Thanks H.A. Yep, Distelfink or Thistle Finch...though mine are stylized renditions. All of the Fraktur work, whether mosaic or carvings are based on 150+ year old paintings done by artists within 15 miles of where I live.

You've got an interesting niche here on FAWM. My wife, a middle school science teacher, has to deal with a bit of guff every year from fundementalist students who take umbrage when the section on Darwin comes around. She used to let them air their opinions but has taken to shutting them down early with "Evolution is a theory you're expected to learn whether you believe it, or not." We don't want any children left behind, now do we? I'll have to show her your Darwin Birthday Song.
