Listen to The Really Good Pot Roast and my solo work on Don Campau's No Pidgeonholes Radio in February and March!

http://doncampau.podomatic.com

Holy crap I'm on the radio!

----

Hi! I'm a musician from the suburbs of DC. I've been playing guitar for the last dozen or so years, and have picked up a few other instruments along the way. Stylistically, I have musical multiple personality disorder.

This is my first FAWM, but I've participated in 50/90 the last two years.

I have a solo EP on bandcamp called 'Rolodex' that's mainly acoustic-centered work.
http://markdabney.bandcamp.com

I'm also half of The Really Good Pot Roast (http://www.thereallygoodpotroast.com) with FenderTele71. We have two albums out, the most recent of which is You Have Died of Dysentery, and instrumental / electronica album we completed in December with a lot of material from 50/90. It's free / pay what you want. http://thereallygoodpotroast.bandcamp.com

I'm open to collaborations.

I look forward to writing music, and listening to yours!

Hey Jonnie! Thanks for dropping by. Glad you liked my song and got a chance to play along. That made me very happy. smile
  •  toms 2 months ago
Again, thank you, Mr. Grunge!!! I swear I will return the favor of the listens & comments!!!! smile
  • foxis 2 months ago
Thanks for the comment on my song! I sort of failed FAWM big time this year, so I'm happy you liked my small contribution! smile

Congrats on finishing - I'll definitely try to have a listen as soon as I can! smile
    Cheers!
  •  cloudboy 2 months ago
Jonnie! Thanks for you thoughts on Jenny and The Kraken. It was a fun write. Would like to rework the melody a little. Congrats on your 15!
  •  raygungirls 2 months ago
Thanks for checking out my song "Raise Your Voices". Glad you like it. I'm actually waiting for @jacindae to do vocals on it, instead of mine. I've heard a demo and it's amazing!... My voice has not been at it's best because of continuing sinus issues...
  •  thundereggrules 2 months ago
Thanks for the props on the lyrics!
  • janeukey 2 months ago
hehe - yup, and did the same for 'Hold Me Near' and 'Waterfall'... in fact it's what kiwafruit and I did when we improv'ed 4 or 5 songs one night for 50/90 too - amazing what lengths we will go to just to finish with the right number of songs...actually, a bit crazy now I think of it... wink
  •  sapient 2 months ago
You wanted to hear the "full-on" version of Deb's Elephant - well, here it is smile

  • bck15 2 months ago
Good stuff. A nice mix of styles and creative instrumentation and lyrics.
  •  monty 2 months ago
Thanks for the feedback on Trophies. Becky Warren really made it work.
  • devinhill 2 months ago
    Good job this FAWM!
  • janeukey 2 months ago
Lol - the line flubs were me improvising the lyrics as we recorded Jonnie, no pre-written words here - I had no idea what was going to come out next until it did smile thanks for listening!
  •  downburst 2 months ago
    Wait, it's not "jonnieghrunge"?

Thanks for the comment(s) on "Open." I think it's, if not the best song I've done this FAWM, the one that has the most promise for me. More like that!
  •  balancelost 2 months ago
Thanks for the comment dude, I'm glad the jukebox chose to throw up one of my better attempts. I'll be sure to give yours a listen once I'm done with my sprint finish!
  •  duaneclancy 2 months ago
Works for me smile I don't have a web-site, but if you give me a link to the finished product ... I'll copy it and store it in my secret lair where I keep all my treasures ... I have to keep it secret because those pesky leprachauns keep storing pots of gold there ... Oh no! ... I may have just given away the location ...
  •  duaneclancy 2 months ago
I would be happy for you to include something that I had a part in ... with 10 songs about the dog and skunk, my part has decreased with each rendition. I would like to be included as a contributory artist though smile got to get my kudos somehow
  • janeukey 2 months ago
hiya jonnie! thanks for the comment on 'The Declaration', particularly for the mixing advice - I know less than nothing about that side of things so any assistance I can get to point me in the right direction is gratefully accepted! (particularly since I have a 50min set of my duo recorded off the desk at a venue last weekend to go through and attempt to mix in some way - need all the tips and pointers I can get!!) smile
  • ernie 2 months ago
Hi jonnie, thanks for commenting on my tune Searching For A Melody For You.
  •  ange 2 months ago
Thank you for commenting on 'the old maiden' and for your time smile
  •  standup 2 months ago
Glad you enjoyed "Halfwit", thanks for the comment
  •  darcistrutt 2 months ago
A fellow "skunker" I thought your name looked familiar! Thanks for the comment on Klondike Kate. I was in pretty rough shape when I did that recording...but had 13.5 more songs to go so let it be what it was. I'm glad you saw it's potential even though the demo was less than stellar. Makes me happy to know it brought a smile! Only a couple more songs to go...
  •  fuzzy 2 months ago
Thanx for the comments! Expect some from me soon...
  •  gman 2 months ago
Thanks for the great comment on 'it won't go woosh' Thanks for making my day too! The move will be posted on 3/4/12 - if you liked the song I know that you will love the short film.

