupstudio  Feb 28

Wow! Congrats on all this creativity!! I had the chance to record my song today that you commented on a while back called Memory Care. I hope you like it! Til next FAWM...be well!

  • @colgoo  Feb 28

I'm so touched by your post on the forum...but I do want to clarify with you that I am bisexual. (I prefer the term polysexual.) I was in a lesbian relationship for seven years before I met my husband. Sexuality goes beyond current relationship status, as I am sure you know...but I definitely identified very powerfully with your lyrics on that song.

  • @jcooper  Feb 28

have recorded something for "Enough (Cement shoes)" will try to mix and post tomorrow before the site closes!!!

  • @factorytale Feb 28

Ok. I try tonight. Can't wait. My children just have to sleep First.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

I have a demo for Changing Lanes together. Will email to you-- let me know if it's acceptable and I'll upload later today!

  • @williamhaight Feb 28

Love your lyrics. I'll work on some with your permission. I find the music part much easier. Please check out my work if you have the time. I have a song I would like to collaborate on with the lyrics. I have the first verse/ chorus. Please check it out also and see if you would be interested. It's called 'Did you sell your soul to the devil, Mike Pence?'.
Anyway, Great FAWM! What a ton of songs.

  • @scubed  Feb 28

Liz, thank you so much for your lovely comments on "Umbrella Upside Down" and "Books of Stuff I Used to Know"! I so very much appreciate it. πŸ˜€

114 and counting - you are Wonder Woman!! ❀️ I'll be stopping by in the coming days to hear more of your songs - I'm really looking forward to that!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 28

Thank you for such a nice compliment! You are amazing too -I am often thinking "dang I wish I could write like her!"

  • @darcistrutt  Feb 28

I emailed you my demo for Super! Hope you like it. πŸ˜€ It was my very first song with "Luke", my new tenor Luna uke!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 27

I'll give Changing Lanes a try this evening. Cheers!

  • @helenseviltwin  Feb 27

I assure you, my soundboard is not judgemental of your eating, although it might be obsessed with food.

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 27

Thank you for listening to Like A Brick and for busting my ZONG πŸ˜€ I have appreciated all your comments this FAWM!

  • @darcistrutt  Feb 27

I am still hoping to get to "super". If someone else is interested don't hold it for me...but I did get a new tenor ukulele today and thought I'd break it in with our colab.

  • @marvsmooth  Feb 27

As if I'd forget about you πŸ˜€

I've put a little electric piano idea down so far.

  • @jcooper  Feb 27

Got something for conversation after thirty years. Will record tomorrow πŸ˜€

  • @jcooper  Feb 27

I could maybe try one more. Technically I am only on 13 because there are a few duplicates. Which lyrics did you have in mind?

  • @matthew62  Feb 27

Thanks for your comments on all our brittle words. Much appreciated.
Sorry for the delayed response, as well as getting to hear your stuff, especially since I've had you watch-listed since last year.

  • @sherrycanary  Feb 27

You have so giving and I really feel supported by you as a writer, and since I admire your work, I take it as high compliment.
I invite you to visit my page and listen to It Wasn't Me. Live band. I especially want you to hear it because I think you will like it...and I want to share it with special people I have been connecting with

  • @darkmantle  Feb 26

hahahaha. I just have a voice and musical preference that can go to the angry spectrum easily.

    I'm generally a nice guy, I think... Ask @debs for a neutral opinion. 🀣 😝

  • @barbara  Feb 26

Thank you, Liz! I didn't think there was much hope I could summon that kind of boppy sound. I was pleasantly surprised, and I very much appreciate your thumbs up vote!

  • @darkmantle  Feb 26

    Brand new day is up!

  • @debs  Feb 26

Hahaha! The funny thing is that nothing in particular * is * happening which is another reason I was like, "Huh?" when the song came out. 😁

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 26

It's up there, my friend. You can edit any little stuff I put up there. I really do hope I did you justice. It wasn't perfect, as it was done in one take, and I stumbled over myself a bit.

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 26

Thanks for visiting my song "Reflection"!

