Hey FAWMily!! It’s Georgie from Bromley (nr London), KENT in the U.K. I am a dual national American/Brit and speak 3 languages. I have been writing songs for 26 years, ever since I first held a guitar. I run The SongWrite Inn group on Facebook (which some of you already belong to) a community for songwriters to find inspiration for new songs.
This will be FAWM no 6 for me this year. Woo! Skirmish ahoy! I have been learning ProTools for a 7 weeks so this FAWM will see bigger productions than my previous iPhone recordings. Hit me up for collabs too.
Looking forward to an amazing month with my favourite peeps. 🎢

EDIT: Cool - 4 days in and 7 songs written. Quite pleased with that. Especially as I have to work the next few days and not sure what my output will be. Skirmishing and Aunty sin have kept the muse visiting. Enjoying listening to everyone’s music and realise I’ve commented nearly 100 times - that’s pretty much the amount of listening I’ve done! Keep up the good work!

Week 3: Somewhat astonished that I have finished already and at 18...how did that happen? Last year was my first time to finish at 14! Too much fun...

    Re; your comment "Swamp girls"
Actually, I am not too good with the lyrical end of things. I'm more of a music man... Cindy is going to put lyrics to it. Still will need a vocalist. I usually have several instrumentals that need some vocal and lyrical help.
My normal approach is to create some music and then hope to find the lyrics from elsewhere... either that or start out with a co-op to begin with. Something like jumping out of an airplane and then looking for a parachute on the way down. LOL

You are crazy talented and wonderful! Love your take on the lyrics and morph of the song!!! Really cool drums! Since I am the drummer in my band I want to play this version!!! That would be totally fun!!! My band is very basic and we play out for cokes and beers and a few local fundraisers for girls rock camps - so we don't make money. If you are cool with that let me know and send me, if you have, a lyric chord chart. Awesome!!! Thanks again! I may change the title though as the title is not only not anywhere in the song the driving cool confidence of this amazing morphed version is not so congruent with the title! Ah! The good things that happen when creative genius goes wild!!! 😘

    hey Georgie

    WOW YOU SMASHED IT
    such clarity in the vocal
    such a strong vocal too
love the drum beat in this
the way you slow the lyric down
and then rip it up in the choruses
and the nice gentle sarcastic last line
    you really understood these words
THANK YOU SO MUCH, GEORGIE , TAKE A BOW

  • @msykes71 5 days

I'm very impressed with your massive output. It's brilliant. I don't know how you do it. I've been listening to your song "Excellent" and I like it a lot.

  • @msykes71 5 days

Thanks for your encouragement. I spent an hour or two yesterday jamming through some chords on the guitar, but nothing conclusive coming out of it. As you'll notice I've not uploaded anything as I've not been able to write anything sadly. I'm very disappointed but what can you do?

Ah cheers for the thumbs up @jibbidy34! Yeah, the double meaning on "slight" was intentional. There are so few words to play with in a song I love it when you can make one bring several dimensions of meaning at once. πŸ˜€

i quit smoking 35 years ago. when i lived in north carolina, everytime we passed the cemetary, my dad would point at it and say, there is marlboro country. so there is a secondary meaning there that only a very few will get.

  • @billwhite51 1 week

Hi Georgoe. Than you for your comments on Nothing Lft to Believe. When I do the album version, I am going to take what you said into account and add a buch of drunken voices to the chorus. I never thought of it that way before. lso, the first draft of lurics is about three times as long as what I am singing here, so I may restore some of the unused lines.

  • @karlsburg25  1 week

    Hey! Found you!

  • @billwhite51 2 weeks

Georgie, while being compared to dylan and the doors is certainly flattering, what i was going for in measure of a man was more like allen ginsberg meets john coltrane. its funny, though, how the inspirations of ones youth often trump the emulations of age. i used to write lyrics for schubert type art songs, and the pianist who composed the music always complained, when we did a live show, that i should stop trying to be jim morrison and just sing the song properly. i sure he was right, but i have never been able to shake of the jim morrison spirit that so enlivened my youth. thaks again for listening and for your always pereptive and helpful comments.

  • @headfirstonly  2 weeks

Haha, I always suspected that Gear Acquisition Syndrome was transmissible, now I know it is! Enjoy SD3 - the collection of different drum sounds is *amazing* (but they're the best part of a quarter terabyte to download, eek!)

thanks for your comments on misery in her head. if it sounds honest, its because it is real. a sorta girlfriend from high school who i ran into on the street or in a coffee shop periodically through the years. the last time i saw her, the first words out of her mouth were life is so long. and thus the inspiration. most of the details beyond that are fabricated, but the tragic waste of her life is so real to me.

I really appreciate the kind words! To answer your question, yes I would memorize something like that for a live performance. The way my brain works, I'll forget where I put my cup of coffee but I can remember a lot of lyrics, particularly if I've written them myself.

    Thanks again!

  • @mctown 2 weeks

I answered your question elsewhere, but hey,,looked cool...open to changes...freedom...fawming around... as for my little recording...no, I used samples and such with some toys of mine.... just messing around for a few minutes.... I'm definitely mostly a lyricist...though I do some plugging and publishing ...a little production... a little radio.. booking....etc.

LOL. I take no offense at kind words. πŸ˜€
I find that many of my really awesome songs happen VERY quickly.
I think a lot of great songs happen that way. Which is why I love FAWM so much! πŸ˜€ Working quickly gets you out of your brain and more into your heart/spirit creative place, which I think is a good thing. I like BOTH ways of working, but I find that quick is definitely more fun. πŸ˜€
