Chasing Andromeda 6

Mansfield USA   Jan 2010

Artist Bio

Influences:   First one I remember...Sly and the Family Stone Since then, in no particular order...David Byrne, Prokofiev, Adrian Belew, Devo, Todd Rundgren, Keith Jarrett, Carlos Santana, Bjork, Jaco Pastorius, The Clash, David Holsinger, Thelonious Monk, Ravel, George Clinton, Jean-Luc Ponty, Miles Davis, Bill Chase, Portishead, Chick Corea Those are probably the most significant and the most obvious in my music.

Michael Michalski, a.k.a. Chasing Andromeda here. I, I am never quite sure what is going to come out of my head. If I hear it, I write it. It usually has synths in it and it often has quite a few layers to it. But it might not have either.

Enjoy and have a great February!

2018 Goals
Some synthesizers will be heard...or not.

I am looking for some collaboration opportunities. Along with the usual array of soft synths and effects, I have added a bunch of hardware over the last couple of years and it all wants to be used.

Takemine Electro-Acoustic Guitar
Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Strat
Ibanez Hollowbody
Hofner Ignition Club Bass
Nord Lead A1r
Behringer Deepmind12
Novation Bass Station II
Waldorf Blofeld
Roland SE-02
Banjo Ukulele
Lots of sample libraries (orchestral and unusual)
Lots of hand percussion

All just waiting to be used. Hit me up!

Have a great month and thanks for visiting!

UPDATE - Work is getting in the way as it usually does....but, I am good with all the collaborations to which I have committed.

What is going to change is how I address my solo stuff. I am going to limit myself to three hours to produce something. What I have at the end of three hours gets posted. This should be fun.

No worries. I have had my hands full with work and have not had the time I would really like to spend this FAWM. If need be, post a placeholder and put it up later. Cheers!

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 27

Hi Michael, yes, even if you are sending it in March we can post it then 😀

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 26

Thanks Michael, no worries about catching up, I'm trying to catch up with others too!

  • @bking  Feb 10

Michael, if you have a mix, rough is ok, render it (any format will do), zip it, and either email it as an attachment or post it on your web server and email the link. The email link on my profile page is still valid. When I am done, I'll render my tracks as WAV files, post them on my web server and I'll send back links.

  • @engebretsen  Feb 8

thx for comments on Three of Wands. Very kind of you.

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 7

Hi Michael, thank you, just sent my file via your email, google drive.

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 7

Hi Michael, yes please, it will be wonderful to collaborate with you.
Please let me know if you would like me to send you MP3 or wav.
    Thank you.

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 7

Thank you Michael for listening, commenting and sharing your thoughts on my instrumental piece. I stupidly didn't save the original fl studio file yesterday so any adding will be hard at my end... I too would love to hear more instruments there.

  • @candle Feb 6

Thanks for the comment on The Field, Michæl! I'll be by soon to listen to your track. I'm trying to catch up on my replies.

Thanks for the comment! Nope, nothing to do with the Ben Folds song - just some random nonsense. 😀 It was a last minute lyric change when I realised that I was about to sing a very uncomplimentary song about a fellow FAWMer...

  • @djrhodyn Feb 3

Thanks for the comment on Starlight Shower! Percussion is one of my weaknesses so i kind of tested myself. Once fawm is done ill probably improve it.

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 3

Well I'd say if you ever think about getting an Elektron box, the Digitakt is a great entry. I've also owned the Analog Four and RYTM but recently sold them as I found I didn't use them much. The Digitakt is so much easier and quicker to get to grips with, much more immediate and fun to use!

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 3

Thanks Michael, glad you liked my first modular piece for FAWM. It's quite difficult to create enough structure and variation to keep it interesting, the Digitakt certainly helped with that!

  • @audiarec Feb 2

I'm going to give it a go!

  • @theawkwardsleep Feb 1

We are back, but we'll likely have a late start. excited to see what you are doing too.

  • @mikegtz  Feb 1

    Hey, Michael, welcome back.

  • @complexissimple Feb 1

I'm so sorry. I had multiple tabs open and must have clicked on the wrong one.

  • @solarrainuk  Jan 31

@chasingandromeda Hey Michael. Yep, I'm back again! Maybe trying some eurorack noodling this time around. Good luck with FAWM, interested to see what you do with the new gear there!

  • @mikedebenham  Jan 31

Great to see you back, Michael! Looking forward to some banjolele synth magic.

  • @petra777  Jan 30

*waves* Hope a handful of us FAWMers can catch up when you are on this end! Keep me posted if anything materializes....

  • @complexissimple Jan 30

Since you asked, I have a variety of songs posted at 50/90 and SoundCloud, but I'll link you to a few you might find particularly interesting.

Watercolor on Stone gets pretty close to the bottom of my range, and there's a note near the end of What Are You Afraid Of that's pretty close to the top. In both cases I can comfortably sing a step further, and maybe go a little further than that if I push myself but it won't sound as good, especially on the low end.

  • @robynmackenzie  Jan 28

    Holy crap, EIGHT?!?
Yes, let's get that fixed! I'll be a little busy at the beginning of the month since my first term of grad school ends on the 11th. But after that I plan to be here as much as possible!

  • @thetau  Jan 28

Hey! Droppin' by to say hi... Good to see you here again
    Russ 😀

  • @oddbod  Jan 25

Hey thanks for all the Studio One stuff. I’m sure I’ll be taking the plunge quite soon but probably leave it until after February. Next Fawm I will hopefully be a Studio One user. Have a good one.

  • @looprication  Jan 25

Hey hey! I'm sure gonna try, brother. I need this more than ever. Good to hear from ya.

  • @bking  Jan 24

Something electronic that I can add a bit of Strat noise to. I’m open to suggestions.
