This year my approach to FAWM is going to be different. Short audio dramas. Music will be threaded in as to keep with the music cornerstone of FAWM. I've convinced some amazing writers to do the story writing. My wife, Dania Ramos (https://daniaramos.com/) and my longtime friend, Ernio Hernandez (https://ernio.com). All we know is that the stories will revolve around underserved voices in society. They should go no longer than 3-4 minutes in length.
I know it's a bit out of the norm for FAWM but I'm hoping to have some listeners.
Critiques are always welcome.
UPDATE 3/4/16: So we created two series: Hot Drinks and The Last Call. I recommend (if you're up for it) starting with Episode One of each or it will confuse you and give away the endings. If you do embark on the endeavor, I thank you. And will repay. Congrats on a great FAWM!

Hey, thanks for the listens. As you can tell, I was quite enjoying the audio drama. Very unique this fawm, as you mentioned. great group effort, must have been fun to record.
As it happens, I was fooling around with the song you checked out at the time, if you have a spare moment, I posted the update. Seems little bit better. Drums might get wonky toward the end, but they're up a little bit.
If not, that's cool. I have a couple more episodes waiting for me, so I'll be back!
I'm glad you figured out the jelly reference in my song. I didn't mention it in my liner notes and I'm not sure anyone else got it. 😉 If anything, I'm the one that sounds like a broken record... with all the muffled vocals. lol Yesterday I was starting to learn about EQ, and one of the exercises was to spot the differences between samples. I have a whole lotta learning to do! That's my goal, definitely before I return next year - to get this whole EQ, compression, vocal production thing down better. And maybe I'll try turning the gain up a bit too. 😀
Hola Aquino! Thanks for commenting on my songs. As for my Músico song, I got assistance from a Spanish composition book and Google translate. I figured, if some of the grammar / pronunciation was awkward, at least the translation is provided. As for the vocal recording, I'm starting to learn a bit more about it so hopefully my future work will sound more pro. 😀
One day I'll have to listen to your work, starting from the beginning. I have a habit of picking out the latest works from people and then going backwards. I don't know why... maybe because they tend to have less comments and I feel like I'm evening them out for the total count or something. Well at least now I know "jam out" is a real phrase. Although I'd still feel weird saying it. Well, jam out! ha 😉
Hmm ... open mic? Haven't done that in years. Nervous just thinking about it!
Hey thanks so much for checking out Mr. Calvarew and leaving your thoughts. I love what you've done here for this FAWM. Some lovely story telling!
"Hot Drinks" and "The Last Call" are excellent! Really original. This project must have been such an undertaking. Many props to the cast. All your voices are so juicy with life. The acting, writing, sounds, everything kept me hanging on for more. Bravo to all.
No wonder I'm so confused - I crossed over into the wrong series! Agh - anyway - you've done great work with your series and episodes. It was fun listening, even though I got totally confused and mixed up (but that's my fault, and it probably didn't help that I started at the end and went backwards.) Great stuff! 😀
Great, I'm like, "There's some Zongs. I should bust them." Then I'm like, "Oh, _now_ I've got to start at the first episode, huh?"
😉 I'm actually very interested in how your project went, as I have a similar interest in the line between story and song. So I best get to it! It looks like "The Last Call" is the one to start with, as it has two zongs.
Congratulations on hitting Century Club! 😀
No worries... Wasn't insulted at all. I use plenty of fake or synth sounds too!
And look... I found another of my lost watchlist people!! A bunch got dropped last year with the site upgrade. I'll be back. 😀
Thanks for getting Zombie'd... I want a baritone guitar too! Badly. Mosley sounds so awesome. BUT... it wasn't a synth organ. It was the real deal - my 1970's GEM Sprinter 49 combo organ. $30 on craigslist last year. Thanks for listening!! 😀
Appreciate all the feedback Mike! Yeah TOT definitely could be a sweet track with all the right parts (mainly recorded vocals and guitar separately) I really dig how it turned out for the most part. Glad you enjoyed PTS I'll be working on that one for the future songs. I actually had this pretty fast finger picking thing going with it but considering it was close to midnight I kept it a little more simpler. 😜
One more to go!!!!
thanks for your feedback on "The Abyss"
Thank you 😀
Thank you, cool to see you here again! Loved the bird song!
Hi there! Thanks for reaching out! What an interesting approach you're taking this year, sounds very cool! Can't wait to listen!
Week 2 challenge: use the word 'medieval' in every comment 😁
Yes, yes, yes!
Hi, it's certainly okay with me use Only Human in your audio drama
Aaah! Three songs! Nice to see you're back. I'll be back to listen later!
Good to see you back! Interesting approach you're taking this year. I look forward to listening.
Thanks for the comment! I thought of adding some strings but they didn't fit what I was going for so I deleted them.
Thanks for letting me know about that comment thing. That makes a difference!
Hey!! I just commented to you on my own song as a test to see if you get it. Lemme know 😀
yeah! i think it was something different, i've begun to realize that after so many years of amateur singing my range has improved a bit somehow...
ah you know fawm day one, always hittin that refresh
Mike, you are always about great stuff. Be visiting soon.
Can't wait to hear what you come up with!!
The excitement is building so much!
It's time to get down to some serious musical exercise!!!