  • @debs  Feb 26

Thanks for your comment, dahling! I must admit, the interpretations of Purpose of You so far are completely not what I was intending or expecting, but it's making me look at it a whole bunch of different ways! 😁

  • @darkmantle  Feb 25

I'm also eyeballing "Choose Love" as one I might be able to work with. πŸ™‚

  • @cindyrella  Feb 25

Thanks for listening to Sculpture. You can still do it as well of course. πŸ˜€

  • @kathym  Feb 25

WAIT!!! This is FEBRUARY, right? Not 5090? HOLY COW! Thank you for the support on the skirmish song. I hoped to take it in the direction of love and life vs. love and loss.

  • @tiller2  Feb 25

thank you, Elizabeth, re. One Day You'll Understand. Btw that quote about "constellation of compromises" I've been holding since about 1987, when a boss said it to me. Finally used it, and with my own life experience behind it!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 25

Structurally, Bob (title also picked to be a palindrome!) was intended to be 100% symmetrical (which I boo-booed in recording, a little) so I reversed the whole thing at the end. It was a really quick but fun song to write. Thanks for being such a wonderful good sport with all the skirmishes I've run this year!

  • @quork  Feb 24

Thank you for your wonderful comment about "Trumpet Lesson". It was a fun song to write.

  • @sherrycanary  Feb 24

Liz, thank you for the support of my music. I appreciate all the time you spent listening. That you liked them means a lot coming from you.
Hopefully a collab again next year

  • @marthie Feb 24

How do you get the collaboration to connect? I know have two 'in my dreams'?

  • @marthie Feb 24

    youtu.be/gsHp1H_hDuU. In my dreams

  • @yam655  Feb 23

Um... so, I just realized I never congratulated you on entering the Century Club. Better hundreds of posts late than never? 😏

Congratulations on making it to the Century Club! πŸ˜€

Over 80 songs and over 600 song comments, you're clearly proving a person doesn't need to sacrifice one for the other. πŸ˜€

  • @donna  Feb 23

Thank you for your comment on 'The Bus…'. πŸ˜€
I agree about the need for two-sided compassion/empathy. πŸ˜€ A workshop would have been in order for the driver. I understood even then the need for rules, but the driver's manner with regard to the young man was overwhelmingly inappropriate. The man simply wanted to do the belt up by himself.
Reminds me now of an incident of several years ago.
It was a sweltering day in July, and I'd just come back from the hospital after having a cast put on my fractured left wrist. I got on the bus, and just as the bus began to pull away from the station I realised my wallet was gone from my bag. I knew I must have dropped it while i was rifling throough my bag for the bus pass. I rushed to the driver, explained the situation, and asked him to let me out. He refused, even though the bus was still within the station, and hadn't even turned into the street yet. I had to wait until the next stop, and then rush back to the station. The wallet, of course, was gone. I then had to rush to the bank to get cash to pay for a taxi to the police station (to report the loss of my residency permit), and then rush home to cancel other cards. It was a nightmare. The driver would have needed only about 5 seconds to open the door.

  • @judypie Feb 22

Haha thanks so much for listening to my song. She is indeed all of those things! Everyday is an adventure 😁

  • @scubed  Feb 21

Thank you so much for your very kind words on "I See Your Face"! I really appreciate it.

    80 and counting - you ROCK! πŸ˜€

  • @gizmoblacksmith  Feb 21

Hi Elizabeth - Thanks for listening to my song Letter. Much to my surprise that's my wife's favorite song of mine this FAWM! I have to say you are among the most prolific FAWMers I've ever seen! Keep it up! BTW, I see you are in Madison, I was there in the summer of 2012 opening the Leonard Cohen Event, do you know my friends Anne and Joe Way, they live in Madison.

  • @darkmantle  Feb 21

Thanks for the comments on "All That I Need" It wasn't showing on my phone so I missed it last night!

Never thought of it as a "rush of emotion" but that is a great side effect of what I was going for!

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 21

Thank you for all your encouraging comments and support on my various superskirmish ramblings last weekend. It was great fun playing with you and the other folks for all those hours. Have a great week.

  • @darkmantle  Feb 21

The comment on oozing is about the song me and @debs. Collaborated on. Listen and it makes sense. πŸ˜ƒ

  • @mrjoshuamclean Feb 20

I'm going for traditional dance pop / vocal trance, so something along the lines of an uplifting love song would work well. πŸ˜€

  • @mrjoshuamclean Feb 20

Wow Liz, this is a massive wall of music and lyrics. And people keep eating up the ones I want to work on!

