I'm a singer/double bassist who only writes songs during FAWM it seems. I live in a small falling down house in a cute little rural town in Central Victoria with my patient and talented husband. I make a living from music and if you like it enough to encourage me not to give up and get a day job then I invite you to show your support at https://lizfrencham.bandcamp.com .
FAWM JOURNAL 2018
I’m back. FAWM #4 cooooool. 😀
It’s busy as usual. I’ll be travelling interstate most weekends to tour the albums I played on last year and I’m pretty exhausted in general from a ridiculous 2017. But FAWM will always be a busy time for me, and it hasn’t stopped me from getting good things up in the past so I’m feeling really positive and hoping to get some stuff out of my soul and into some songs. I’m going to start with some left over fragments from previous sessions and try and hit the ground running.
COME ON!!! I'm ready but I gotta wait. Maybe a refresher course on Logic is what the doc ordered.
Was hoping to finish both lyrics and demo of a co-write outside of FAWM but packing for a ten day tour got in the way. Looks like it’s going to mainly lyrics only until halfway through feb, though I might get brave enough to post some dodgy iPhone live takes. I won’t have have my acoustic bass however. Frustrating start. 😏
Awake early on a hot QLD morning and just cruising around the site. Happy with posting 3 skirmish lyrics on the weekend and messing about with some challenges from the forums. Definitely feeling a lull in productivity from yesterday though, and missing my bass which I only get access to at the gigs at the moment. Poo.
8 no 10! songs up on the 8th day of feb, this is definitely a personal best but it’s only because I have only been posting lyrics. I just hope I can get all these demos finished and up in the one week I have at home next week. The ten by ten was fun!!
A FAWM win on day 11! Definitely a record for me. 😀 Yes- I know it’s only lyrics posted so far but a win is a win- I’m a WINNER. 🏆
Post bass disaster I'm going to grab some time to record something this afternoon... I hope...
PHILOSOPHY ON COLLABORATING
1. I’m a hopeless collaborator. Ask @zecoop! I have all the enthusiasm and intention but even if it’s my idea I may not get around to it in my limited time and I won’t pursue anything into March for my own mental health’s sake. So don’t get attached to me finishing something and say ‘no’ if I approach you, if it means you may get offended at my inability to complete.
2. I may drop out of contact due to touring weekend availability and internet access. Sorry!
3. Please don’t take things I’ve posted and use them in your art without consulting me. This happened with a lyric of mine last year and it shut me down me from finishing it myself and kinda upset me a little. If I don’t have a plan for something I’ll usually make that clear in my description. Yeah, I’m a bit precious. But this is my stuff and it takes vulnerability and trust to even share it with you before it’s finished.
4. If we do something together let’s keep talking. I’m open to everything that is polite and respectful. Any co-writes we may want to take further than February we can talk percentages and registration with performance and mechanical rights organisations when that becomes a thing.

Yes! That's the one. Circles. 😁 I sent it to you again.
Thank you so much! : ))) I'm glad I could make somekind of an impact this year as well.
HI Liz, thanks for much for visiting and listening/commenting to Do You Want to Hold Me!! I appreciate your comments.
Thanks for listening, lovely! Hope you're able to get some of your own stuff up here too.. and when you do I can't wait to listen 😁 xoxo
Oh my goodness Dupletarion Warrior you are AWESOME!! You took the time to write 200 comments and listen to all those songs! Thanks for your hefty contribution to our community. You have 200 thank you’s from your fellow FAWMers and from me! Excellent work and keep busting’ those zongs!!
PS- I just saw my parents today and was SO close to showing it to them, but everything is still a bit raw and I think it might have been too much of a trigger. I will show them eventually...
So glad to see you’re back on here - up and running. I bet that whole bass experience will translate into a wonderful song (or wonderful inspiration).
Thanks for listening and commenting on my song ' same way the river flows ' . It's really amazing connecting with fellow musicians/ artists far & wide during FAWM . This is one of the best things about the internet . Cheers
Liz, thanks for coming over to listen to Two of Everything. Wonderful complements!
Thank you for your kind words regarding My Name Is Dad. So far, all my collaborations have not involved my sons. Maybe later.
Thx for your nice comments on. No one gets out of here alive. It was a type of song i would like to do more of.
Hey thank you so much for your very kind words on my lyric
Put it down means a lot to me
I'm not sure I'll hit the finish line myself this year, but seeing my favorite FAWMers in there swinging (glance in mirror here) makes me want to rally as well!
Thank you so much for your response to "Perfect Pitch"! And I'm beyond flattered by your post to the Recommended thread.
Thank you very much for the comment on my collab track with Colleen!
