Artist Bio

Influences:   Folk is my favorite genre followed by celtic and good old rock & roll.

I'm the one on the right. My daughter and fellow FAWMer Dawn is to the left. I love it here. I've loved learning new instruments and meeting new people...and of course letting my muse have fun creating. My main 'instrument' is my voice, but I also play guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, autoharp, steel drum, piano, flute, and a very robust cowbell.

A note on comments: I do not intend to make my living with my music, but do want to get better, so gentle constructive comments are very welcome. If there is a certain song I'm thinking I may want to do in public I will ask for serious critique on that song and hope you'll let me have it πŸ˜€

I'll probably roll the story cubes a few times, and whack a cowbell. Maybe play with a quote or a bit of scripture. We'll see what February brings. Ultimately I hope to create something to lift my spirits and maybe yours too. I also look forward to collabs and taking part in some challenges. Always fun to be had. Happy FAWMing everyone!

Had to look it up since I've seen others marking the years:
FAWM 2011 - 14
FAWM 2012 - 16 (with three collabs)
FAWM 2013 - 16 (with five collabs)
FAWM 2014 - 13 (with one collab)
FAWM 2015 - 19 (with seven collabs)
FAWM 2016 - 18 (with five collabs...including the epic FAWM is Down)

Thank you very much for your comment on "Dust off Your Riveters", I had to do a little research to complete that one but it was well worth it. I tried to keep it as catchy as possibly but still really drive home the message.

  • @jamkar  Apr 4

Thanks Darci for commenting on my collaboration with Nadia!

  • @musicsongwriter Apr 3

Thank you Darci for your beautiful comment on my collaboration with Mike on Chose Love.

  • @snoozin  Mar 30

Thank you Darci for your feedback on Sunny Side of Addiction.

  • @crisp1  Mar 24

Thanks for your comment on The Freer I Feel. I see it as a song about someone trapped in depression who is freed by love. I love what @wacha did with it!

  • @snoozin  Mar 21

Hi Darci~thank you very much for your feedback on Lost in the Rain. Much appreciated! I'll be back later in the week to check out some more of your work. πŸ˜€

  • @audrey  Mar 19

Thanks for having a listen to my song "Christmas Memories" and for your kind words. I love the images in Hummingbear's lyrics for "Rocky Shores". They remind me of watching my two older brothers compete at skipping stones across the water up at the cottage on a hot lazy summer day. I'm still working on the music for her great lyric, but I'm slow. I'll try and post it soon.

  • @metalfoot  Mar 19

Thanks Darci! πŸ˜€ Glad you liked the duet between me and Liz.

  • @hummingbear Mar 14

The Camp website has been full of glitches, looks like your cabin invitation should be waiting for you there. Finally!

  • @famouspatrick  Mar 14

No suggestions coming in for the FOP, so how about the Applebee's in Roseville -1893 W Highway 36, Roseville, MN 55113; maybe at 11:30 AM this Saturday for the FOP?

  • @cindyrella  Mar 13

Thanks Darci for listening to my Silver Anniversary song with Audrey!

  • @audrey  Mar 12

Thanks for listening and for your kind words on "Silver Anniversary" So glad you could relate to it. Everyone should celebrate their long-time love, be it 10 years, 17 years, 25 years or 30 years (like mine). We are so lucky to have found "the one". Jean and I were married on Jan 17th. What's funny is that every year, we usually forget our anniversary on the day, but a few days later look at each other and say, "We did it again!! Forgot our anniversary." Sometimes he's the first to remember it late, sometimes it's me. But then we make a point of going out on a "date" to celebrate it. Ha ha ha. Maybe, after writing music for Cindy's fine words, I will remember it on time next year. πŸ˜‰

  • @zxcvbnm  Mar 7

Thanks for your comments on Cheat, it sounds like I've been a bad influence on you. ☺

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 7

Thank you so much Darci for your beautiful comments on my collaborations. It is always truly amazing to collaborate with Dawn and to hear how she brings so much warmth, kindness, harmony, musical feel and connects with each song in the most beautiful way. I'll be back listening.

  • @barbara  Mar 6

I claimed to have no regrets in that thread, but actually I do have one: I purchased a real cowbell while Christmas shopping, and I regret that I didn't find the right way to debut it during FAWM. But watch out, 50/90!

  • @zxcvbnm  Mar 6

Thanks for the comments on "We Love to Hate" We enjoyed making it too. Even my real wife laughed.

  • @reggiestyte Mar 6

Thanks for throwing some coins in my jukebox & the cheery words. Secret Agent Bacon might get his own song next FAWM. πŸ˜€

  • @yam655  Mar 5

Congratulations on hitting Century Club! πŸ˜€

  • @barbara  Mar 4

Thank you for your comments on 'Deluge' -- I keep on learning with GarageBand. I think you will enjoy it! Retirement and making music sound like they will go together perfectly!

