Bio

UPDATE FEB 15, 2010:
woo hoo! february e.p. writing month rules, long live FEWM!

UPDATE FEB 2, 2010:
please feel free to comment on my demos!! unlike many other fawmers, i've never mastered the guitar, piano, drums, etc. my only real instrument is arrangement/production, so if you have anything good or bad to say, go nuts!

UPDATE JAN 16, 2010:
Dan Fors (http://fawm.org/fawmers/foxis/) and i have formed SCAFA (The Swedish-Canadian Anti-Feast Alliance). all other anti-feast fawmers are welcome to join, regardless of the nation they call home.

UPDATE JAN 13, 2010:
note re: collaborations

it's only mid-january and i've already received several collab invitations from some amazing people, whose music i truly love! i'm super-flattered, and hope to be able to collaborate with each and every one of you!

i just want to let it be known now that i can't agree to any collabs right off the bat. i really want fawm 2010 to be a fun, non-stressful experience for me, and if i feel like i'm either keeping a bunch of people waiting or letting them down entirely, i just won't have fun.

i already promised collabs to face of einstein and hoopshank a year ago, so i will do my utmost to honour those.

everybody else, please don't be offended if i can't immediately respond favourably or affirmatively! if i feel i have the time and i'm not feeling choked/stressed later in the month, i will definitely be in touch... thanks!!

UPDATE JAN 11, 2010:
as we like to say in canada, yes yes y'all.

IQ - nice E.P. But have you ever thought of releasing three singles instead of an E.P? Maybe with a remix version of each.

I'm thinking strictly in money here - I think we could move more units this way.
  •  John Crossman 3 weeks ago
I just checked my watch and I think it's time for some new Quatorze. No, wait, it's a quartz watch.... Seriously though, you've been a listening and commenting beacon (can I say that, does it make sense?) this fawm and I think it's only fair that we demand more iQ tunes!
  •  Mike Debenham 3 weeks ago
There are people who'd be insulted by a Peter Gabriel comparison? Not me. 'Us' is one of the great underrated albums. Always appreciate your comments, IQ.
  •  Charlie Cheney 3 weeks ago
    The melodious cold libation.
  • Candle 3 weeks ago
E.P. writing month? LOL That explains why we're half way through the month & you've only got three songs! smile

FEWMing with Isaac… the new fad smile
  •  Charlie Cheney 1 month ago
Thanks Isaac. Your comments mean a lot to me mister. Big love.
  •  Elaine DiMasi 1 month ago
For my next challenge I think I'm going to lay off the eight voices thing for a bit...
  • KATO NiNETAILS 1 month ago
Hey IQ, thanks for all the comments. This is the 'good' portion of the stuff I did during 50/90:

  • Candle 1 month ago
You, the great movie art lover has never seen 2001 or 2010? I'm surprised… Mind you, Sci-Fi was never really your thing, I guess… I think you'd love 2001, tho… But read the book first or you'll get lost (especially the end).
  • Dan Fors 1 month ago
Hey IQ, many thanks for your comment. I'm trying to catch up on the social/commenting side of FAWM now, so expect comments on the rest of your stuff soonish. Take care..and..viva SCAFA! wink
  •  Steffan Pitzel 1 month ago
IQ - that's one of the nicest comments i've ever gotten on FAWM. You are too kind.

    You FAWK.
  •  caterwauler 1 month ago
    Haha ok smile
Well I'm glad you did after all smile
    Thanks.
  • Evin Wolverton 1 month ago
Thanks, Isaac – totally agree with your prognosis. There have been few comments about the length, so evidently others do too.
  •  caterwauler 1 month ago
Huh, how come you could listen to this song, I had deleted the demo?
Thank you so much anyway, your sweet comment really cheered me up smile
There are only five layers but some are doubled so it's ten tracks for the vocals smile
  • beepboop 1 month ago
Thanks for your kind comments on SMFP. I am finding that not engaging the family is less of an option this go round, but it seems to be working out ok so far.
  •  Charlie Cheney 1 month ago
"that MNWU8, that was mine." big_smile
That made me burst out laughing.

  •  Valerie Cox 1 month ago
I am so glad you like that bridge. I spent forever trying to think of the last 4 lines. Who knew trying to think like an obsessed teen-age girl was so difficult. I don't remember it being that hard. smile

IQ, thanks for the listen and comment. Glad you enjoyed it!
  • Candle 1 month ago

  •  Dan Wallbank 1 month ago

  •  Scott O. Clamp 1 month ago
"so i dunno what it's called when the bass and guitar are both playing just one note in 3 octaves, but it's great!"