Well, i didnt mean it in a bad way. I probably only noticed it because i was thinking of using the line (and the toe). Besides, repetition and variation is how we get better (music), right?
Hooray, congratulations on 14! Give me a shout when the demos go up. Looking forward to hearing you again.
Honestly, I'm surprised as many people are listening to all of my #actually-an-album postings as they are. I've finally embraced my lo-fi nature, so I have nothing preventing me from putting releases together, except the cover. My "First Fruits" album is up. I have a cover for "Lady Corner." It's just a matter of getting everything together. Once they're on BandCamp they're available as audio-only, and they have the tracks split for easier jumping around.
Congratulations on the win!
Thanks lovely! I love YOUR lyrics <3
I love writing lyrics, just need to get better at putting them to music!
thank you yeah, with some distance now i can see a kind of slackers carpe deum thing there, thanks
Yeah... But I am really close to my tipping point, time wise. I'll be largely coasting the rest of FAWM. Aiming to end in the high 40s or thereabouts.
Thank you for your kind words regarding Wanted. Per 'Way Too Much", I do live with anxiety and depression, and a number of smaller aspects that place me within borderline personality disorder. Gotta love those labels, eh?
Thanks for the nice comment on my skirmish song, "Dopey Hacienda."
Thank you so much for your kind words...
Thank you so much fr your kind words on my lyric
Thank you for your comments on my song. It helped a little - but I'm still curled up in the corner shaking and talking to the ceiling. Thanks for reaching out. Hugs.
Thankyou for listening and commenting on my song ' walking on air ' . I appreciate it . Cheers
Hi Liz 😀
Thanks for the comments lovely!! I've been doing replies wrong... someone kindly pointed out... so no one's been seeing them!!! Noooooo!!!!
hey! an update-- i got my pro tools up and going after spending days on nothing else musical. i'll be working out my simple arrangement of your song soon, however. sorry i went incommunicado for a sec.
thanks for hitting my songs! I can never do the proper hour limit on skirmshes, i always go over time, but still skirmish-ish, but wouldn't want to mislead you!
Liz, I'm glad you liked "Raindrops in My Coffee" and "Cereal Offender". Re: the bass track / BGVs, I'd love to give it a try (my daughter sold her upgright, dangit!)
Thanks! No music yet sadly but let's see if I can come up with something. I find writing lyrics so much easier than putting them to music haha!
Yes please be the next new Dreamer with a story to tell in the way only you can!. So glad you dropped by and enjoyed this ship has sailed. Right now my ship is sailing to bed considering it's almost 3 in the morning here.💤💤
You have a" lock on your heart"... so I'm not able to listen to Sun on the Snow and bust your ZONG 😮)
Liz, I just popped over to your warm and inviting website. Was drawn to read your blog. Thank you for sharing your Universe. Just thank you. You know the rest...
PS.I didn't listen to your produced music as I want to stay in FAWM mode and appreciate the seeds of your work. Cheers!
Thanks for your comments on I Like My Men! I have to laugh because I have no solid knowledge of time signatures. I just play it how I hear it in my head lol Glad I seem to hear unusual things sometimes 😀
Congratulations Centurion Soldier! You wrote 100 comments for your fellow FAWMers!! You made this place even better. You took your time to listen to other people's songs and you have 100 thank you's from all of them and from me! Here’s your badge. Excellent work and keep busting’ those zongs!!
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my skirmish song I Never Saw it Coming! This is my first FAWM and I really appreciate the feedback
Thanks for the welcome <3
Thanks for you kind words on my songs, much appreciated!
Thanking you for your comment on The Seasons
Oh thank you! What a nice comment - it’s always nice to hear that people don’t find your lyrics silly! 😀
Thank you for the nice welcome message! This is my first crack at fawm, excited to get started.
Yes... Yes you should. 😀
Maybe we can talk. I see you in my fb strip of people I might know (or however they label that). I only have messenger on my computer, not my iPod now, so it may be a bit, but I’m an maple leaf stuck to a window if you see a request.
Thank you so much for listening to "Static of a Stranger." I like those stream of conscience type songs and I really appreciated your comment. I had no idea I was even doing Lydian mode - so yay, I learned something. 😀
Thanks for continusly stopping by and commenting and listening to my songs. Very appreciated. <3
I do plan on it. Just need to steal some hours. Hopefully once I wake up I can have a few blocks of time to go up in the attic and get some stuff going.
