Artist Bio

Influences:   Folk is my favorite genre followed by celtic and good old rock & roll.

I'm the one on the right. My daughter and fellow FAWMer Dawn is to the left. I love it here. I've loved learning new instruments and meeting new people...and of course letting my muse have fun creating. My main 'instrument' is my voice, but I also play guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, autoharp, steel drum, piano, flute, and a very robust cowbell.

A note on comments: I do not intend to make my living with my music, but do want to get better, so gentle constructive comments are very welcome. If there is a certain song I'm thinking I may want to do in public I will ask for serious critique on that song and hope you'll let me have it πŸ˜€

I'll probably roll the story cubes a few times, and whack a cowbell. Maybe play with a quote or a bit of scripture. I may do more lyric-only this year. My number one "job" is caregiver for my hubby who is reaching the middle stage of Alzheimer's. Recording takes more time than I may have. We'll see!

Happy FAWMing everyone!

Had to look it up since I've seen others marking the years:
FAWM 2011 - 14
FAWM 2012 - 16 (with three collabs)
FAWM 2013 - 16 (with five collabs)
FAWM 2014 - 13 (with one collab)
FAWM 2015 - 19 (with seven collabs)
FAWM 2016 - 18 (with five collabs...including the epic FAWM is Down)
FAWM 2017 - 16 (with one collab)
FAWM 2018 - 17 (with one collab)

Oh goodness, I wish that you could play electric guitars. They are so fun. However, you do so well with what you do. I think that there is a chance to gloss over things with electrics and such, but you are so exposed with the truly acoustic instruments. There is a great deal of courage in that. I enjoy that, too, but also "hide" a bit by layering....maybe it's not hiding, but it seems like that sometimes with the gutsy things that truly acoustic people (like yourself) put out there. Thanks for the comment! That was very nice.

  • @metalfoot  Mar 22

Yes. Let's keep on with the collaboration thing. πŸ˜€ Thanks for being such a blessing to me and my family, Darci.

  • @zecoop  Mar 21

So I started out (had to) with a song about the beach, since I am 100% about summer. (And like you, an stuck in the cold). But then saw you had a song about hot peppers! Two for two! Could you have a song about something else I love? Water parks! I love the coaster sides a little more but do love a good water park... Because that means the weather is hot. Loved the songs I heard, as always. I'll be back for more. πŸ˜€

  • @treble  Mar 12

Thanks for your compliments on "Rocky Shores," it turned out so well. How's it going - I read about Al. I have two close friends with Al sneaking in early. msculli1 doesn't have music yet, but he posted "Patience" http://fawm.org/songs/87749/.

  • @audrey  Mar 7

Thank you so much for all of your kind words on my songs. It means a lot to me. I'm glad you found some hope in "Hate". We meant it to be so at the end, a sort of rallying cry to say that, as in the past (e.g., Martin Luther King) real change IS possible. Thank you again fellow FAWMer.

  • @writeandwrong  Mar 5

My best friend's dad passed from Alzheimer's last year. He would call me every so often and then introduce himself, explain that he had Alzheimers, and then ask me why I'd called. I am still not 100% certain whether he was just messing with me - he had a perverse sense of humour.

Don't know if you've heard about this: http://www.radiolab.org/story/bringin...

It's not a cure, but, it seems promising.

  • @pariskis Feb 28

Sorry I was late to your skirmish, Darci. But I had to jump in. Dealing with a death in the family (I'll share more details when I can) and had to go out to the grocery store right around the time your skirmish started. I'm in a fog. What I was trying to convey in my lyric.

Thank you for your generous comment on my skirmish song - much appreciated!

  • @yam655 Feb 11

All of my videos with multiple songs follow the same general visual style. In the lower left there's a number. That number starts at "1" and increases for each song. If I didn't have it, I'd have no hope of separating things. πŸ˜€ (Though, I do try to keep some silence between, sometimes a tune can be sneaky and pop up again.)

  • @barbara  Feb 11

Acrostic! Yes, I knew there was a word for it, but it was wayyyy out of reach! πŸ˜‰ Thank you for clearing that up.