  •  kristian 2 months ago
thanks for the nice words, man... oh, and watchlisted!
  • musuko 2 months ago
Thanks a bunch man, I really appreciate it. It was a fun song to make, and I consider a lot of it a happy accident. Very cool that it made it to the fawmtronica podcast! Glad I could join you on that episode. smile
  • styopquoons 2 months ago
    hey. appreciate the comments.

the sample on This Delicious Ooze is from an episode of Futurama. It's from the episode where Fry and Co. tour the Slurm Factory.
  •  chasingandromeda 2 months ago
    Thank YOU for listening!!
  •  timmyriordan 2 months ago
Thanks for the comments on "Search for Love" did finally get the lyrics posted if you're still interested in taking a look. Great songs you're posting!
  •  mikegtz 3 months ago
Mark, I just added our song If You Were Looking to Jango radio (jango.com) so folks out in the world can hear it. The more I listen, the better I like it. Tjhanks so much. It's under my name because I can't list two people in the Jango listing, but maybe you and Fender can create your own radio station there and get some songs heard, too.
  •  toms 3 months ago
Thank you for the nice comment - it can't be longer, FAWM is a time for short songs! big_smile
  •  downburst 3 months ago
Thanks! You know, that song is hard as hell to sing--try saying "unexploded rodent ordnance disposal" a few times. I can hardly even type it. A couple beers in the mix and forget about it.
  •  duaneclancy 3 months ago
Mind? Man I am "orgasmic" at the honor you guys have bestowed on me smile
  •  errol 3 months ago
Thank you! Would be great just to have more discussions like that. big_smile
  •  mikegtz 3 months ago
Really nice, really cool, Jonnie. Gotta learn this for myself at some point but I hope your wife enjoyed it and you continue to get joy from playing it.
  •  mikegtz 3 months ago
Johnny, go ahead and post the song. No need to send it to me ahead of time. Glad you are finding a way to work with it.
  •  errol 3 months ago
Yay! Thanks Fender and Jonnie Grunge! big_smile

Where did I use disentry.... oh I remember... it was on @Debs and @Errol double rainbow song. I knew I used that somewhere.. big_smile
  •  errol 3 months ago
Allloooo Johnnie Grunge! Thanks for your comment on my song, btw! I see that you're trucking along with songs. I'm ... sucking... but that's ok! big_smile

BTW, have I said "You have died of dysentery" is a cool album name? big_smile
  • kiwafruit 3 months ago
    Heya smile
Glad you enjoyed "This could've been a love song" - I must have sung that about 20 times trying the melody right before I got a good recording... Lucky, the Husband was out though, cos I can finally really sing loud now with the new mic big_smile
  •  darcistrutt 3 months ago
You sure can produce for having work interfere... Good to see you again!
  •  mikegtz 3 months ago
Johnny, the song is up there for you, Hope you can work with it and it's not too sappy.
  •  stevenwesleyguiles 3 months ago
What IS your new system, btw? Just curious what your new set up is. Software? Hardware?
  •  mikegtz 3 months ago
Johnny, having you do the music and recording works fine for me. I will get some lyrics for a song to you soon.
  •  mattblick 3 months ago
Yeah a support group to keep going, not to be cured!
  •  mattblick 3 months ago
Brilliant work. Greetings from a fellow "musical multiple personality disorder" sufferer and JoCo fan
  •  mikegtz 3 months ago
We are paired for a song collab-would you prefer lyrics or music?
  • kiwafruit 3 months ago
Thanks for the comment on "Lose Myself" big_smile
If the percussion is a tease, it's only because I don't have anything near me to do anything otherwise sad ... You wanna add to it?! Dooooooo it!!!! Please wink
  •  echovoodoo 3 months ago
Errol was asking for cool music by fawmlings, so of course I recommended your track! It was too nice to ignore.
  •  errol 3 months ago
HUZZZAH! Thanks for the soundboard comment!

And don't worry about long messages... good grief, it is me, after all. big_smile

I still haven't seen Coulton, or Paul and Storm, in concert. Ah well. big_smile

Do you write geek music too? Hmm?
  • janeukey 3 months ago
Thanks for the lovely comment Mark! hehe - I'm a bit addicted to reverb and delay at the moment...might have to go cold turkey at some stage though wink
  •  errol 3 months ago
No problem! Heh, funny you should comment, I just finished a video comment for you. big_smile Will be up... some time...
  •  rosieposy8 3 months ago
thanks so much for your encouraging message!
Am doing a logic course which is touching on production a little.. but my biggest problem is sloppiness, with everything! Beginning to realise everything has to be perfectly in time and in synch to work out!
Logic is a big help, much more exacting than garageband. big_smile

  • pixo 3 months ago
Hey dude, your memory serves you well, I did do a bunch of 1 minute songs last 50/90. For FAWM I'm going to try to do full length songs...but we'll see how that goes.

Absoloodles I'll be interested in a collab big_smile
  • oddaustin 4 months ago
Seeing as we have a few similarities in influence, I went and checked out your EP. I really dig "Stranger Days". May your FAWM be the opposite of absolutely awful!
  • randyxpher 4 months ago
Your CD is in my car changer, and every time it starts, I play This Is Where We Begin 3 or 4 times. Love that song!

  •  echovoodoo 4 months ago
Great to see you on FAWM, man! A collab is a definite possibility, assuming I can get my act together this year. I've been in a bit of a slump (haven't written anything new since July =:-O).

Looking forward to checking out your stuff, too.