Any interest in doing a dance pop / vocal trance collab? I need to exercise my pipes but lyrics are my weakness. 😁

  • @cindyrella  Feb 20

Thanks for your sweet comment on my memory. I thought I had a lot of songs-but you are 20 ahead! A writing machine!

  • @crisp1  Feb 20

Thanks for the nice comments on In the Gathering Dark and In the Quiet. Maybe I should write some more lyrics titled In the...??? BTW, how have you written so much?!? Amazing productivity and talent.

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 20

Thank you for your kind words on Gift Girl - much appreciated!

  • @highmountain Feb 20

Hello, thank you for leaving a comment! It's difficult to see how you could find the time. 78 songs! Do you think you can keep up the production of four a day and finish with 112? 😁

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 20

Liz, you made me cry today. You really understood what I wrote and I think I pour a little of my heart and soul into things and I think you saw it and I just thank you because your comment meant the world to me and I appreciate you taking your time to not only listen, but to take it in. Hugs.

  • @tonyw  Feb 19

Thanks for the kind words about 'My Baby (1975)'. You will have to whisper the secret of how to be so prolific a writer....

  • @jamkar  Feb 19

Hey thanks Liz for the kind comments on my collab with Dee!

  • @andybalham Feb 19

Hope you don't mind, but I did a third version of 'Try Alternative Facts'. I've just had a listen and marvelled at the three very different approaches to the subject matter!

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 19

Hey thanks for your lovely comment on I Do Believe In You. Much appreciated as always!

  • @timfatchen  Feb 19

I don't normally do this on soundboards but this once? Thank you Liz for your enthusiastic applause for Long hot nights (collab). Really gave me a lift!

  • @cts  Feb 19

...aaaand just so you'll know, I'm hard at work on the collab. Doing a bit of multi-tasking with folks. I'm determined to finish all requests.

  • @debs  Feb 19

Hahaha! You just made me laugh so hard. I HOPE that's what Beethoven was thinking!

  • @abudabard12514  Feb 19

I'm so thrilled you liked what I was able to come up with for your lyric! Thank you for writing and enjoying it!

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 18

Thank you, thank you for what you said about Loser Lover! It was a fun write and cathartic too. I'm sorry I've not managed to read more of your lyrics yet...FAWM always feels like I'm chasing my tail compared to 50/90 a bit more relaxed!

Hi! Would love to collaborate. How does that work on here?

  • @tiller2  Feb 18

oh, those tapes--violin mom inside info! "cassette tapes" didn't really compute. If "grace" works and is more generally accessible, I'm happy

Holy crap! 65?! I am slacking!!! Thanks for visiting and reading/listening. I always enjoy your writes and look forward to hearing them! (It might take a while, though.... 65?!)

Thanks for your comments on my Brought Me lyric. Yeah, too many don't listen, but a few do I think πŸ˜‰

  • @sjbatavia Feb 18

Thanks for the comment on I Can't Stand You. I was a fun song to write and thankfully is not about anyone I know.

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 18

Thank you for your lovely comment about 'Magnet'. I'm so glad you thought it was good. The girl I wrote it for likes it too, so bonus!

    EDIT [Now up]
Thank you for that lovely comment on "So Many Satellites". I'll have the Therapist's suggested antidote for my maunderings up as soon as I can get its levels right!

Hey Liz - thanks for the comment and listen on Valentine. Much appreciated! Glad you liked Tip of the Iceberg with Wobbie too. She's so fun to collab with.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 17

Kudos for the 500! I'll make 400+ this year, but a far cry from the last two. It's important to have someone way out in front to inspire the rest! You're it this year!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 17

Thanks Liz. It's funny how some scents will take you back, isn't it?

  • @thetau  Feb 16

Wow Talk about over the top - 59 songs already, and you still got half the month left. We all are becoming very jealous.

Thank you Liz, you are very kind.

  • @wacha Feb 2017

Thank you so much for your kind words on my songs. I am always moved every time I read of watch "Aimee & Jaguar". The book is able to give a lot more detail than the movie but they did a very good job adapting it for the screen.

  • @tiller2  Feb 2017

Thanks for your kind comments about "Smoldering Coals"! And congratulations on your win... I can't fathom such productivity but admire it. Cheers.

  • @cynthiawolff  Feb 2017

Oh I have no problem with that and get it totally...
    No hard feelings either way...
these lyrics are so perfect and your take is spot on...
I'll go on to other things until I get the ok...