  • @hummingbear Mar 3

My 50+ cabin is reconstituting but I'm not in charge of issuing invitations this year. (I was last year.) We have several indie authors and it's usually a pretty focused, productive group. Want me to contact you on the Camp website?

  • @jessica14  Mar 3

Thanks for listening to "lost socks"! This was a fun song to create (together with the footlings ...aren't they great πŸ˜€ ) I did my washing today and I was smiling about the single sock I found! And congrats on all the songs you wrote this year! You go girrrl!

  • @acousticmaddie  Mar 3

Thanks for your kind words on "If God was a garden gnome". Very appreciated.

  • @tuomoh Mar 3

Thanks for your nice words on "Freedom To Burn"! In times like these it's impossible for me not to write at least some words about the situation. Music definitely is a relief!

  • @famouspatrick  Mar 2

Thanks for the nice comment on "St. Someone's Gym." Journalling with a tune - I like that. πŸ‘πŸ»

  • @karan  Mar 2

The FAWMku imsomnia was exactly what inspired my song! Well spotted! πŸ˜€

  • @squeakmouse73 Mar 2

Thank you, Darcy, for your encouragement. Hoping by FAWM next year I have the size of folk instruments collection you do. πŸ˜€ Big dream, but a dream no less. You're a very talented woman.

  • @johnstaples  Mar 2

Thanks for the nice comment on "Only One Survives"! Very interesting that it worked after Ash Wednesday services! I guess it has some of that universal appeal stuff they talk about! πŸ˜€ I'll be listening to more of your stuff very soon!

  • @bitshred  Mar 2

Thanks for listening to my song Darci, I appreciate ya!

  • @metalfoot  Mar 2

When my sister played the Northern Lights song for my mom and dad, "Now mom and dad are complaining about dad not writingβ€Ž mom beautiful music. πŸ˜‰" It was a treat and a treasure to work with zecoop on that track. I've joked that I have to retire from FAWM now because I'll never come up with a more perfect song.

  • @famouspatrick  Mar 1

I hope your FAWM was great! I left a post in the Midwest: Twin Cities forum, to see if anybody wants to get together for an After-FAWM party. Reply there if you want to do it!

  • @prsrose  Feb 28

Thanks for the comments on 'One Down'... Isn't it amazing when the right words or song find us right when we need to hear them? I'm sure whatever path you take will be the right one... trust the process.

  • @tiller2  Feb 28

Thanks for your nice comment on "Smoldering Coals." I am glad that, despite the difficulties you've been dealing with, you've had a productive month.

  • @aneil Feb 28

Thx for comment it made me write I'm a FAWM star enjoy

  • @julesbf  Feb 28

Tanks for your comments on Spem, I went for the Latin as a way of removing the immediate ability to understand the meaning. That need to do further enquiry to find out meaning, that was my intention anyway πŸ˜€

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 28

That was fast and that was beautiful! You and Luke are a great pair! I hope it is a long and loving relationship the two of you have together and that you play together often.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 27

Hi Darci, you had mentioned you might do My song Super, are you still thinking you might?

  • @metalfoot  Feb 25

Sapient is an amazing talent, isn't he? He had a ton of fun with the Helga lyrics and took it places musically I never could have!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 25

The link in the liner notes should work-- try that one! (I Can't Forget)

  • @krayzie003  Feb 16

Thanks for your comments. I'm going to watch list you so I can listen to your music later.

  • @cblack  Feb 16

Really glad you liked it! It's definitely the most fun song I've made so far. 😁

  • @scubed  Feb 9

Thanks so much for your lovely comment about my collab effort with Liz! πŸ˜€

  • @timfatchen  Feb 9

I haven't even looked in! Fixing that now.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 8

    Awesome to both!!!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 8

Darci, are you interested in doing any collaborations this year? If so I thought you might be great on

    http://fawm.org/songs/67758/

Or if you wanted something more quirky I have a song about dim sum and love. Also any interest in thinking about a state wide FOP? I know you have relatives in this area - we often have a small FOP in Madison bit if others were interested we might be able to think about something Texas style!

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 7

Thanks for listening to my song "Underneath The Tree", I appreciate it.

  • @dragondreams  Feb 6

Jeffrey was so pleased with your comment, Princess. 😊
Unfortunately, your praise gave him one of his "turns" and we've had to lock him in the North Tower until it passes. We've got him a cold compress and a bowl. He should be fine in a day or so... πŸ˜‰

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 5

Thank you, Darci. My heart is dripping off my sleeve this FAWM which is probably not wise but songwriting is more fun and less expensive than therapy!

  • @jamkar  Feb 5

    πŸ˜€
