re: waiting on a ring. Thanks for stopping by and giving it a listen. All the instrumentation on that is Band-In-A-Box (ha, ha), including the pedal steel. I originally did it with me as an acoustic guitars, bass, vocals demo -- but then the co-writer wanted it faster. So I put it into BIAB so I could play with the tempo and maybe the key. To no avail, though, the co-writer pretty much hated my lyrics, story and demo (what can you do?).

Thanks for taking the time to listen.

I listened to your meteor shower song, which sounds great. beautiful instrumentation with the electric guitar that creeps in there. definitely more of a cohesive song than mine. I also like the album artwork of your 1984-2009 collection - almost like a Belle and Sebastian record cover.

    fixed the demo, thanks.

Hi -- thanks for the comments. Listening to your stuff too and it's great, love your style with a pop song. The effects rig I use is pretty complicated, and I've been meaning to write it up in some detail, but basically, it's a few effects boxes (analog delay, octave generator, overdrive, reverb) into a looping pedal, all mono. That goes into an a/b/both switch that sends the signal into a stereo delay/looping unit, which then goes into ANOTHER delay unit with an expression pedal. The idea is that I can be running several loops at once, throw stuff to the left or right of the stereo image using the switchbox, and then pile up an underlying drone or rhythm in that last delay unit, and fade it up or down with the pedal.

Thanks man, um.. what I doing this year..er.. what I usually do is not what I've been doing this FAWM. Just kind of bored with words and having a synth spell. Still what I listen to is not very iindicative of what I write either. At least these days.

Thanks for the comment on "Rain Just Keeps Coming Down" -- and you know, I was going to make some other remark, but then I see that you're a fan of Johnathan Richman! I got to see him perform back in the late 80s. Thing I remember most about him was he'd tell these fascinating stories between songs -- they'd totally fit the music, and added a lot of depth to the performance. I wonder if we as a culture haven't lost something in treating concerts as giant, live versions of a record, eg, track 1, then track 2, etc.

    Hello Baby!
I'm itching to get started. Got a few issues to think through. Not sure whether to make this the next official MG release, or do I need the added pressure. Will probably go for the fun angle.
    Your pal
    Roy