Thanks for the kind words. "play the card" has a double meaning -conversation, opening up and actually playing cards. We played a lot of cribbage when we got together.
i do indeed get ideas from "lovely red." i know you were likely thinking of the reverse when you said you would like to collaborate, and that you would realize one of my lyrics that i rarely get to during FAWM. i'm sorry to hear of your difficulties being able to record this FAWM. i'd like to get a rough sketch of my idea to you, just me and my nashville-strung guitar, and then i could flesh out my idea in a BiaB demo if you like the sketch well enough. don't open me up as a collaborator until you have approved the demo, if you end up doing so. i nicked some throat infection in the bud by going to the doctor, so my voice is ok but without the resonance i usually have from my frontal sinuses, though that will likely be in play by the later demo. i'll likely record on monday-- i work tomorrow morning, and am off on monday. i'm hearing something jazzy in line, though with simpler chords than those often associated with jazz. i'll stay in touch.
hey-- i am all for us collaborating. since you are having to mostly do lyrics, i could look over what you have and try my hand at one of them. i would check with you to make sure you were good with my choice. hit me back and i'll take a look and get started. best of luck in the coming weeks!
Thanks for the lovely welcome, Liz! Good to see you back. Looks like you've had a productive start to the month!
Thx for ‘the milk carton kids’ tip
I got overwhelmed and ran out of time today but I will be back to check out your 0203-A skirmish song!!
So nice to hear that I left a mark! 😀)) good to be back!
Hello! Yes, I want to make lots of friends and write lots of music (sorry not sure how to respond to comments, so writing on your profile/wall)
Thanks for the listen and comment... you are free now...
Hey dude, I am back this year, full of determination! Here's hoping it will last, hahahaha! Bliimey, you are already knocking three songs out the park - looking forward to hearing the demos when they come! 😀
Thanks for listening to "Special Day." 😀 Simple is my savior. 😉
So do you want lyrics on a certain topic or bent? Or do you want me to surprise you?
Thanks for the welcome! 😀 Good luck this month. Already have two up I see, most inspirational 😉
Thank YOU for popping by to listen, and your kind words!
Here's how I do it so fast: I took the day off work and the kids went to school. So, I had uninterrupted time to compose music.
And having lyrics already created for me made it a lot faster as well. 😀
I also have my studio all dialed in and ready to go at a moments notice and I've been working on a template for my rock stuff, so, I have half of the mixing done before I even start recording. There are some advantages to having your own studio space. 😀
I bet it would be super frustrating.. you must be even more busting to get home at the moment! Stay strong, and keep posting/writing awesomeness! xo
thank you for your comment of maddie and my somg shades of me. Your list of influences reads like my record collection so im looking forward to hearing your demos nce they are up. Happy FAWMing
Thanks for the waltz idea lovely! Lots of fun!
Hey Liz, looking forward to some tunes this year though looks like we'll have to wait at least 10 days, pah. Stupid real life 😀 Could have sworn I'd already said hello somewhere... maybe it was on the forum!
Thank you for welcoming me! And welcome yourself!
Thanks for the warm welcome! Have a productive and fun month. I look forward to hearing your new FAWM creations ❤️
Hopeless? Pshhhhh.... Never! You are an amazing collaborator and worth the wait EVERY time. Bring it!!! 😀
Hello Liz! Sorry to say I won't be FAWMing this year, but hope you have a great one!
I look forward to your songs. It must be February already in Victoria, too! Happy FAWMing 😀
Excited for another one.
Cheers, Liz, good to be back. I got a sound for you from last year...
Have a wonderful FAWM!
Sibelius looks great -- thanks for advising. Also, your collab rules got me thinking that a more deliberate list of influences is probably a good idea 😀
glad to be here, I think this is going to be really fun! thanks for the welcome. 😀
Hooray! Good to see you back.
Hello lovely glad to see - and hear soon - you here! xx
Yeah! So much fun! I'll touch base with you soon and we'll figure out a plan. 😀
Bring on the Jazz and the Bass.
Hello again Liz! Thanks for welcoming me back, and "yay for FAWM" indeed! I look forward to your music! 😀
Have fun Liz, let's hear some bass music!
Hi there, and thanks for the welcome! 😀
May I ask what program you use for your lead sheets?
Hi Liz, thanks for the welcome 😀
Well, that was a lovely welcome. Thank you very much!
Yay for FAWWWM!
Thank you for the message! I co-write as well.
Thanks for the message! Wishing you a productive FAWM!!
Hello, Liz! Can't wait to hear your music this year. Happy FAWMing!
Wow Liz girl, you da bomb. I was just wondering about Fawm and I opened the page and there was your message. What an incredible blast, I love you absolutely and forever... even more than, gasp. maple syrup croissants...... -I bought myself a Line 6 Spider V120 amp for Christmas and I already had a magnificent hand-made electric so stand back and hang onto your barrettes...... can't WAIT to hear you again. Yayyyyyyyyy