It's called "I don't know what the hell I'm doing with this bass, but that never stopped me before," I think. Thanks for all the comment love!
  •  Tobermory 1 month ago
Finally the penny drops and I realise that IQ and Isaac Quatorze are the same person. I'm such a dunce! You seem to be getting more experimental and more assured at the same time. It's looking great for the future! Keep it up
  • therman 1 month ago
thanks again, isaac. to be fair, up until recently I did the emo lyric thing - but I had to run out of subject matter eventually. tongue I'm glad you like the new style.
  •  Phil Norman 1 month ago
The kindness of your comments is above and beyond. Much love, brother Denys.
  •  expendablefriend 1 month ago
IQ, thanks so much for your comment, and I would be really, really delighted to sing on something for you post-FAWM. "Compensation" wouldn't even have entered my head, it would be awesome fun.
  •  lapetitekiwi 1 month ago
Feel free to cover it, I would be most honoured!!
  • Dennis Jernberg 1 month ago
Alas, I'm afraid I can't join your Anti-Feast Alliance. There's simply too many songs trying to break their way out of my fevered brain. But I'm going to keep up with your output for sure. (And anyway, I'm Dan Fors' #1 fan, just so you know. wink )
  •  Debs 1 month ago
LOL, car commercial music, IQ? Are you sure that's a compliment? big_smile
  • Candle 1 month ago

Your criticisms are always appreciated. Merci beaucoup!
  •  Halfpenny Orchestra 1 month ago
IQ, thanks for signing up for Halfpenny Orchestra’s Loteria Challenge. You have been dealt: El Alacran (The Scorpion, No. 40). The bug doesn’t have to be in Canada in your song, but, whatever. In the description of your song, please include the subject of the card and its number. Also, please include loteria as a tag. Have fun!
  •  Scott Lake 1 month ago
IQ - I replied re. xoxos plugins.

Hi Isaac, thanks! Likewise, you're now on my watchlist. Looking forward to hearing some more songs from you next month!
  • Tim Wille 1 month ago
Hey Isaac! I don't think I'm gonna come and dance the night awake this year - but I can be a de facto member of SCAFA if you want (since 0 songs also means 0 feasts.:))
  • Vincent Poprocky 1 month ago
Isaac, any chance we'll be getting "In My Friendless Years Part Deux" this year? That was my favorite FAWM 2009 track. wink
  •  Elaine DiMasi 1 month ago
But can I rest on my laurels? I was thinking to learn like three chords and limp along making buzzing noises with this Rickenbacker this year.
  •  Corinne Curcio 1 month ago
Hi Isaac - You've been added to my watchlist. I'll to thank Nancy and Hoops! big_smile
  • Taylor Tay 1 month ago
You're right. The album answers why Ringo should not try to write songs quite well. tongue
  •  Scott O. Clamp 1 month ago
    Flatterer.

    [Never stop.]
  • Taylor Tay 1 month ago
Just to see if you were right, I listened to Ringo Starr's Y Not. Shocking album. I think it lowered my standard of "good music" by a couple notches, just because that one is so bad... plastered in Auto-Tune, and Starr's lyrics sound like the poetry of a kid in third grade. I'm thinking I might write an answer song to one of the more shocking ones for FAWM...
  •  Face of Einstein 1 month ago
If you'd like, I'll send you an email later with the info so you have it.
    Oh - and I'm in for SCAFA....hehe
  •  Scott McBride 1 month ago
    It was short-lived but enjoyable.
  •  Face of Einstein 1 month ago
That does help. Thanks! I think I can always upload it on there since I still have the info right?
  •  isaac quatorze 1 month ago
hey iQ! good luck this year...
  • Dan Fors 1 month ago
YES! Viva la anti-feast revolutione! big_smile

  •  Face of Einstein 1 month ago
hey - can you put "Map of Canada" on my tiny chunk of "upyourlegs"? I really wanted to pimp the link in the chat, but I don't have it......thx tongue
  •  Dick Clark 1 month ago
Hey, Moore ambushed me in Bowling For Columbine.

I'm not a bad guy...I was the first to show black and white kids dancing together on TV. I'm a people person like you Isaac.

Kid, let me tell you something. Personally, I LOVE your music, I've been a really big fan, but it will *never* catch on with the youngsters. Don't let that discourage you, just have a plan b that's all I'm saying.
  •  Halfpenny Orchestra 1 month ago
This year, I'm looking forward to your follow-up hit: Took a Bath in Buford.
  •  Dan Wallbank 1 month ago
No, that was already written by one of the great soul legends. But I'll do my best!
  • Man, I can't wait to see what you come up with this year.
  •  Face of Einstein 1 month ago
Hey....this is merely to make it easier for you to find me...since you're sitting right infront of me at the moment...

Ha ha! They moor the Oscar Mayer Weinermobiles in Madison, so I took a picture of one at a local event, aptly named, Bratfest, and that's my avatar. Yep, a whole fest based on the brat. That should be way more embarrassing to admit.
  •  Burr Settles 2 months ago
isaaq, can i not collab with you this year?
  •  Charlie Cheney 2 months ago
    Collab-a-dab-a-ding-dong.
Oh I'm too busy, who am I kidding.

I think you have to post about the vintage organ in "shameless self-promotion", because you're going to make people jealous. Now where is it!

XIV, we are collaborating this year. By god.
  •  Scott O. Clamp 2 months ago
Oh, yes, that. I was just paraphrasing the Smiths. Elaine was doing it, and she's cool and it looked like fun.
  •  Elaine DiMasi 2 months ago
Stuff just seems to *happen* here that otherwise wouldn't!
