Artist Bio

Influences:   Folk and Indie artist fan. Some of my favorites are Indigo Girls, Abigail Washburn, Janet Feld, Dar Williams. Because of FAWM, I am becoming a great fan of some of the artists here, too.

This is my second FAWM. Last year, I wrote and wrote and even did a couple collaborations, despite having never having recorded anything before and contracting laryngitis in the last week. Murphy's Law. I found everyone's feedback so helpful, and I look forward to giving you constructive remarks and listening to your stuff.

I am hoping to write some great folksy tunes this time around and get better at performing and recording stuff. Wish me luck!

You are so kind and wonderful and I really appreciate you. So caring. Thanks for your comments. It means the world to me that I could make you smile. You are great and I hope to give you a hug sometime soon ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @wacha Mar 1

Thank you very much for your comment on "Mandy Lane". I tend to be a bit of an aggressive player which leads to the percussive strumming. It does work well for certain songs.

  • @sueawesome Mar 1

thank you so much for the comment on the demo for our favorite song.

I'd have to agree it's worth good money..all of which would go to @johncrossman for all that he put into it

  • @tiller2  Mar 1

Hahaha, I wish I knew a Shelly Beach! ๐Ÿ˜ Ya, fiction but that construct has been in my mind for a long time. That's how my mind works. Thanks for your lovely comment, for that lyric, and for Space Planes!

  • @haim  Mar 1

    Hi.... congrats on your 14!
I uploaded the last 2 songs if you wanna hear'em, soundcloud is up again.

  • @tiller2  Feb 28

Hi, you asked to know when there was music for my "They Promised Us Space Planes," and, although my collab partner dropped out, I just came up with something and would love your thoughts

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 28

    Dear Colleen,
Gosh, I am so sorry๐Ÿ˜”. I should know better than to make assumptions especially given my own history of relationships. I too embrace polysexual as for me it has always been about the individual. I have now been with the same woman as my primary partner for 31 years so am functionally identified as lesbian by all who know me in this life but if something changed in our relationship in the future I would be very open to exploring loving relationships with any person where the emotional connection and chemistry existed. At my age now though, not sure anyone would be remotely interested! In any event that song is one of my favorite from this FAWM as it is written from a place in my heart where I have been struggling with feelings and your musical sensibilty and sensitivity were so beautiful and moving. My apologies and my deepest gratitide! And regarding churches and these issues .... I have a deep faith and sense of spirituality and am so lucky I found a religious commun

  • @izaakalexander  Feb 28

Thanks for all your commentary on my work this month, so kind of you to listen and comment so regularly!

  • @emplate Feb 28

Thank you for your kind words on "With Spears And Arrows", I truly appreciate it! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 28

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen to my songs. Like children (I don't have any of my own, yet), they came out rather more diverse than I expected, but I love them all, even if I can't believe they came from me. ๐Ÿ˜€ I can see how you'd think these might be suited to a musical-theater package, given their diversity. Thanks very much for your support & encouragement. I really appreciate it.

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 28

Thanks so much for your kind encouragement regarding my song, "People Said," @colgoo! I've only thought of putting together a musical theater production in passing. Never gave it too much thought. Don't think I could be satisfied with the product for a VERY long time. Thank you for the compliment on my "storytelling." I try to uncover (like an archaeologist) what the song's story is meant to be. I tend to be very limited with my words, mostly because I'm a perfectionist and am limited at this point in my lyrical ability - the lyrics are the hardest part for me. FAWM has been great for helping me work out a process for writing lyrics! Didn't come anywhere near 14, but 7 songs I can mark as "favorites" is pretty darn good, compared to my previous 4 over 8 years!

  • @reisupstudio  Feb 28

Thank you for your comments on my lyrics for The Echo Chamber! I finally had a chance to record it simply here at home. I hope you like it!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 28

Hey! Thank you sooooooo much for the beautiful, sweet song that you made for "Unconditional love"! I am very, VERY happy how it turned out. Such a lovely tender melody, and your lovely voice shines so brightly all the time, great way of singing with a lot of emotion... I really really like it very much... Thanks so much for having given me the honor again...

  • @marthie Feb 27

Thank you: to mention me and ~Barbara in one sentence is an honour...

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 27

Love your music. If you want any other collabs, let me know - the Purpose of You, Sleepless Without You, or The Beauty of You are ones I wrote over the weekend that could be lovely ballads but not when I try to sing them!

  • @mishykatz  Feb 27

    Thanks for the feedback!! <3

  • @mishykatz  Feb 27

Here is the demo for my song for my mom from waaay back on day one...thank you again for the nice comment on the lyrics and have a listen when you have time! home stretch!!!

