Holy imbecile, tender and mild.

Seventh FAWM, wow.

The last year has been complicated, but I'm good now! (The previous version of this seems to have alarmed people.) Let’s write songs!

I don't think it's too obvious, and the downplaying of the subject really worked to let me experience the emotions in the song without those kinds of references getting in the way. The realization came gradually.

  • @barbara  Feb 28

I think it's been posited that we are all FAWM cousins with a shared Auntie Sin, at least in that thread once upon a time. I'd take 'cousin' any day!

  • @barbara  Feb 28

    FAWM aunt!

  • @barbara  Feb 28

Excuse me, but as FAWM compliance officer it is my duty to inform you that you are underreporting your years of FAWM participation up there ^ ^ presuming that you count 2011 as year number 1. You, sir, are an 8. Eight FAWMs. Now *that* is truly something to Wow about! You are using last year's Wow, which has expired.

Congratulations, cuz it looks like you're gonna make it! So glad you decided to play again!

  • @doglatin  Feb 20

Yeah of course I figgered you'd know the dead guy. Thanks for listening.

  • @doglatin  Feb 19

Slapping myself silly for not getting the Matching Mole Caroline song...I know it well, it is my favorite of all Caroline songs. Uh well, it was until I heard Caroline Yes and No. We'll call it a draw for now.

  • @barbara  Feb 13

Relentless, hypnotic, haunting, uncompromisingly dark.... check, check, check, and check. Also, I love me some Pink Moon. I try not to come off as an imitator, per se, but yeah. It's an influence.

  • @resonut123 Feb 12

    Thanks for the comments Rod.
You are moving along nicely, will check out a few of your tunes soon.

  • @toms  Feb 10

One is.simply indestructible in one's 20s. Light swinging is no problem! πŸ˜€

  • @barbara  Feb 10

Settings are just on that song, but the surroundings is my typical set up, unless I'm in the car!

  • @barbara  Feb 10

Thanks for the feedback. Here's what I do. Bedroom studio, recorded closely on the iPhone which is nestled into a pile of pillows, two separate tracks (guitar first). 'Dry' mic setting with ~15% echo, ~25% reverb ('Large Hall' setting), with an added ~30% compression on vocal.

  • @zecoop  Feb 10

Yea, it was pretty creepy and had some scary possible outomes due to some complications i have in my life. But it all turned out as good as it possibly could. πŸ˜€

Yea that "flute" sound, once I processed it through the Leslie pedal kinda sorta turned into a Mellotron kind of thing, but really sounded more like an organ. I've still got some editting to do on that one, but it was 12:30am and time for the Norco, lol. I really appreciate you listening! πŸ˜€

  • @owl  Feb 9

Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comments on "Virtue Signaling." Glad it stayed with you and the ideas came through.

  • @barbara  Feb 6

Thanks for the comments! I'm kind of in the same camp with you on "time left on the counter" - maybe that was early dementia nounspeak, possibly short for "y'know-that-counter-thingy-with-numbers-and-arms-that-go-around-and-around"? Definitely a skirmish mishap.

  • @amusia Feb 3

Yes, I'm here! Happy Fawming! It looks like you're off to a good start!

  • @alboe Jan 31

    Heya.

  • @ryako  Jan 29

I am back, fellow FAWM gangsta! Seems like you've been to hell and back. Keep calm and FAWM on. (Yes, I am aware I just used "FAWM" as a damn verb.)

  • @arthurrossi Jan 28

Hi Rod! I am sad to hear about the adversities of life you had to face... I hope this year will be a much better one... In any case, I wish you a lovely FAWM!

  • @tamsnumber4 Jan 28

    Hi Rod! Happy FAWMing!

  • @barbara  Jan 27

    Found it!

The flute ends up a little loud in this live video, making it harder to enjoy the delivery, but my god that's a romantic song! The chorus keeps rolling through my thoughts.

  • @elesimo  Jan 26

Morning, @downburst! The license should have gone through, I just transferred everything a few minutes ago. πŸ˜€

  • @klaus Jan 24

Hi, thanks for the welcome. Can't wait for the "rodcast" to begin.

  • @deafsteever Jan 23

Howdy, Rod! Great to hear from ya. I'll be FAWMing, albeit in my usual limited capacity. I'm so lazy. Hehe

    Take care,
    Steever

  • @donna  Jan 22

Hi, Rod. πŸ˜€ In the rush of things, we've kind of hurried past each other during the last couple of Challenges, but it was good to know you were, and hanging in. πŸ˜‰

  • @kovbleu  Jan 21

Thank you! You too! Happy FAWMING!

  • @max  Jan 21

    Peekaboo!

  • @rayboneor  Jan 21

Hey, thanks for stopping by! I look forward to Ragin' Rod. Does that mean less glum schmaltz?

As for me, I'm trying to remember what this whole thing is about. I'd love to recapture the naive swagger I had as an absolute song-writing beginner

  • @kahlo2013  Jan 20

Hi Rod! Sounds like it's been a rough journey... I hope there are some bright spots on the path ahead! I know hearing your music on FAWM will make my day brighter! All the best!

    ^^ That's the first batch.

  • @airbagtester  Jan 20

Hey Rod! I am raising her to be a multi-instrumentalist. So far she mostly likes stuff you can bang on, like bongos, keyboards, bells, drums...

  • @writeandwrong  Jan 20

What gave the coffee away?? πŸ˜‹

  • @zecoop  Jan 18

Let's do this thing... Happy FAWM, Rod! πŸ˜€

  • @barbara  Jan 16
