Wow, thank you very much for still listening. I lurk around occasionally, but generally it already seems pretty empty around here. Thanks for your kind comment!

  • @sbs2018 Mar 15

Thank you for your kind comment on โ€œUpside Down.โ€

  • @infilktion Mar 9

I enjoyed the extra listens so I do not feel as if it unbalanced the fairness.

  • @fonte  Mar 8

Hey mr coolparadiso! Just wanted to say thank so much for your thoughtful listen to my 'album' and the kind and positive comments. It means a lot and much appreciated. I am working my way through yours and really enjoying it so far. It's great for me to listen to stuff that is more stripped down and focuses on 'the song' as I tend to overproduce I think because i feel more comfortable doing that, but it's really great listening to stuff that is a bit more raw and connects more to the vocals and lyrics. It's actually inspired me to try some songs just me and guitar which is scarey!! I'll keep u posted and comment on the other tracks ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @billwhite51 Mar 8

congratulations on the marriae. it will be five years for me, after six years on the net. i knew we had many things in common.

  • @fonte  Mar 6

Yep I'm still up for the album swap if u are! I'm hoping to have some time to do this properly next week.

  • @driftwood1  Mar 6

No worries, i had already hit a few you had listed during Feb so I grabbed a couple others. I enjoyed the dive in. You had quite a productive month!

  • @billwhite51 Mar 6

thank you for swapping albums with me. im going to go back and listen to your collabs again and leave seperate comments on each of the songs, as you dd with mine. Your comments really made my day. it is rare that i feel i have actually communicated something worthwhile in a song , ive been writing them for 50 years, and this album is the frist time i really wrote extensively about what was on my mind, rather than just ideas that i got for songs, i have to admit that none of them came out exactly as i hoped they would, but i think the ideas came across. note...many of the names on pornography of democracy are CNN newspeople.

  • @billwhite51 Mar 5

because of the length restrictions here, you will have to begn reading this review at the bottom, which is three comments down, and then read upward,,

  • @billwhite51 Mar 5

. It is not simply about racism, but ignorance of all kinds, using a color wheel as the symbol both of color equality and prejudicial preference.

Your own Bermuda Trail is evidence of how and why your own songs work better in the context of this album than the sometimes flashier collabs. The generic bad in a box arrangement of Slow Motion just doesnโ€™t cut it when placed alongside the relaxed and sincere vocals of Bermuda Trail. Flamboyance In itself, Slow Motion is a decent track, but its flamboyance decimates the mood you have so artfully set up. Its like hearing a Madonna song on a Leonard Cohen record.

In the Silence is, in my opinion, the best song on the album. It is the real sound of a man trying to deal with his pain through song. The silence is where most of the pain lies, but it is also where you can discover who you really are. And that can be a painful yet wondrous thing. And finally, Beautiful to me. It is the perfect closer.

  • @billwhite51 Mar 5

Following this with a collab with the fantastic Israeli musician and lyricist Haim, who wrote the first two verses, offers a sudden change of perspective without disrupting the flow. His lyrics are more philosophical, while you take things down to the everyday facts of life and love, and loss, topping it off with an optimistic chorus that promises a sun that shines brightest after the rain is hardest.

The slow and insistent piano of Washed out in Warwick both anchors and tows this modern history chronicle. You raw a desolate portrait of an area hit by natural disaster in a country the government of which provides no relief. Or assistance, a situation common to many governments in these days in which the function of government is simply to rob the national treasury. The lightly strummed yet passionate acoustic guitar in Color Blind aptly supports the songs central question of what kind of blindness are you? The question is pointed, yet open to interpretation. It is not simply about

  • @billwhite51 Mar 5

First i would reccomend doing a seperate album with the collabs as the tone is so differet from your solo work that they clash. you have plenty of more solo songs to flesh out a solo album, and the collab album would be a joy in itself, So, to the album at hand...... you cant lose when you kick things off with a shot of tequila. And your character here really needs that shot, or perhaps the whole bottle, and probalby something else as well. You maintain a happy equilibrium with your ukelele, while the lyrics dance across the same chord with a lift at the end of each line. But the lyrics tell the straight ahead story of failure, loneliness, and despair ..not exactly the erotic tequila fantasy with the sweat, salt, and lemon that we see in hollywood movies set in mexican cantinas. you paint a realist picture.

  • @srcoops Mar 5

Thanks for the kind words on My Grandpa. I enjoyed our collab. See you next year I hope.

