Bio

I am a Southern Californian musician who has very little experience in songwriting, having started but never finished a song for the past 10 years. I joined FAWM to challenge myself to complete 14 1/2 songs in one month and, in the process, learn more about my personal writing style. I hope to find enjoyment in writing just as much as I do in playing piano, and become a bit more fearless in my musical endeavors.
My initial thoughts for this month's album will focus on the American white collar worker, a subject that has been at the forefront of my mind. I'd like to draw upon folk and theatrical influences to illustrate and heighten the plight of the common 9-to-5-er. At least that's my jumping off point for now. Let's see where the month takes us!

So, I just wanted to give one last peep. Congratulations on making it through your first FAWM! You did some really astounding work, o mistress of the keys. And while I never had a doubt you could do this, you composed some very surprising songs! When you first posted "American Machine," I thought that your album might end up having a Tori Amos sort of feel to it. Instead you went numerous places and explored thoroughly. You've accomplished something quote grand here, Heidi!

Going down your list above, may favorites are: "Scuttlebutt," "Casualty Friday," "Labor of Love," "On the Move," "The PowerPoint Song," and "On Hold." Out of those, "Casualty Friday" is my top favorite, though "On Hold" is a close second - it could even be on the top, depending on how it develops.

Might FAWM be in your future in the following years?

Don't discount the collab too much. I would take every point I could get. And besides there is a lot to learn from working with other artists. Creativity can take a big boost, when you throw another wrench in the soup. With one Good song, your a winner in my book, and you've got 14 so far.

Thank you! I'm not quite done, as 1 of them was a collab and technically shouldn't count. So I'm not yet a winner until I post something else up tonight. While I haven't fully fleshed out most of the songs I posted, it's enough to build on in the coming months. I'm almost there, thanks to everyone's encouragement!
