I have to say, you make the best comments!
Constructive and sprinkled with humor!
Thank you buddy! 😀
Thanks for your encouraging feedback on 'LUCKY girl', I really appreciate you taking the time, will have a listen to what you are up to while I'm here!
In the metal version of that swg/jc collaboration, things turn out a little differently. Also we played this game once didn't we? Maybe you metallicized my Shadow Puppets song, does that sound familiar? It's a blur. Might or might not have happened. Something like...
You be the fingers for my hands
I'll be the time, slipping through like sand
You be the lips covering my teeth
I'll be the blood, running red and deep
Also, based on @janeg's comment below, you go around telling people their songs should be metallicalized a lot. Perhaps your therapist could help you with that little problem. Oh, his name's P. Watkinson? Then never metalmastermind!
I await the metal version of Red-Eyed Boar! Not the way it seems in my head but I'm sure your version is better. Thanks for checking out all my songs. I think I have three left of yours to listen to.
Hey Devin, Thanks for all the great comments in your comment spree!
I'll happily re-write Move The Plot Along for more sing along goodness. 😀 And I totally want your metal guitar on book 7/8/9! 😀
The tuning on I Am Not A Gun is actually standard tuning. The progression revolves around a F#m11 chord and other variations that let the top B and E strings ring as a drone. (the F#m11 is a pain to play!) If it sounded like one of my alt tuning songs, then I guess it's mission accomplished. 😀
Thank you for commenting on two of my songs, "Don't Go" and "This Love We Share." I see that you've reached the cusp of greatness...13!! Only one more to go!! You can do it!!! I'm just hoping to reach 10.
Hey man! A bunch of excuses can be boiled down into: Titanfall 2. Started playing this last week. I think it might ruin my FAWM too 😀 it's sooooo good though!
Deckard Cain has to wait til next FAWM I'm afraid. But we are doing it. Oh yes
Hey Devin! Wow, you listened to and commented on my entire FAWM thus far! Thanks for all the compliments and advice! And congrats on your 10th anniversary FAWM too.
Since you asked, for the bass parts I either use a Schecter J-bass or a Peavey P-bass through a Tech21 VT Bass DI. The guitars (a Les Paul copy and a tele) are usually through a Dano Spring King reverb and then a Tech 21 Flyrig. Sometimes a fuzz pedal too, and sometimes double-tracked, panned left-right fuzz guitars to get a ginormous Billy Corgan wall of fuzz sound 😁
One more to make it. Not hard. Lots of time left (for you!)
I think I'm going to try and keep the "leaking" out of things for now ...
That was one fun review for our "The One in Black." Terminator/Beastie Boys... wow!
Hey Devin! Thanks for all the great comments!
The lead instrument on Minor Traffic Jam alternated between Jason's Taylor (I think) tracked direct and run through plugins and a Mandolin. I'm playing my Taylor into a mic for the base bed.
The drum process on We Are Sentinels is a set of drum loops from the Loop Loft - it required a bit of "programming", but I'm pretty happy with how it worked. (I'd prefer a live drummer, but who wouldn't 😉 )
I'm really glad you liked We Are Sentinels! It sounds like I got the vibe I was shooting for! 😀
Haha if only my kids were into dungeon crawling, alas they are too young yet to understand the great enjoyment it brings. We did go to the park today, thankfully there was no stomping involved! 😁
I just logged on now to see the song up and man that's awesome! Thanks for musicing that lyric up appreciate it a ton! <3 This one's gonna get a lot of play for sure, absolutely love it (little bridge and all 😁)
Gotta finish up some other stuff first, but sure! Lets hunt for treasure!
"Watch my fireball,
soar through the sky.
Let me rest a few hours,
and I can make shit fly"
Hey thanks for the kind comments! Honestly as I was writing it, I kind of imagined your voice on it (I'm just not so good at asking for collabs) so you most certainly can music it up! Thanks <3
Hiya Devin. Took me a while to find my way to you this year but here I am and there you are. Listening now to the collab with Arthur.
http://fawm.org/songs/67053/ Devin, it's in A, there are a lot of suspensions especially 4ths and 9ths. THe piano is playing in 4/4, one bar A as arpeggio, one bar G as arpeggio, with the melody using those suspensions (so it shows up usually as G6. Do you want the (unclean) sheet music? (piano and bass only. I winged it with the guitar)
Oh. Um... carry on, then. 😀 (Although now I'm quite curious about what you're planning!)
Hey, the very first line is that the tower is made of "steel," which is 100% accurate (and a metal)! And ceramics are a key component of cell antennas (although admittedly more on your phone than what's actually on the towers) and electronics and transistors (which almost certainly are in the towers).
I mean really, how dare you challenge the factual & scientific accuracy of my song about sentient, singing cell phone towers, forest animals, and spirits? 😝
Thanks for the feedback on Fake News Blues. It looks like you're off to a good start for FAWM 2017.
Thanks for your comments on my songs. You are far too kind! And if you want to turn Teen Screen into a metal song, I'd love to hear it!
Oh, Devin! Thanks so much for your positive words on "My Gravitational Getaway!" means a lot coming from a musician of your skill!
If you can't play with yourself, who can you play with?
Thank you for your kindness, Devin! Can't wait to hear what you've got cooking here.
Thanks for listening to the Perky Pat song. I always wonder whether I've put enough context in for the song to make sense to those who don't know the original material.
Hey thanks for the kind words. I used a couple of presets in logic. The background chords, a plate reverb and verb and delay for the solo. My friend and I are playing at The Cat'N'Fiddle in The Hammer today (4:30-7:30) if you want to stop by to say hello.
Lol, hey hoser!
We must collab!
Now that you got that fancy equipment!
Your comments are too kind, good sir.
I take back several of the things about you that I graffitied atop the CN Tower. Not all the things, but several of them.
Hey Devin! I would like to thank you sooooo much for the wonderful song that you made for "Your desire"! It is not only musically excellently done, you immensely improved the previous lyrics as well, and I really love the variation and the development within the first two lines of the chorus... Really, really wonderful throughout!
Thanks for your feedback! 😀 <3
Supes paging the bat.... can I buy some studio time this fawm? 😉
Good sir, may your FAWM be productive and awesome! I look forward to more of your tunecraft. (Ping me if you want to collab)
Happy FAWM, eh?! 😁
We're going to make that collab happen, right!?! 😀
[Insert scathing "yo mama" joke, designed to take you down a peg while acknowledging our mutual friendship and respect.]
Take that, man. Word.
Well then, can Devin come out to play? I'm not Bon Jovi either, yet here we are. 😀