  • @zecoop  Mar 4

Appreciate it, my friend... No worries - Thanks for listening. I'm enjoying yours. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @fonte  Mar 3

Great! Happy to album swap with you and will listen to the ones you noted - may not get round to this until next week just to let you know but it's on my list now for sure!!

  • @mmmmarcus  Mar 3

Thank you very much for the kind comment on "Help Yourself"! Glad you liked the track, I loved that collab!

  • @sapient  Mar 2

Thank you for leading me on a journey through your FAWM... What a ride! Such diversity, and, like me, you snagged some excellent collab partners along the way to help add different shades of colour.
    I really enjoyed that ๐Ÿ˜

  • @srcoops Mar 2

Thank you for your kind words regarding Divided World.

  • @moonraccoon  Mar 2

Thank you in return for our collab. I'm really happy with how it turned out ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @tinattd  Mar 1

Mate you killed it-- 54!! Thanks so much for all your comments, I owe you a fistful - imma spend the next few weeks catching up on listening and commenting. You'd smash 50/90 - that starts in July, 50 songs in 90 days.

  • @w1n  Mar 1

I've seen Dengue Fever live a couple of times, shared a backstage with them at a festival once, super nice people. They who sparked my interest in Cambodian music in the first place.

  • @alyxanderjames  Feb 28

Thank you so much for all your comments and encouragement, man! I really appreciate it! I'm way behind on listening, but plan to do a lot of that this next month. I've loved everything of yours that I've listened to so far!

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 28

    Just sent you an email.

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 28

Hey @coolparadiso. I've got an acoustic one-take draft of "On the Fence." How should I share it with you for review?

  • @captainillegible  Feb 28

I know! What was I thinking?

  • @tcelliott  Feb 27

I tagged you in a forum post. Let me know if you can't find it.

  • @haim  Feb 27

I've just listened, awesome. Great job at the finish line! You can add something to the liner notes too about the music. Nice to collab with you! I wish I had time to work on the song you sent me.. The lyrics are great but I just have no time and I know that after fawm I just keep these things unresolved.

  • @berni1954  Feb 27

Thanks for checking out my "Spanish Inquisition" folk-rap.
"Go get them!"? Sadly, that is what the people of Spain chanted as their paramilitary police forces left for Catalonia to baton charge ordinary peaceful people trying to vote on October 1st last year. ๐Ÿ˜ž

We are peacefully still trying to advance our cause - despite the most ferocious opposition from the central government in Spain.

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 27

Iโ€™ll check it out. Coming near completion on a fast paced lyrical beast as a sort of capstone for developing a consistent lyrical process. Thatโ€™ll be my #14 but Iโ€™ll check it out once Iโ€™m done with this puppy. Just 1/3 of a bridge to go. ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi man, I still have one song to finish to get to 14 since one song is double. I need to finish the song before I do anything else wanna use my time wisely, so unfortunately I will not put music on "Goodbye". Hope you understand!

  • @kevinemmrich  Feb 26

Over 50 songs and 400+ comments!!! You became a fawm superstar in your first fawm!

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 26

Thank you! I really appreciate that you took the time to listen to several!

  • @haim  Feb 26

Hii.. sorry i didnt see your message. Ill check it out today.

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 26

Thanks so much for your compliments on "Pick a Fight." Really appreciate it!

  • @marthie Feb 26 and I hope you like it. Thank you for the opportunity. I accredited your FAWM name- let me know if this is sufficient.

  • @tan482  Feb 26

Thanks for your kind words on my songs! You are having a super productive FAWM ๐Ÿ˜

  • @mikeskliar  Feb 26

thanks for your note! bards of gridlock album you asked about is here...

  • @gslade Feb 26

Thanks for you supportive feedback. Regarding Lennon, he changed the way I saw music. He made me realize the power of songs, even though I didn't even know about him until a decade after his death.

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 25

Normally I would say yes, but Iโ€™m flying in two days back on tour and I have fourteen songs of my own to post demos and two neglected collaborations. Damn! And thank you for the honour of your asking!!

  • @russiasaturn Feb 25

Hey! Just wanted to drop a quick note and let you know I found someone to help me with those lyrics, but thank you so much for being willing to help out! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 25

  • @kevinmason  Feb 25

I suppose most outbacks are probably waning these days..

  • @moonraccoon  Feb 25

I am ๐Ÿ˜€ I've made a recording, and all it needs is some editing attention from me and a beer.

  • @haim  Feb 25

    My pleasure... thank you too!

