Bio

True confession. I don't FAWM right. I work on FAWM all year. I can't write songs any other way. I try to stay true and do as much of the work in February as possible. But every time I walk past a guitar I pick it up, play a few chords, and think "is it FAWM yet?" This year I've got something like five or six songs already sketched out. And I hope to record a song that I wrote two FAWMs ago but never committed to "tape." I've played it in public a few times with my band and I have a burning need to post it. Forgive my lameness.

Until FAWM three years ago, I'd never shared any of the songs I've written with anyone. Phil Norman talked me into posting a few things and the feedback I've gotten has been very helpful and encouraging. I hope to be able to use my ears and give back more this year. Even if I don't do it right, I'm a huge believer in the power of FAWM.

YEEEEAAAHHHH Great news. And great cover/name design thing - very clever. Now. More songs! Science Museum (EDIT - sorry it's right there under other releases) is definitely worth putting up as well as my other car (unless McCartney comes after you for royalties - he actually owns ALL the single digit numbers now you know...)

Thanks for the comment Chris - my first detectable Tom Waits influence!!! He has been a massive influence on me in the past few years in the whole area of having the courage to be who you really are, even if you have to fake it. And Bad IS Bad is a great song. HL&TN were uncool and knew it which makes them very cool. Almost punk.

And you have more songs on MySpace! Can I get them anywhere? (will my cheek never end!) My mac crashes if I even type MySp......

Thanks for sharing further setup info - I was surprised you aren't using a mic pre - I guess that prooves it's not as much the equipment as how you use it

Would you mind sharing your recording setup? i.e. equipment used and setup. Interested mostly on your vocal chain - you get some really clean vocals, but guitar setup would be interesting too.

I sure hope you're back this year, Chris. Your songs don't make me cringe! I've had I Hate To Be That Guy (and to a lesser extent My Other Car) on repeat almost all year, just sublime pop songs. I can only hope we hear more this year!
