Thanks for your feedback on 'My very old house' Much appreciated

  • @kenjku  Mar 3

Congrats on making it to the finish you always do! I enjoyed what I heard so far. I have to catch up on some of your tail end of stuff. Had a fun collab with you and it’s always pleasure hearing what you come up with. Good job Mikey San! 🍻

  • @kenjku  Mar 3

Glad you enjoyed “to the west”. Definitely need some work to figure what works for the overall song, but I was just trying not to think too much and just let it ride out. But yes, you are on point with those suggestions! I was battling which key to sing it in and the western sky I knew was rush but I figured I’d deal with that later haha

  • @mrcorbs79 Mar 2

Thanks so much for all of the support in my initial year! And especially for the very kind words about "Ascend." Sometimes the emotional wave will take you where you need to go without knowing you needed to be there. I've been fortunate enough to have several catharses on this trip. Congrats on hitting the goal!! Love, light, and peace, new friend.

  • @oblivionratula  Mar 2

Thanks for the comment on "Breakfast in Bed." I definitely hear what you're saying on the tempo. You can hear my guitar playing trying to push the pace, in fact. On top of that, there's the guitar not matching up with the scratch drums. It was a final hour FAWM demo, so I'll cop to that. 😁 I'm glad you appreciate the implications of they lyrics. It started off 'innocent,' so I didn't want to get too cheeky, but there's always that idea in the back of mind . . . Thus, the tag at the end. Like the singer 'kidding/not kidding' about picking up again.

Again, many thanks. It was great making your acquaintance over FAWM.

  • @oblivionratula  Mar 2

    Psst, @cloudboy "Harry Balsagna!!!!!"

Thanks for the comment, man. It was a total riot when it popped into my head nearly fully formed.

  • @tiedyehero Mar 1

whoo! Way to go on 14! and I will. Let me know too if you find yourself in Colorado!

  • @wacha  Mar 1

Thank you for your kind words and feedback on "Quilted Heart". I like the idea of keeping it simple with just the guitar and vocals.

  • @wacha  Mar 1

Thanks, congratulations on your FAWM win as well!

Hopefully our paths will cross, I've started playing at Espresso Joe's a little more frequently than I had been.

  • @lhcisco  Mar 1

Oh dude, I was going back and forth on this one since 5. I just said eff it and did the acoustic thing. Whew. Hey Maybe I'll put up the chiptune demo too if I can make it.

  • @oblivionratula  Mar 1

I forgot to mention the pick scrapes in the liner notes I did. That was really fantastic. As soon as I heard it, I thought, "That's staying!" The little harmonic rings at the start, too. Great simple intro.

  • @zecoop  Feb 25

Haha... I wish I knew.... I asked Jay and he said that he just goes with whatever lyrics come. No meaning at all. 😀

  • @tseaver  Feb 25

Thanks for the comment on "Brambles and Briars." I actually had the organ mixed higher early on, but backed it down because it felt overbearing.

  • @dreamscuba  Feb 24

Thanks for your comments on "Latin Vibe". Appreciated.

  • @rustyp  Feb 23

Hey ichael, thanks for your encouragement on my song "BAck at me." 😀

  • @mungus  Feb 22

Hey! Thanks for listening dude! I'm still getting used to singing and recording vocals, after the music they're a bit of an afterthought and I think I need to have them in mind while I write. Glad you enjoyed Evergreen 😀

  • @elesimo  Feb 21

I know what you mean by analog brain... I usually produce on my DAW programming notes and doing multiple takes. Recording on tape along a drum track was a nice challenge — hopefully it turned out not too bad!

  • @elesimo  Feb 21

Michael, I mailed you Tape 13 today, the tracking number is EM035968333US and it should arrive tomorrow! 😀

  • @wacha  Feb 20

Wow, " Woody Guthrie meets Ani DiFranco " is an awesome compliment. Thank you for your very kind words on "Follow Me".