  • @barbara  Feb 25

Thank you for the comment; I do like "bit of nonsense" for my song, yes I do!

  • @mikedebenham  Feb 25

I'll be back later, but I just wanted to say thanks for all the comments this month. Really appreciated. You're a champ.

  • @gslade Feb 25

I'm jealous of your productivity. Awesome job this year.

  • @haim  Feb 24

Haha nevermind we are confused a little.
I don't want to write music for it it's gonna be to emotional for me .... If you will do it it will be really nice, if not it's still okay. Anyways I'll combine it now with the original song and do it as a collab. If you have a track just feel free to attach it to song number 7 on my profile, I will add you as collaborator in a few minutes. If you got no time or can't figure something out it will just stay like that, all is good no worries. I haven't forgot about the song you sent me by the way, I'll try to goof around it this week and see if I can come up with something.

  • @treble  Feb 24

Thanks so much for your comments on my skirmish song, "No Excuse."

  • @haim  Feb 24

By the way, if you work on music, then I'll add it to the original song on my profile, I thought you are not. Should we postpone the publishing to after you have the song?

  • @haim  Feb 24

You mean to call the song "The Two of Us"? if yes then sure go ahead and change it.

  • @marthie Feb 24

Hey, thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!

  • @haim  Feb 24

Hi, I'm uploading the lyrics you sent me with mine. You can add your liner notes if you'd like, gonna finish in a few minutes.

  • @kevinemmrich  Feb 24

I'll wait a little bit to see if you post a demo on "No Way" before commenting. Well at least a few hours! I've gotten to everyone else who did the skirmish.

  • @zxcvbnm  Feb 24

Thanks for you comments on Rubber gear, If you want to suffer more the rough demo is up. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @brrrse  Feb 24

I can't find the thread for your skirmish that's next..... Can you tag me in it so I can find it please? Thanks!!

    Got it, thanks! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @scubed  Feb 21

Thanks for volunteering to host a skirmish this weekend! ๐Ÿ˜€

All you need to do is start a new topic in the Skirmishes forum, then post the prompt at the appointed hour. You can use a previous Skirmish topic as a cut-and-paste template, making the necessary changes to the designated host, skirmish number, and so forth.

I usually set up the skirmish topic a couple of hours ahead of time, with "TBA" in the skirmish prompt line, then go in and edit when the skirmish starts. I also announce the prompt in a brand-new post in the thread.

I hope this is clear. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • @haim  Feb 21

Hi. I wasn't here for a while, I'd love if you try to do something with my song "No title yet". Go on, you have a green light.

  • @tjeff  Feb 21

Cool! Why donโ€™t you send a lyric to me - Thx!

  • @dutch1967 Feb 21

Glad you liked Put It On Repeat. Just a bit of fun.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 20

Thank you for continuously supporting and encouraging me.

  • @unclephilly Feb 20

Thanks for the kind words on my song Nocturne. And funnily enough you're bang on, the song is in E! (Although maybe more of an A Lydian feel in most places?)

  • @srcoops Feb 20

I would be pleased to have youworkwithChair Man.

  • @tan482  Feb 20

Thanks for listening and for your kind words. Glad you're having an awesome FAWM ๐Ÿ˜

  • @rustyp  Feb 19

Good evening Sir and thanks so much for your kind feedback on my song. ๐Ÿ˜€ It was a lot of fun and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll check out some of your songs when the sun comes back up here. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @mmmmarcus  Feb 19

Thank you very much for the comment on "Sushi Sunday"! Glad you liked the track!

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 18

I know what you mean, if I was smart I'd leave BiaB out where my 10 year old grandson can get to it tomorrow when I leave for work and by the time I got home I'll bet he writes up and records backing tracks for half a dozen Imagine Dragon songs. ๐Ÿ˜

  • @tjeff  Feb 18

Hi, just posted Unopened Letter. Hope ya like.

  • @tjeff  Feb 18

I have something in mind, should get to it today.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 18

Yes Ive heard Spicy. Thats also great

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 17

Cool. Just so i get it right you want me to put a new version up with the song? Cuz otherwise just add me to the old one.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 17

I would love to have the honor to do that.
Will be lat(e)r today though since I am on my way to soundedit a show. Thanks for considering me.

  • @lowhum  Feb 16

Hi - mate - I received an email from you but no lyrics - do you mind if I grab one of the above and give them a try?

  • @asladders Feb 15

Re: Emotive singing/The Clash - What a compliment! Lately, I practice how/what I feel, when playing these demos. Such a cool thing to say. Thank you!