  • @vegansongs Feb 25

Hi, Thank you for heartfelt comment and support on my grief song
" Fight the Good Fight, Babe" . I will keep working on it after Fawm.

  • @haim  Feb 23

I like your interpretation on my last song (skirmish) "Strawberry Jam". I think one thing that went in my mind when I wrote it is really sexual thing... But I also thought about some more things that can be those strawberry jam... haha now I really have to think about what I wrote it, I guess this is what's so nice about skirmishes, that you don't really remember what you wrote about! Got some homework now ๐Ÿ˜

  • @sapient  Feb 22

    Alrighty! Let's give it a shot ๐Ÿ˜€
Is there a way I can contact you off of FAWM? You can get me at abomnium at gmail dot com

  • @sapient  Feb 22

You were kind enough to reach out in my "Help, I need a kick-start" thread on the forums. Thank you ๐Ÿ˜€
I wonder... quite often people send me lyrics and I end up doing bad things with them. Would you be interested in trying to do it the other way around? Where I write lyrics and you set them to music?
Let me know if you are interested... ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 20

Thanks for listening to "Gloria", I appreciate it!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 19

There could be no better offer! You know I totally love your music!

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 19

Thank you @colgoo for taking the time to listen to and review "Let Me Go." I appreciate your encouragement.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 19

I really like that idea, for "Welcome To Our Home" and I think I know what you're imagining... My range isn't the most flexible, but it does seem to spiral in that way lyrically. Thanks for listening!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 18

Thanks so much for your gorgeous comment on "Unconditional love"! I would love it! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @thebschip Feb 18

Congrats on 12 already! Thanks for listening and writing. I am watchlisting you to be able to come back and listen at my next break. Super excited to hear Bollywood Wedding. Thanks again!

I am so looking forward to a song entitled Lush Avacado Bath Bomb!!! What a fragrant image!

  • @sailingtowardsthesun Feb 16

Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my songs! Now that I recovered from the flu I might also get to writing some more again. Your FAWM is looking very successful so far. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Feb 16

colgoo, thanks for liking "Dust Clouds On Horizon". Even if it isn't recorded, you Mom-n-law will connect with her own life story.

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Feb 16

Howdy colgoo. Thank you for your sincere words on "Are You Sincere". Look up the origin of 'sincere'. It means "without wax" and comes from when Italian marblesmiths coated their statues in wax to make it smooth and shiny. Later the wax fluffed off and exposed the work as inferior. Without wax, it was the real thing, true, trustworthy.

  • @dukemeyer Feb 15

Hey, thank you for your nice comment - and correcting my lousy English ("kettle of fish")! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • @ihelen  Feb 15

Thank you so much for commenting on my spring song! It means much to me, considering how heavenly your singing voice is. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • @cheriehu42 Feb 13

Hi there!! Sorry for the slight delay, but thank you so much for your kind words on my songs and for sharing them as well ๐Ÿ˜€ I'll be away for around 10 days in mid-March, but would love to attend your FAWM meetup if I can make it. I think email is a much more convenient way to stay in touchโ€”please reach out at

  • @heuristicsinc  Feb 10

Yup, Mo Willems is great! She definitely got her inspiration from that. Think of it as a tribute ๐Ÿ˜€
    Thanks for the review!

  • @izaakalexander  Feb 10

Aw.. you're too kind!! Honestly, I've been multi-tracking since forever and I took my college music eduction pedagogy classes way too seriously. ๐Ÿ˜€ Besides this is my seventh FAWM and I usually record over thirty songs for the 50/90 challenge as well. I don't know exactly how I do it, but I'm drawing on a lifetime of creating music. I love this community because so much of what I hear reminds me of all the different stages of my personal journey, and gives me glimpses into other paths still unexplored.

  • @aprilm Feb 10

Thank you for listening and commenting on You Were the One. I hear the Fall to Pieces reference acoustic folky version, in a way.

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 10

Thanks @colgoo for listening and commenting on my song, "Time." I'm not sure if you saw my response there so I'm posting here. Someone told me that you won't see replies on my own page, only on yours. Thanks again!

  • @mishykatz  Feb 9

Thanks for the feedback on my song, have two four year old boys here today, they were the best inspiration! <3

  • @siebass  Feb 9

Thanks for coming to listen to In Our Home. I think it's really cool that your sister has her own special lullabye for her kids. My wife says now if we have another I'll have to write another song, but I can worry about that a few FAWMs down the road. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 9

Thanks for listening to "One on One With Nature" I really appreciate it!
I did the vocal before I got sick, but couldn't work on it until my ears felt better. LOL, still coughing.. whine, whine, whine, but I'm so done with being sick!

  • @brrrse  Feb 8

    Consent has a demo now.

Thank you for your kindness. It means a lot coming from you!

