    See You In The Shadows…
  •  dragondreams 2 months ago
    Sorry about your fader... yikes

Many, many thanks for taking the time to wade through so many of my tracks. It's very much appreciated. And my co-writer sends his warmest regards too! smile
  •  elainedimasi 2 months ago
I keep telling my friend, whose teenage son loves playing metal drums AND classical cello, that metal and classical are closely related and often co-beloved. But he wants to believe his boy is more special than that I guess wink

In counterpoint it's not about "chords" so much as "harmonic implications"; and I found it very difficult to wrap my head around that because of the ambiguities. But very interesting to study week after week. After a while I found, you don't need the "relief" of having a rhythm section banging away back there on "THE" chord. @sapient
  •  brzan 2 months ago
Thanks for listening and commenting on my songs Devin! I shall return the favour over the next day or two! smile
  •  kristian 2 months ago
big_smile mail sent! I also registered at the HawtMale.fawm site as I, for some unknown reason, WASN'T on the top 10 hawt males list! All I had to do was give them my credit card and other info and they said they would upload the pic I sent them; score!
  •  kristian 2 months ago
I'll shoot you a mail as soon as I get motivated to start with music again big_smile stay tuned for a loooong list of shit you know have unknowingly agreed to do.. buwhahahahaHAAHAHA! *cackle*
  •  bking 2 months ago
You are way ahead of me. I got a bass for Christmas the year before last and still don't have a clue. btw: We have a new kitten and she's not sick, just bossy. wink
  •  leslie 2 months ago
You need to add #15 to that list of yours up there, sir. The completist in me is irked by its glaring absence! wink
  •  adamhill 2 months ago
Thanks Devin! To be honest, I've been kinda bummed out and not overly impressed with my output (quality-wise, not quantity!) this FAWM... thanks for listening and the positive feedback! smile
  •  shay 2 months ago
Hi Devin, Hope you're feeling all better.
Of course I'm still hoping to hear what you come up with, late is okay too : )
  •  johncrossman 2 months ago
That's because I'm inside your house, like a creepy shadow puppet... oh, noooooo!!!
  •  johncrossman 2 months ago
Ya know, that's just hilarious. I had to make a comment on it. I'm going to send it to my friends with kids along with the first Shadow Puppets song!

  •  valeriecox 2 months ago
Thanks for the congrats Devein. And sorry you get to explore Lez Lust, but ya know, we can't all be that lucky. tongue

I must say, your Princess Bride project with Leslie is thoroughly fantastic.
  • arthurrossi 2 months ago
Devin, I am wordless... You have read my (subconscious) musical intention for these lyrics fantastically... No, metal would not have worked here, in deed... lol... Thank you very, very much for this wonderful, wonderful, wonderful music and performance (by the way, I do not sense any trace of a cold in your voice, it is great!). I love this song! I have been thinking for a while what is it what I like so much on it? It is all that what I have already said, but it is also something else... I think it is a special kind of "feel"... The "atmosphere", the "feel" reminds me slightly of Metallica's "Nothing else matters", which is one of my favorites... Once again, thank you very, very much for putting such a beautiful magic on my simple words... I love it...
  •  leslie 2 months ago
Yay! Thanks for making it happen. wink 2 more to go..
  •  carleybaer 2 months ago
Aaahhh!!! That is quite the challenge. Let me see what I can do. big_smile
  •  juravial 2 months ago
Emailing you some lyrics to start with smile
  •  leslie 2 months ago
Don't worry, I'll be back. wink
  •  juravial 2 months ago
Only 16 ways? I'm sure we can come up with more than that!
  •  gman 2 months ago
Thanks for the note Devin - when I first heard 'let me sum up' I could not stop laughing. As a fan of Bride for far longer than I think possible, I thought this was a one off that was really fun. At the point that I figured out it was part of a series, there was no chance I would not be a fan. This really has potential. I hope it turns into a live show. Keep it going!
  • arthurrossi 2 months ago
Thanks for the nice comment, Devin! I would look very, very forward if you gave it a try...
  •  billysea 2 months ago
Hey Devin, Sure, I'll give it a try. Don't know that I can come up with something better than you had but we can always delete it, or record over it with some Dr. Demento tunes : D
  •  billysea 2 months ago
Certainly, feel free. I even do serious stuff time to time, but normally in some stupid way big_smile
  •  valeriecox 2 months ago
And by the way, if you have a slinky, steamy music track you'd like to contribute to the cause, I'd be ever so happy to add vocals. smile
  •  nightengale 2 months ago
Thanks Devin, I put it up as a collab then!
  •  carleybaer 2 months ago
Heck yeah! Send me anything and I'll try to sing it. I'm not scared. big_smile
  •  nightengale 2 months ago
    Verse 3
His wife survived that beatin'.. left her defiled and disgraced,
Alone with no man no pride, she left on the stage,
Johnny frequents a lady to this day, at a house of ill-repute,
No man will have his way with her, when he is in the room..