  • @tiedyehero Feb 19

I retook it and got INFP-A

  • @tiedyehero Feb 19

I haven’t done it in a long time either, what’s the dash at the end for? I only ever remember getting just four letters

  • @mrcorbs79 Feb 17

I had many friends that would frequent places like that, so I know what type of compliment that is that this would be a late-night, early-morning jam. The Omnichord really is wonderful on its own, but I put it through my small Orange amp that has 16 built-in effects...just spun the dial and had a good time. I didn't play the Omni to a click, so I'm sure it slips sometimes.

I'm looking very forward to this audio drama you keep posting samples of, that's a fantastic concept. And I think "Chiquitico" is fine how it is, not sure any other instrumentation is needed, has a great feel to it, and it's a lovely dedication. I got kind of blown away by the ending of "Out Of Mind" the gritty guitar sound on that and "Aparecer". Thoroughly enjoying your output as a whole!

  • @aflinner  Feb 14

Thanks for your comments on my songs this year! Sorry I've fallen behind on my own commenting up to this point, trying to catch up now. 😀

  • @wacha  Feb 14

Thank you for your kind words on "Lady Jane". I may revisit this song in future to give one or more specifics in each verse.

  • @kenjku  Feb 14

Thanks for some good feed back homie. Yeah, my plan was to put harmonies on a few different parts but I ran out of time and didn’t want to spend anymore time on the song. Trying to move along haha. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • @kenjku  Feb 13

Thanks for the kind words Mikey San! I’m glad you enjoyed the song. Yeah, I definitely got a little dirtier with the guitar in this one. I actually had a cleaner overdrive for the beginning but kept it heavy because it seemed to be the best for the song overall 😀

  • @thetau  Feb 12

  • @lhcisco  Feb 12

    Hello Michael.*

    *Said in K.I.T.T. voice.

  • @stephenwordsmith  Feb 12

    Hit it!

    (And muchas gracias!)

  • @mrcorbs79 Feb 10

Thanks so much for listening and for the kind words about "For My Best Friends"! I was going for many of those elements, glad it translated.

  • @deena  Feb 9

Thanks so much for recommending my song! You're a sweetie. I'm falling behind... so I gotta get some work done.... then will come back around a-listening.

  • @wacha  Feb 9

Thank you for your kind words on "Adrift".

Yes, that picture was taken in Keyport, I play there on a semi-regular basis.

  • @unclephilly Feb 9

Hey, I really appreciate the kind words on Solstice. I often get told my songs have a 90's vibe, I think I lean in to a lot of those alt-rock, grungey chord progressions. The Ben Folds comparison is new though! I used to listen to him a lot so I'm quite happy with that!

  • @aprilm  Feb 9

Your comments on Next Time really hit me in the feels. Thank you for your kind words.

  • @tiedyehero Feb 8

    Of course!

  • @tiedyehero Feb 8

thanks for the comments, friend. I think the phrase comes from The Tower, a card in the major arcana, and after as in hereafter. The way death is often a metaphor for change, the many “little deaths” of life that cast long “tower-like” shadows dividing such a life up into “remember whens” and “that summer we were” and “the golden days of”

anyway it’s striking to me how many of those changes seem to be unguided, unasked for, the result of random chance, coincidence, and chaos. thus the connection to The Tower card. Which as far as I know has something to do with chaos; look it wasn’t that well researched but it seems to work.

Anyway I know you didn’t ask for an explanation but sometimes I get carried away

  • @mikegtz  Feb 6

Hi Mike thanks for the visit and best wishes this year. I will be checking in on you.

  • @julesbf Feb 5

Thanks for your comment on drowning and a great idea for further development

  • @leavesong  Feb 3

Yeah, why not. I better get to it. Good luck, man!

How have I never run into you around here before? Every year, it amazes me how many great music makers there are to meet. Never done a collab, but if I decide to give it a whirl, I'll look you up. ☺️ Hope you have an inspiring FAWM!
