Bio

I listen to so many different styles of music and I am very impressionable. So I will hear a song and go "I wanna write a music like that," so I will try, and get a song out of it, usually on with no resemblance to the track the originally inspired me.

So that’s me.

- Year four, as always collabs are welcome

awww, you are too nice -- that really made my day - thank you! It's a deal....I think!
  • psyt 2 months ago
    Thanks Codex. That was fun.
I'm uploading the track right now, hope you like the end result. smile
  • psyt 2 months ago
Hey codex. I just finished a new piece, and I was wondering if you wanna lay some vocals on top of it. I don't have any lyrics written for it, so you pretty much have carte blanche with it, unless you want me to write something.
If you're up for it, please send me the vocal track of what you come up with so I can abuse it a bit with effects. tongue
    Here's the instrumental: http://psy-t.com/120225-2.mp3
If not, let me know and I'll probably just post it as an instrumental. Tempo is 94bpm btw.
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
just kidding - take your time, I am super excited you are doing all of this!
  •  roelvanveldt 3 months ago
@Codex, I have my recording of the spoken parts and am waiting for a sign from you where I can post it, unless you prefer the open soundboard here to be used for exchange of audio files? I am prepared to play the piano part on Someone Still Cares, if you'd like that. smile

Btw, you can find my e-mail address on my profile page.

Well I never, these little messages will have to do then! What have you been up to in my absence? I trust all is well? Also i have a 40 second long song that i might just record to at least get a song on the board lol
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
the suspense is killing me yikes
  • raelas 3 months ago
I kind of did! The old black belt training was ridiculously time consuming and hard xD You got an msn or skype or something? Seems easier than using these crazy chat window thingy's

PS. Saw you in the paper just now on your facebook, you two had the most paedo-grins i've ever seen. You should both be locked up for my safety tongue
  • raelas 3 months ago
Alreet David my china! I completely forgot about FAWM this year, listened to your stuff though. Loved spring breeze, very you. Loved double X as well. Good stuff my man good stuff! I might maybe try and put one track up just because I still have time lol
  • arthurrossi 3 months ago
Thank you so much for your generous and kind comment!!!
  •  roelvanveldt 3 months ago
Codex, I've made a few recordings of the spoken parts and will send them tonight if you'd just send me an e-mail at roel@stormwind.be. I leave it to your judgement whether they are suitable. I wouldn't bother if you wouldn't use any of them. Concerning the piano parts, I have no inspiration yet that can improve the great ideas of your demo. smile

Oh, Codex, thank you very much for your constructive feedback on "one in a million"! I think the reverb effect comes from putting the lead vocal split hard left and hard right. I don't really remember. tongue It really sounds weird in the mix, doesn't it? I use a Zoom H2 for live recordings. Most of the time it's positioned +/- 30 or 40 cm from my mouth and 20 cm higher too (because it stands on the piano. smile

  •  roelvanveldt 3 months ago
    Hi Codex,

I wonder what made you listen to "one in a million" a second time. smile
I'm open to your feedback, so if you think I could learn, please don't spare me.
    Thanks in advance!

Anyone interested in reading a few lines as a newsreader for "someone still cares" with Ellen? Or if you have a good posh voice doing one of the couple?
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
who knew, I do have a built in mic on my computer....
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
hi codex! I don't have a mic (for good reason...not much of a performer here!). Your plan sounds great, though, and I might be willing to go out on that limb. I'm assuming I would do the clueless-person part smile Let me try it behind the scenes and I'll let you know...asap.
  • mikeskliar 3 months ago
    welcome back!
  •  ellenpliss 3 months ago
you are a brave man, codex! the only one brave enough to take on that song -- it is ALL yours; let me know if there is anything I can do to help! I'll put you as a collab, but if things can't/won't materialize, just let me know. Thank you!
  • onetomany 3 months ago
Thanks for the comments - They were Zongs so long because up until yesterday they were only lyrics, and peeps don't tend to comment on those
  •  natchdan 3 months ago
Did you notice @jamestbarlow89 has joined us?
  • arthurrossi 3 months ago
Thank you very much, codex! I really like the result! I also like the harmonica in the chorus, nice performance! You did more than justice to these lyrics, thank you very, very much! Now I am going to listen to it again...
  • arthurrossi 3 months ago
Hi, these are great news! I am looking very forward to hear the song! By the way, I have already added you as collaborator, so if you like you can also upload it directly... as you like... Thanks once again, I am so glad to listen to it soon...
  •  solarrainuk 3 months ago
Thanks so much for the comment! You're off to a strong start, good luck with the rest smile
  • arthurrossi 3 months ago
    Hi Codex!
thanks a lot for your awesome comment! What a nice surprise! I would be looking very, very forward if you gave it a go!
  •  roelvanveldt 3 months ago
    Hi Codex,

Great to see you hear again! I didn't find the word tunidge in google translate, but if it's got to do with tunes, that's what you still can expect from me this year. My dream is to have my songs better arranged, and I'm sure you could help me with that! So thanks in advance for passing by now and then and telling me how I can improve my sound/arrangement (with a little help from my friends). If you could make my songs sound some more like Billy Joel of Peter Gabriel, I wouldn't say no. big_smile

    Have a nice FAWM!

Gangstashop 2: Electric Boogaloo, hmm? We might be able to work something out.
  •  charliecheney 4 months ago
GANGSTASHOP is truly one of my favorite genres ever invented. Thank you for inventing it.
