Influences: First one I remember...Sly and the Family Stone Since then, in no particular order...David Byrne, Prokofiev, Adrian Belew, Devo, Todd Rundgren, Keith Jarrett, Carlos Santana, Bjork, Jaco Pastorius, The Clash, David Holsinger, Thelonious Monk, Ravel, George Clinton, Jean-Luc Ponty, Miles Davis, Bill Chase, Portishead, Chick Corea Those are probably the most significant and the most obvious in my music.
Michael Michalski, a.k.a. Chasing Andromeda here. I write...um....well, I am never quite sure what is going to come out of my head. If I hear it, I write it. It usually has synths in it and it often has quite a few layers to it. But it might not have either.
Enjoy and have a great February!

It has been three years since I last "won" and that streak is going to come to an end this year.
My album is called "Utterances". I don't know exactly what it is going to sound like other than it is going to be centered around twisted, mangled, bent and otherwise manipulated vocal samples.
There will probably be synthesizers involved. You know, probably.
I am going to work in a bit different manner this time around. It's probably closer to the point of FAWM. I am going to try to post 15 ideas as quickly as possible and then flesh them out over the course of the month. Hopefully it will be fun for you to listen to them as they go through metamorphosis. Part of the reason for this is I changed my workflow this year and writing and mixing are now two entirely separate processes. I think I get better results this way, but the production quality of my initial writing sessions will be lower than in the past.
Have a great month and thanks for visiting!
Update: My project at work changed mid-month and I found myself with not near as much time on my hands after. While I did not make it to 14, I feel so blessed that I have some quality material on which to build and I got to collaborate with people who I have worked in the past and wanted to do so again. What a fantastic month!
Keep following after the 29th as I will be doing proper mixes in March and posting.
May I say, how amazingly you two work together, I think HSEFTB is a masterpiece and I openly admit that I'm in love with it.
In fact when I listen to it, I feel like I'm listening to a fantastic radio channel and I have to consciously remind myself that I was actually part of it. That's how good this is! I am sincerely appreciative of what you have done with it. And by the way I really dig your collaborative style.
Thank you both so very much
So happy you like the theme song! @kristian totally nailed it. And because you're a musical nerd like us, you may enjoy this bit of trivia: Each of the redheads got a song written in one of 9 keys - F(m) Gb(m) G(m) Ab A(m) Bb(m) B(m) C Db(m) - so I asked Kristian to use that chromatic run in the theme song. That way the 9 are all represented.
And if you count up all those minor keys, you can see why I tried so very hard to keep Entanglement in a major one!
Awesome! Looking forward to it.
I am so stoked, thanks for the update!
Hi Michael! I'm back! Just!
Awesome! I'm excited to hear it. Happy writing and recording.
Haha, pass me that spade......
Dark, ethereal and brooding is always good. Maybe with an unexpectedly warm and upbeat bridge? A little slide guitar or the like would be a nice touch as well. Looking forward to anything you come up with; can't wait to hear some synth magic.
Thanks for your comment. Glad to be back. I'd be up for another collab if you're interested.
Send away, hombre!
Man, let me tell you - I would love to work with you guys. I really want to, but things are just a bit overwhelming at the moment. I'm hoping to clear some time in the next day or two. What do you have in mind? And let me also mention that I have a serious head cold so my voice sounds like garbage at the moment.
"Cinematica," I like that! Thanks for your comments. I didn't completely follow what you were saying about "wash each take in a different kind of saturation," but if you want to play around with some of the sounds let me know and I'll send you some stuff.
Loving your music, as always.... Just magical soundscapes. Can't wait to listen to more.
Thanks for listening... The PSS-170 was a $10 Craigslist find. (so was my Casio CT-360) I love when that happens. I have some catching up to do up there!
Ha ha! I can play piano...if it's to a click and I can cut and paste the midi over and over again.
I'm a very fake piano player.
Thank you so much Michael for your beautiful comment on my skirmish piece
Thanks Michael, glad you're liking the tunes so far. Hope I can keep up one a day for a while! I usually find the beginning quite easy, but it gets more difficult over time.
I don't know what any of that means, but thank you!
Hey Michael! You are right, we really should get round to collaborating some time, I'd like that. This month is looking pretty crowded so I'm nervous to promise collabs in case I don't complete them. Maybe 50/90 or even - *gasps* - off-season?
Hi Michael. Thanks for the comment on my song!
Greetings Michael. Cheers.
Thank you Michael. Have a great February!
Aw yiss you're back for another year... Have a fine time sir!
Welcome back my annual friend- here's to another year of surprises and adventure!
I agree with you there! Collaaaaabs!
You make it sound as if I actually worked! Hehehe I can collaboration with you with some simple overtone singing, if you are interested
Aaaand then I listened to the 21st Century Sun Dance. I'm somehow not surprised that you have a music degree. Yikes. <3
Heya! Just sampled "Tongue Tied," sounds awesome. I actually really enjoy this style of music, with or without lyrics. It's almost like trance, but not quite. Nice. Have a good FAWM!
Oh, hell yeah. Good to see you here.
Thanks Michael! Going to do my best anyway
Let's do this thing!
Looking forward to hearing your explorations this year.
See You In The Shadows…
Welcome back, Michael!
Well now, Mr. Mike. It's good to see you're gonna be on the playing field. Excellent! Should you need my vocals, you know where to find me.
Hi! Welcome back yourself. Have a good FAWM.
Cheers. Good luck getting to 14 this year.
Good to see you back for another year. Break the streak!