  • @fionna  Feb 8

Thanks so much for your feedback on "American Dream." After reading your comment, I think I might be trying too hard to make it universal. I'm gonna try looking at it again from my point of view instead of Generic Blue Collar Guy, ha ha!

  • @abudabard12514  Feb 8

Thanks for your feedback on my song "Bridgette"! There's a working soundcloud link now if you actually want to HEAR it, lol.

  • @jorh Feb 7

Apologies if you found it a little dark - I know it's a difficult topic to discuss, hope I did it justice though!

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 7

Thanks for listening to my song "Underneath The Tree", I appreciate it.

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 7

  • @spinhead  Feb 7

Also, you're my best friend all day today and part of tomorrow for liking "orangey pink" because I thought it was the one bit that was never gonna work.

  • @spinhead  Feb 7

We haven't checked any New England states off yet. Nothing past New York State. Someone in Maine owes me lobster anyway so maybe I'll go collect and play some music.

  • @spinhead  Feb 7

Re: extra instruments on "Big Dark Cloud" โ€” if I had a band, might could do that. It's just me, and for the past few months my wife playing keyboard bass.

Rainstick is good. I'm going to be making a couple, and I could dragoon an audience member into playing it. Hmmm . . .

  • @chandra83  Feb 7

Thank-you for all of your lovely feedback! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @arthurrossi Feb 7

I would like to thank you for this wonderful song that you made for "I wish I could believe"... The music is so beautiful, awesomely sad, but still with a touch of hope. I really love the melody and you performed it in such a lovely, empathetic way... I am very impressed... Thank you so much for this gorgeous song!

  • @sherrycanary  Feb 7

Thank you for coming by to listen to my French song.
The style is like a Parisian musette waltz, but musettes generally have an accordion

  • @arthurrossi Feb 6

Thanks so much for your lovely comment on "I wish I could believe"! Definitely YES! ๐Ÿ˜€ I would look very forward to it if you gave it a try... Please, feel free to alter the lyrics as you like... And also, please, let me know if you like me to add you as collaborator or if you prefer to re-post the eventual song, to me, either way is ok...

  • @barbara  Feb 4

Hi Colleen, Thank you SO much for your beautiful comment and for adding a mention in the recommended songs thread. A sweet surprise! I'm happy that following my instincts like a child at play led to something you would feel inclined to share. <3

  • @ladyred Feb 4

Thank- you for your feedback. <3 ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @haim  Feb 4

Oh great lord! Your comment on my song "Crazy Ideas" is lovely, I couldn't ask for more right now, really! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks a lot! and also thanks for mentioning me in the "vocalists that you like" on the forum.
To be honest with you, I read your comment on the forum and this is what made me think that I need to record a nice song that will show my vocals, I had some songs but they were not so good.. So I can say that you gave me inspiration to actually sit and try to write something instead of working on something that I wrote yesterday. So you have around 20% of the song process. Thanks again ๐Ÿ˜ see you around.

  • @faststrings Feb 3

Hey Colgoo thank you for the comment on the song I appreciate it.

  • @bethdesombre  Feb 3

Aww -- thanks for the mention on favorite vocalists! Especially because I've been feeling like my vocals are pretty rough this year, since I'm usually just doing one-take iPhone recordings at the end of a long day . . .

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 3

Thank you so much Colleen for your beautiful and so supportive comment on my lyric.

  • @krayzie003  Feb 3

Thanks for listening to my little ditty.

  • @raygungirls  Feb 3

Nice to "meet" you. Looks like we've been paired up for the Random Collab. Email me at info at raygungirls dot com and let's see what we can come up with!

  • @quork  Feb 3

Thanks for the kind words. But for the grace of god/roll of the dice anyone of us could be in that situation.

  • @natalieedelson  Feb 3

Thank you for your kind words on " here we go" looking forward to lhearing you!๐Ÿ™

  • @quork  Feb 3

Thanks for the kind words. But for the grace of god/roll of the dice anyone of us could be in that situation.

  • @mishykatz  Feb 3

Thanks for the uke song feedback!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 3

If you would like to try it it would be an honor to have you collaborate on it!

  • @cblack  Feb 3

Thanks! Not sure I'd be capable of putting a full orchestra on it, but possibly a simple drum line - mostly bass.

  • @guatecoop  Feb 3

Thanks for your comment! I think that this must be a year when we are all trying to incorporate instruments that we don't usually use. Hmm..wonder why? I guess that is what fawm is for. My farfisa is not a typical organ, as it is just like an accordion with 2 octaves of keys, but also 5 rows of buttons for octave, major, minor, and 7th....I wish it had diminished like an accordion has, but no billows to deal with. TMI, but now you know...
