Bio

Hello. Clever Hansel here. I'm named after a famous performing horse; they thought he was a genius, but he only got the question right if the questioner already knew the right answer.
I like to pretend that this means more than it does, but frankly when your name is Hans there are limited people you can claim as a namesake.
Based in Wellington, New Zealand. My primary modes are ukulelist, vocalist, burlesque performer and impresario, colossal ham, concert kazooist and champion gurner. I also throat-sing, for which I am frequently forced to apologise.

Hans, I heart you! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your lovely comments on "No Better Words" (insert shameless plus to other readers: *24399). And, as I type, your song "St. James Infirmary Blues" is playing in the background. You are a beautiful talent, sir. Can't wait to hear more! Post something!!!!

Love your influences! I refuse to die until I see Tom Waits, and I'm always hoping for him or David Bowie to play in my neck of the woods. The few chances I've had, I've missed. Regrets, I've had a few. I watchlisted you. Good luck, and welcome to FAWM!

Thanks for the praise for my first ditty of the year, Hansel! Yes, it was a mandolin I was playing (the only of my instruments which feels like stepping up to the task at the moment). It would have been nice for the band to come crashing in, but that would require a band. And, allow me to assure you, you don't want to hear me attempt to play percussion myself...it's very sad, very sad indeed.

I generally find that any advice meant for bobcats is pretty much applicable for ukulelists.

Welcome to FAWM 2012 and FAWM in general. I'm G Slade, resident hip hop/rap/synth pop guy. I'll be doing more listening than writing this month, so I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to contribute this year.

    Good luck in Feb!