    Chorus
The legend goes hard spoken when a son of anarchy rides,
Johnnys close behind him.. 6 shooter at his side,
On a windy night in Autumn you'll here his granite jaw....
Echo thru the canyon.... vengeance.. is Johnny laws..

    Bridge
He'll ride through the valleys of the lost and the forlorn..
Til he finds that outlaw and the buzzards pick his bones..

    Chorus
The legend goes hard spoken when a son of anarchy rides,
Johnnys close behind him.. 6 shooter at his side,
On a windy night in Autumn you'll here his granite jaw....
Echo thru the canyon.... vengeance.. is Johnny laws..
  •  nightengale 2 months ago
Hi Devin, I can't find your email address. This is my thoughts for "vengence" after trashing a couple first ones that seemed to mediocore. If you like it I'll post it as a collab, if you want it to go in a differont direction I'll go back to the pen, let me know.

    Vengeance

    Verse 1
Johnny lawman wore no badge.. he was a man of the cloth,
Until his wife was taken by the wrong arm of the law,
He rode a pale horse like thunder deep into the devils grip,
The good book in his saddle bag, a pistol at his hip..

    Verse 2
John law found that outlaw..bedded down for the night,
With fury on his breath and the wind at his backside,
The outlaw smelled no fear.. killed him on first draw,
Now Johnnys soul is cursed, in vengeance he rides on..

    Chorus
The legend goes hard spoken when a son of anarchy rides,
Johnnys close behind him.. 6 shooter at his side,
On a windy night in Autumn you'll here his granite jaw....
Echo thru the canyon.... vengeance.. is Johnny laws..

    Verse 3

Hi Devin. You and Leslie have been very busy. I've been behind the curve and didn't even realize y'all were doing that til last week. Der. I have to hear to that.

Thanks for the comments. You know I was on the fence about that word, luscious in Kiss. I left it in cause the word itself is so dang sexy, but I was already thinking about taking it out. I also think there are a couple more superfluous words in the chorus that need to be taken out. We're on the same page.

I probably will send you a sample of the raw audio, but I record through a hardware compressor into the DAW, so it's not uncompressed. This is a new problem though without a change in my setup, so possibly I screwed something up unknowingly, or and I hate to say this, when my mic hit the floor, it damaged it. hmm
  •  dasbinky 2 months ago
For some true bass awesomeness, check out this geek tune from last 50/90.

    http://dasbinky.com/resources/mp3/FAWM2011/Lempel_Ziv-Das_Binky-FAWM2011.mp3

It's a bar fighting song about compression algorithms.
  •  dasbinky 2 months ago
FYI, on Wet that's a real bass. Most of the amping is amp mods, but the source is real. Only the drums are programmed on that one.
  •  johncrossman 2 months ago
I'm sending you a messed up version of that lyric and you may dispose of it as you wish - a song, a deleted email, some firewood, birdcage lining or whatever.
  •  avidfanman 2 months ago
Hi Devin, glad you enjoyed "Till the end of time", appreciate the feedback - am very impressed that you've got 18 songs to your name with a week left to go!
  •  shay 2 months ago
Thanks Devin. Glad you like "How much More" as well : )
  •  johncrossman 2 months ago
Thanks for the comments. I see you've been working hard on your side project, or at least Leslie has! wink
Re: Shadow Puppets: have at it. If I were as metal as sapient, I wonder what shadow puppets I would project on the wall instead of cute little bunnies and duckies. I mean, I would do those too, but maybe also 3-headed dogs and minotaurs and stuff.
  •  leslie 2 months ago
I strive to be worthy of the name. wink

