RADIO DEBUT! 2/27/12 -- does half a song on a talk station during an interview count? I think so!

Homeschooling mom from Lexington, KY. and music teacher for the Holy Family Co-op. We sing some fun songs! We learn about classical music & composers.

My 4-7th graders will be setting their own lyrics to classical music...in February! They REALLY enjoyed the project last year and have requested to do it again. smile

Who knows what else will come from this computer this year? I've been lazy the past few because life happens. But the schedule around here has changed again, so hopefully I'll be more active. We'll see...

I'M ON SKYPE! Skype name: jennsings

UPDATE JANUARY 25, 2012-- I'm now the Sales Director for Real Life Radio WMJR! Yay!

It is a shame that this Girl Scout Cookie Song is not for the world to hear. Thin Mints are a truly inspirational cookie.

Hey I thought about you during Mass today. NZ appears to be a bit in front of everyone else, at the start of Advent 2010 all of our responses changed to the new responses and now on the 25th of March the priest's words will all be changing so we will be fully in the new Mass. We got married just over a month after the responses changed so we knew that no one would really know the sung Mass parts anyway so we went with these ones http://www.musicforliturgy.org/revised-mass-parts.html
Thought you might be interested, if you're not then that's fine too.
It was so great talking to you!!

    Hi Jenn,
Thanks for stopping by, hope all is going well with your radio gig.
No worries if none of my writing inspires anything - I personally LOVE to write to existing melodies, so if you come across a tune you really want to sing to, but the words just aren't showing themselves, I'd be glad to give it a whirl - but with you being a lyricist too, I'm thinking you wouldn't need any help.LOL

Too late. Now I know who you are. BWA HAHAHAHA!

Thanks very much for the comments on my blues song. Very much appreciated.

Thanks for asking about the Mass. The music director of the largest parish I do music at and I also had the same thoughts. Therefore I did write a Mass, but I didn't really have anyone to work with to make sure it would be a good Mass. Then right before the switch Steve Angrisano published his revised Mass of a Joyful Heart and Matt Maher published Mass of Communion. I'm still interested in the possibility of adding parts of my Mass eventually. Would you and/or your music director be interested in hearing it and giving me some feedback? I feel it might sound too plain.

Ok...I will send you some files later when I get back to my computer...thanks.
  •  dreamscuba 3 months ago
I see another song...will check it out, by the way...I have a couple of songs (rock based) where I could do with some collab with lyrics and vocals...interested? If so, I can give you a link to the music I have recorded so far...thanks.
  •  dreamscuba 3 months ago
Hi Jennifer, thanks for your comments and feel free to work with some vocals on Remembrance...or any over song. Thanks.
  • ballyhoot 3 months ago
I sent you an e-mail, which will provide you with my e-mail address. Thanks!
  • ballyhoot 3 months ago
Hey JenN, good to hear from you about our collab. Looking forward to hearing what you end up with. My guitar track isn't the best either and I'd like to re-record it. If you want, send me what you've already done so I can get an idea of how you approached it, and then I can re-do the guitar with your vocals in mind, perhaps adding a drum loop if it feels like it needs one and if I can find one that's appropriate. If you send it to me before Sunday (or by Sunday), I'd have a good portion of Sunday to create a better backing track for you to add your vocals once you feel better equipped for it.
  •  dreamscuba 3 months ago
Hi Jennifer, let me know what you want to collaborate on...writing lyrics/singing etc...I am looking forward to it. Thanks.
  • ballyhoot 3 months ago
Hey, JenN, thanks for getting back to me. If you can use that music, great. What do you intend to do, in general terms? Write/sing some lyrics? Do some kind of arrangement?
  •  jendistad 3 months ago
By the way Jenn, I never did get contacted. Sorry if I somehow dropped the ball. So, where are your songs? (=

(Oh, and you spell Jenn the same way my sister-in-law spells it.) wink
  • ballyhoot 3 months ago
Me again, JenN. I don't know if you had a chance to listen to the instrumental I mentioned last time, but I ended up taking a stab at writing some lyrics to it and recording a demo. You can hear it here: http://fawm.org/songs/23351/. I'm not entirely happy with it, though, so if you like the tune and wanted to put some different words to it, don't let my own attempt get in your way... smile
  • ballyhoot 3 months ago
Hey JenN, have a listen to this one: http://fawm.org/songs/23139/. It's not the one I mentioned in my previous post; just an instrumental piece I did this morning. Don't have words for it yet, but if you'd like to make it part of our random collab, let me know.
  • ballyhoot 3 months ago
Hey, Jenn, we're apparently paired together for random collaboration. I've got something dark I started working on earlier today -- just lyrics right now, but I'm hoping to work on a guitar track this weekend. Basically about somebody who is haunted by guilt/shame. I don't know if that'd be something you'd be interested in tackling as a vocalist, and maybe I could try to do backing vocals on the chorus (though I haven't written it yet). If that's not your cup of tea, that's cool. I'll work on it on my own or collab with somebody else on it, and meanwhile you and I can come up with something else for our collab. At least, that's my haven't-thought-about-this-very-much opinion on the matter. Hit me up with alternate suggestions if you got 'em.
  •  dreamscuba 3 months ago
Hi Jennifer, thank you for your kind words and your comments on "where the sun is shining". Much appreciated. Please do some backing vocals (or main vocals if you wish). I would be honoured. I will not be able to add them in until I am back at home on my Mac (in 10 days)...but I would love you vocals on the song or any song. Thanks again.

I saw that you needed someone to interview about FAWM on the Christian worship thread. I am not Catholic but I am Catholic friendly and I would love to do the interview if you need someone. This is my first FAWM year though so it will have to be a few weeks in at least so I have some experience from which to answer the questions. I hope all goes well for you. God Bless.

Thanks Jen, that's be awesome! I wanted to try and write a couple of lyrics that are kinda in the style of Taylor, or the band Perry, at least in my mind!
