Frequently adequate. Disappointing quality, otherwise great. I'm tall, but I sell myself short.

No need to ask permission if you want to throw these songs on "FAWM Radio" stuff! Go nuts. Especially if you are wild and/or crazy guys.

    Whoops! Fixed!

  • @oblivionratula  Mar 1

Thanks for listening to "Father Daughter Chat." Number station is an interesting comparison. I hope we're sending out a good message to the resistance!

  • @captainvulpine  Feb 28

AYAAA! Tis banjo you hear, and the out of tune bells are a toy piano from the 40s.
I've never told anyone this, but to decipher my lyrics you simply need access to a codex which is constantly shifting throughout various songs and one mostly unwritten tale of accounts. When you find it, there's a legend that'll lead to one of two sacred texts. If you can find a witch doctor to translate you'll realize it's all just bullshit.

  • @ianuarius  Feb 26

    Heh,10 tabs? Try 100 😁

Honestly, the title just refers to that weird 80s sci-fi fascination with that airbrush chrome look.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • @barbara  Feb 26

I've probably only proven how ignorant i am by arguing that point with you. thanks for your feedback on the possible issues. 😀

  • @barbara  Feb 26

I disagree, because I use it for ALL my recordings. I just usually set up in the bedroom with a pile of pillows, and I mic the vox and guitar on separate tracks. This one was worse, or at least I thought so, because I was in a very noisy spot, and didn't close mic anything.

  • @barbara  Feb 26

Well, I'm going to keep spamming yours, nyah!
Cuz one last thing about the noise. I always still record into my phone's built-in mic. That snow-y song was with the iphone sitting just inches away and right in front of a noisy PC box ("whirrrrrrr"). Lazy, for reals.

  • @barbara  Feb 26

In the GB app, you can set which key the song is in and for the automated instruments there is a layout of about 10 standard chords you might find in that key. However, within the settings there are also some rotators that let you dial different chords in for those 10 or so chord slots available, with all kinds of chord colorartions available. So I custom-picked what I wanted as my chords. That's what took some time. Then, you can let it play them for you in a pre-set pattern (4 or so to select from, not very satisfactory), OR.... you can (in the case of the guitar instrument) strum the touchscreen, cruising over the image of a set of strings displayed for each chord, side-by-side. You could actually finger-pick in theory, but you'd have to be incredibly nimble. I have managed to learn to make it 'mine' and I'm pretty proud, if I do say so myself! And this is on an iPhone 6, not an iPad or iPad mini.

  • @barbara  Feb 26

Thank you for the favor of that de-blizzarding! I was so lazy for that recording, sat right at my computer, no sound damping, nothing, and then loaded it up with effects.

  • @barbara  Feb 25

I just got that effect at "Sonic Snowstorms 'R' Us" - why in god's name would you want to remove it???
    😉
Can I hear the cleaned up version?

  • @ihelen Feb 25

Thank you for explaining all that to me. I never heard of that particular 'theory' but now the lyrics make so much more sense to me! I'm always reading too much into everything, probably. Anyway, I really enjoyed your song and it's even better now that I understand it. 😀

  • @ihelen Feb 25

Thank you for your kind comments on the Roses song. 😀

  • @oblivionratula  Feb 23

Thanks for the listen/comment on "Quaker Conversation." He's a goof!

It's funny, we guitarists can obsess over tone and effects, proper mic'ing, and whatnot, and often what REALLY works is just pressing record and playing the best you can play. Tone is in the fingers as they say. That said, that tiny bit of dirt from a classic Boss Blues Driver doesn't hurt. 😁 Cheers!

  • @johncrossman  Feb 22

Food, dude. Fun after-the-fact fact, the narrator/pitch-man says"well" at least 6 times. D'oh. Or D'ough. Oh well.

  • @joshbelville  Feb 22

Hey cowex, if you have some time/energy, I'd like to chat at you re: some piano arrangement for a song I wrote. It's for a musical and might be somewhat complicated? Maybe not for you though!

  • @mmmmarcus  Feb 21

Wow thank you so much for the nice comments on my tracks! I'm glad you liked them. Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment. I've had quite a spread of genres this FAWM (and yep, first one, haha), and it's been crazy fun.

You have some seriously amazing stuff on here! Looking forward to hearing some more!

  • @johncrossman  Feb 19

Just sent some rinky dink guitar chords, see how they compare. I feel there will be demand for a sequel or some sort of resolution. I'm circulating a petition to see if it can gain traction. Twould be awfully fair-minded to enlist other sequellers. 😞 or 😀

  • @charliecheney  Feb 18

I listened to Krypton twice this morning to get my day started with a funky dance party. Love it so much, thank you!

  • @barbara  Feb 17

Oh dear, you have me giggling like a hyena! You should see someone about that.

