Bio

I'm not planning to go as crazy this year. Last year's output really was a tad excessive.

Shout if you want to collaborate.

Although, my main aim in life is to collaborate with Errol.

Edit to add: Just to clear up any confusion, I am not Nancy Rost.

Edit again: I am also half of Hellshank http://fawm.org/fawmers/hellshank/

  •  Tim Fatchen 2 weeks ago
Where are you? After I finished crying in the corner having been told off on the forums, I ferretted through the garbage bin and pulled out the least contaminated piece of music that the maggots hadn't quite got to yet, or at least not obviously. So there's now a dreg posted, and no-one has come to try it. Sob sob...
  •  rahkout 2 weeks ago
Thank you for your comments on my songs- I definitely plan to take your advice about adding the chorus to "Vital Parts and Private Hearts." Also, I had never heard of Kristin Hersh before, so thank you for introducing me to her- I like her smile
  •  Fifth Key Holder 2 weeks ago
thanks for the awesome comment. I just realized I have not commented on your tunes this year. that will be done, since I really love your music each year. It means a lot!
  • Nick Sypniewski 3 weeks ago
    Helen,
Thanks a lot for the comment on my "Yes" song. Much appreciated. Never really listened to a lot of Cockney Rebel - maybe I should find some. Anyway, thanks again. I know I've commented on one or two of your songs (so far) but I'll take the moment to say that what I've heard is consistently impressive, so nice to know that I did something that you liked.
  •  G Slade 3 weeks ago
Thanks for the comment Helen....to be honest..i just didn't feel like writing 3 verses...lol...see..my laziness comes off as genius... smile
  •  Valerie Cox 3 weeks ago
It's been sent across the vast ocean. I've been having trouble with attachments not arriving, but hopefully you got it.
  •  Valerie Cox 3 weeks ago
Hi Helen. How busy are you??? I have a track that could use your awesome voice. Uhhhh...you'd also have to write lyrics.....all of them. smile Let me know if I should send it your way.
  •  marklberry 3 weeks ago
    Helen,
Billy Sea added his newest version of the "I'm Not Nancy Rost" string. The beatings will continue until morale improves! Or the FAWM roasting will continue until February fades away. Or something like that.
    Cheers! MLB
  •  Patrick Madden 3 weeks ago
I registered for RATM (and Laura did too), but no luck...

    HELEN! You're AROUND! HUZZAH! big_smile

I don't think I've seen you on the forums that much! It was refreshing...
  •  devin 3 weeks ago
    Hey songwriter!

There will be a party once you're withing our grasp *ah* visiting.

Even if it's at the side of the road, we're gonna whoop it up. Do you have a rough itinerary? Flying into Toronto or something like that?

    Looking forward to meeting up!
  •  marklberry 3 weeks ago
    Helen,
I recorded "HeleNanTC" and it ain't pretty. Let the sparks fly. I can take it.
    Cheers! MLB

Mortgage payment to support biggish studio < awesome.

    smile
  • Hey there! Timing's off on the Evanecence thing, I literally just shipped a version off to Debs for vox. sad

I'd definately love to collab on something prior to your Madison arrival though. I'll drop you a line offline with some thoughts.
  •  marklberry 4 weeks ago
    Helen,
TC had a little fun with your song "I am not Nancy Rost" and the I had a little more fun with it. thanks for starting a chain-song! Mine is not titled: "HeleNanTC"
    Cheers! MLB

You don't get out of the challenge that easily, young lady smile
  •  Valerie Cox 1 month ago
"Intoxicating" That was truly one of the best comments I've ever gotten. Thanks.

Thank you for the lovely comments, Helen. big_smile
  •  Patrick Madden 1 month ago
I've got a couple of things I'm working on.... smile
  •  Bruce H. McCosar 1 month ago
Thanks for the comment on "Beware the Age of the Machine" -- this is one of those songs that I don't think would work well in real life. The congas were recorded with open mics, and the only way they can drive this song is by being on equal terms with the guitar -- not going to happen on stage! The feedback loop would be bone jarring.

And yes -- Firefly was the best. My wife and I can still sing "A Man Called Jayne." big_smile
  • adventuresofmimi 1 month ago
Thanks for the heads up about London people! I'll need some friends when I get there sad

  •  Rob Cooke - Boy@Heart 1 month ago
Yeah I think I must have been influenced by all the reverting to real names, but I did my first FAWM under my real name. Looking forward to this one after a complete flunk of 50/90.
Thanks for stopping by me soundboard!
p.s. I'm still a boy at heart. smile
  • grygrx 1 month ago
I love Helen, you know... in a friendly way....

Geeze what are you suggesting, with your glances and crazy eyes?

I mean, we are across the globe
and across the gender preference line

Fools, it's about the angry moments
and the joy from a few drops of spittle left on the mic
  •  Greg Lines 1 month ago
Thanks for the note Helen. Can't make the 28/3 thing as I have family commitments. Sorry!

Looking forward to hearing your songs though.
  •  Hero 1 month ago
Hey Hellen, I have to give you a big thanks for those links you sent me in the chat. I managed to get my RB2 drum set working as a MIDI controller. Now I can have crappy drums ontop of all the other crappy stuff I'll have.
And it's all thanks to you!
  •  The Vinyl Flies 1 month ago
I can't wait to hear some new material. See you in a February!
  • Chris Adams 1 month ago
That's OK. If you can just get back to me and we can work something out together. Or if you find some lyrics of mine that you like, feel free to turn it into a song. Just let me know.
  • Chris Adams 1 month ago
Would you like to do a collaboration with me this FAWM? I can do lyrics if you can do instruments and record.
  •  oddbod 1 month ago
Hmmmm, I'll have to see. I usually get a nose bleed if I travel to North London wink
    Ta for the invite though.
  •  Bruce H. McCosar 1 month ago
Awesome response to the no-string guitar thread. I have to put up with a similar attitude all the time from jazz musicians ... electric bass is "not a real bass" (meaning an upright), eg "it's just a guitar."
  •  Eric Distad 1 month ago
I changed my avatar pic... and I just realized it was a pic from the London FOP. I started looking through all those pics from London. That was so awesome!

I'm looking forward to hearing new tunes from you! (P.S. The track on the comp is SWEET!)

  •  Burr Settles 1 month ago
    HELL! N! HELL! N!
  •  Tobermory 1 month ago
I believe I am a little of both monsters. The general beard and squiggly hairdo of green, combined with the stripey goodness of pink there. Even though pink is clearly a girl.

No luck with the eviltwin website right now, is it supposed to be up and running?
