Bio

This will be my 6th fawm . Is that correct ? 6 years yikes. The last thing i need is 14 more hastily produced songs to put on my stack of stuff to work on but I smuggly believe i can do it this year without totally consuming my life as it has in the past. I achieved my goal the last3 years and got some good songs to boot. I'm gonna do my darndest to reach it this year as well. My strategy is to go with myusual low production first take wonders
I noiced people commenting on my songs say "good job nicely executed". Yep I can "kill" the nicest tune.
I have been writing songs for about 30 years . I play in a christian rock band named press'n on . give some lessons to some talented young musicians and sell antique auto parts on ebay.
My band can be found at www.myspace.com/pressnonguyswe play all original christian swamp rock music. We Even play about half a dozen or so of my fawm tunes in the band
All of my past fawm songs are posted at my soundclick site www.soundclick.com/workboot . workboot is my alterego. it is me . I is it.
I finally got my stuff together and put out a cd this year titled "when money failed". which was actually one of my fawm songs a few years ago.
you can hear it and others at htpp:/www.dougnye.com

I also am desperate for friends on my personal myspace page www.myspace.com/workboot

Enough of the shameless self promotion. let me wax philosophical. -----
The only reason I am doing Fawm is to personally challenge myself as a songwriter. My usual songwriting mode is by inspiration and can fluctuate wildly depending on my moods and level of procrastination. Fawm sort of primes my pump. Forces me out of my lethargy and invariably produces some new ideas that I did not realize even existed. When people ask me what i do for a living I like to tell them "I live the introspective life". Fawm enables me to justify that life style, sitting around playing my guitar, drinking tea and staring at the wood stove, scribbling on pizza boxes , staying up till the wee hours, and falling miserably behind in all of my other life tasks. Looking forward to going half way down the tubes.press'n on.doudog

The inspiration for the Alaska Rap and Arctic Love Song was an article in the paper. You got Sarah Palin right (I'm not sure of her middle name). Sarah is from Wasilla in the Susitna Valley. Linda is Linda Menard Alaska State Senator from Wasilla.

Thanks for stopping by, Mr. D. Yeah, "thang" would have definitely worked better. Alas, such are the results of a somewhat rushed process.

Hey; love the new photo; wild 60s thing.

Terribly torn between immersion in how much I miss my kids, and letting it rest a while

Thanks Doug. That would have been consigned to the garbage if 2009 fawmers hadn't sain kind words. Edited, cleaned up and practised, it's now one of my 2 gig-starters!

...and the back, and the knees, and the feet, and the eyes when you fail to wear safety glasses. Somehow I've been lucky with regards to my hands. Not that it matters much. I once had a jazz bassist tell me that I held the guitar like a shovel. What I lack in technique I make up for with enthusiasm.

Thanks for the kudos on my website.

@dougdog: "I did 4 stellar fawms and felt great about what i produced. last year i wimped out and It felt bad. The equation is consistent. Perform well= feel well perform poorly= feel poorly"

I didn't like to say it then 'cos I was very late into the room myself but yes, you're right! Get yer act together this year, y'hear?? wink