  • @barbara  Feb 17

I don't know, Mr. Moo, I generally don't like my beets folded... pulverized for me, just for the pink!

  • @charliecheney  Feb 14

Yaaaaaay! That would be so wonderful. How about this for a starter Idea? See if you like it. Change it, flange it, re-arrange it any way you like, or ask for something completely new, that's all right too. http://fawm.org/songs/82666/

  • @stevenwesleyguiles  Feb 13

LOL. I have the identical conversation with MY plugins.
Steven: Hi, my name is Steven. It's been 3 seconds since I last cursed out loud at my plugin.
    Group: HI STEVEN.

  • @stevenwesleyguiles  Feb 13

Um...could I trouble you to play bass on something perhaps?
I'm trying, but my bass-ing is subpar when it comes to the funk...I think you can be funky or soulful from what I'm hearing.

I have a funk/soul/hiphop thing I'm working on that could use a good bass player...

Any chance? Let a brother know. 😀 Thanks!

  • @splittybooms  Feb 12

oy sorry for blowing up your soundboard! but i just saw the other comments.
I gotta admit I'm loving how my songs are being described. 'Bah Dee Ahh' needs a Confident Mouse video for it now. That was a super fun song to make.
And yeah man, once Reason opened up to VSTs, I went crazy. They have a subscription service so you can try out whatever you want monthly. Its bananas.

  • @splittybooms  Feb 12

also, thanks on 'take the bait'.
knowing someone might be thinking of something I made while they are doing one of the most awesome actions humanly possible has made this whole thing worth it! lol

  • @splittybooms  Feb 12

I'm hoping to meet the goal!
Yeah, this community has been unlike anything I've ever known. Soundcloud comments are far and few between, all other platforms...pfft fahgetaboutit.
But here, I get to engage with folks like you and everyone else who stops by. I have to step up my comment/listening game, though.
And I was just saying the bass in your song is one of the things for me that give it its character. I don't feel it needs to be changed, but just my opinion, yo.

  • @adnama17  Feb 12

Hey! Thanks for all the great comments. 😀
I didn't read your bio when I stopped by earlier. Jack's Mannequin is an all-time fave of mine too! I'm pretty sure I've got all of "Everything in Transit" memorized. 😁

  • @splittybooms  Feb 10

I really can't remember well, but I think it took about 2 hours to put my song together.

I was asking about the time put in because I'm honestly so prone to making loops upon loops upon loops, with an actual fleshed out song (usually instrumental only) popping up at a very lop-sided ratio.

I have always felt I should spend longer on my tracks before I post them anywhere, which right now is only soundcloud. But I end being afraid of tinkering further in fear that I'll lose the vibe I had going and also that I'll mess it up. So I just kinda say "ok that's enough" and put it out there. One reason I've been posting stuff much less frequently lately.

'We Put A Man On The Moon' sounds to me like something that would take days to write.
Music as good as that song...just speaks to the talent of the composer to be able to make it so quickly. So yeah, big ups cowex! Thank you for the insight, and I'll definitely be adding it to my data banks.
Btw - the bass choice is a key part in t

  • @fonte  Feb 8

Just stumbled accross you're tracks. I am now officially a fan!!

  • @balancelost  Feb 7

Thanks for your support, man! It's enough to eradicate the doubts.

  • @philnorman  Feb 5

I'm here. I just had the flu, which is less than ideal.

  • @barbara  Feb 5

See there? Very image-rich. I want to slice your head off next time!!

  • @barbara  Feb 5

Whew! I was afraid I'd be lyrics-only too. And I really need to get back to the basics of writing images and story, cuz "coachy" is probably the new "preachy." There's a market for self-help songs, though, right?
    😉

  • @jodv  Feb 4

The Monster Mash, eh? I'm flattered. Or offended. I'm not sure which. ;p

  • @vegansongs  Feb 4

Thanks for giving my vegansong "Twist and Turn " a listen and for my bustin' my zong!

  • @mikegtz  Feb 3

Hey there, welcome back to the show. Listening to Man On The Moon as I write this. Will be checking in regularly.

  • @expendablefriend  Feb 3

You are here! And there are two delicious songs ready and waiting for me! I am a happy owl.

  • @charliecheney  Jan 21

I like my frogs dilled and my cows exed. My plats eau'd and my pure cane sugar well-mixed. Great to see you here, fine lad.

  • @johncrossman  Jan 17

I'm tempted to spew a bunch of words here, but I resist. Here's hoping you're existent here next month, sock and sandals optional. Unleash and unlock some tunes!

  • @barbara  Jan 16

I heard the unmistakable "Moo, moo, moo"... Pleased you're here!

  • @debs  Jan 15

THE BANANA GOAT APPROACHES!!! Hello, my friend!