Oh, and I'm pretty sure "acoustic + interrupting wife" is my current favourite musical genre.
  •  ellenpliss 2 months ago
thank you very much for the kind comments on my collabs! now I feel even more guilty about wondering about the status of our collab wink hmmmm....?
  • arthurrossi 2 months ago
Hey, I have read your comment, thanks a lot! I would look very, very forward if you gave a try to one (or even more) set/s of my lyrics!!
  •  bking 2 months ago
No sweat Devin, there's plenty of time. Most important thing is to have fun with it.
  •  bking 2 months ago
And how pray tell might one get in touch with Sir Devin via email. Perhaps he might be inclined to send a brief message to: B AT 1BKING DOT COM
  •  shay 2 months ago
    Hi Devin,
Would I mind? I have to say, after just listening to 'Odin claims his Son', (OMG) do as you wish with 'Massacres & Riots'. I think as far as genre is concerned, you're on the right track already. I would love to be a part of your 14!

And just for the record... I'm always accepting new 'stalkers' lol : )
  •  leslie 2 months ago
Yes! Aren't you glad you have the benefit of my organizational skills? wink
  •  nightengale 3 months ago
Hi Devin, That's an awesome idea, it could go so many ways! Shall I email you a rough draft of the first idea, and if that doesn't work for you, you can give me some feedback as to what direction you'd like it to go, then email you the next? Let me know! Geneva
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
thank you for getting rid of that unsightly zong for me, dear devin. Luckily, I pulled that one out from an old relationship, not my current one - but I can still feel that humiliation enough to write about it, for better or worse smile I still have writer's block, but the weekend is coming and I'll have more time to think!
  •  marklberry 3 months ago
    Devin,
I love the Princess Bride theme, and the way you've worked around multiple collaborations with duplicate postings.
    Cheers, MLB
  •  bking 3 months ago
Hey Devin. I see that you've left a little something on my doorstep. Sorry for that untimely response, but it seems I've fallen victim to Mr Fatchen's esteemed 'Hellish Home Improvement Company'. smile My daughter Ashly is getting her new room soon complete with a new floor, fresh paint and all of the other stuff that goes with it.

Of course I commandeered the empty room for a few hours yesterday! I'm off to listen now to see, or rather hear what you've been up to. Cheers.
  •  mattpierce 3 months ago
I knew it....I no sooner get to 11 and you have to put up 2 more to up me! wink
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
hahaha - you do anything you want, Devin big_smile And believe me -- No One -- No One -- should ever try to be another Eddie....Cookie Monster, maybe -- Eddie, no way.
  •  juravial 3 months ago
Thanks for the comments dude! Greatly appreciated
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
hey Devin, zero pressure on the lyrics -- I certainly didn't put too much effort into them smile Just *have fun* and do whatever you want - no expectations at all! Also, I will certainly understand if you don't have the time. iocanepower is fab. I especially liked the reference to Puss and Boots smile I'm going to want the CD when the month is over!

  •  errol 3 months ago
Are you critiquing my donation practices? smile
  •  anonymouse 3 months ago
thanks for your remarks. I'll have to give this some experimenting. (we shall see)
Funnily enough I always considered 150-200HZ to be the vox sweet spot. lol
  •  anonymouse 3 months ago
Thanks for your offer and listen.
i'm after basic tips like position of guitars, position of bass, vox; maybe eqs (i know this should be case-by-case but I'd like some pointers smile).
i'd rather have more 'distinction', separation, it all just sounds like a heap of mess to me.
Though I'm afraid because the initial vocals were low (and on same feed as guitar) i way over did it with vocal layers to compensate.
  •  juravial 3 months ago

  •  dasbinky 3 months ago
Dude, without major rearranging roughly 3% of my songs can be played at Open Mics. I've just learned that people have to accept that the full Das Binky Experience can only be achieved in recorded form, or with a 12-piece band.

    Devin,
Your Air Traffic Control spoken-radio-transmission song inspired my first post. I envision a spoken megaphone section in it (labeled within the lyrics). Let me know if these words inspire you: *22040

You just wait for the song I'm working on for tonight! smile
  •  carleybaer 3 months ago
That almost sounds like a challenge to write a song about green beer... big_smile I wouldn't mess with it, though. I would write a thoughtful, loving ode to honor it. Hmm... something to think about...

In years past when writing songs and I'd use expressions like "lazy as icing it" or "as fresh as a glove wash" or "Geesh! Your ugly as Don Cherry's Goatee, lemme help you pull your sweater over your head"...Well, maybe not that last one, yet! They'll at least understand me! smile
