Bio

I'm Tania, also Capricious_Angel. i did nanowrimo in '08, '09, '10 and '11 now too, and they had a list of others, so i joined up to fawm as well.
i play the guitar (a bit) the trombone (grade 7) and the piano (grade 4). i sing, too, and i've started having a go at viola.
I'm 17, and i'm doing both music and english A levels at the moment, and so i figure, join the two together!
i have written words to all my songs, and music too, honest! it's just the time thing - i scribble out songs on the bus etc, but i can't type them then!

Thank you for your lovely comment on "Don't Look Back". smile

As to writing a novel - I'm a better sprinter than a marathon runner. wink Hence, no novel from me. But I am planning a musical piece based on the story in my mind. I already have a second lyric up in the "Don't Look Back" suite ("Baby, Dear Baby").
    *27839
A rough demo with a proper vocal guide might be up in the next few days. (The same composer as for "Don't Look Back".) Then I need to write lyrics for the rest of the story. Probably during 50/90. wink
  • samhealer 2 months ago
Oh don't worry, any similarity to those books is entirely coincidental and unfortunate wink
  • heidiwiencko 2 months ago
Thank you for your great comment on Janitor's Tango! Can't wait to listen to all your songs, too. Great job DOUBLE winning!
  •  thetau 2 months ago
WOW! That takes you over the top even for a double FAWM. You have done a fantastic job
  •  errol 2 months ago
Oooh, btw, I'm a huge Terry Pratchett fan. I have almost all his books, his graphic novels... and movie adaptations.. big_smile
  •  thetau 2 months ago
RE: your posted comment on "My Alien's a Boyfriend." A little double entry here.

I do like being the point man on occasion. A little adrinilan rush in taking a risk. Besides some things just don't fit the standard, so a little innovation becomes needed.
  •  errol 2 months ago
Of course you would ask me on the last day smile smile
  •  skullcrush 2 months ago
Thanks for the comment on the Pokémon song (*31490) of mine and @errol's. I added in a translation of the lyrics in case you're interested big_smile
  •  thetau 2 months ago
It's a full time job just keeping up with you wink
  •  errol 2 months ago
    OH!

BTW, anything Lego is cool... big_smile
  •  errol 2 months ago
    WHOA! YOu UNDERSTOOD A SONG?!?!

    HUZZZAHHHH!!! big_smile

And I was sitting on that song for a month... so you have to forgive the... quickness I did that... (one hour)

    *LAUGH*
  •  errol 2 months ago
Maybe... I should provide links for you, if a lot of references are unknown. big_smile
  •  monty 2 months ago
See http://fawm.org/songs/25513/ . Thanks for all your help and support.
  •  errol 2 months ago
For the Japanese song, I wrote the music. For the German one, all I did was add piano and strings! smile
  •  errol 2 months ago
"your abiility to sound like you spear languages"

Yes, I think I do spear them. Maim them. All sorts of things. big_smile

And for those songs, I don't write the words! *laugh* Of course, the more nonsensical, the better... big_smile
  •  monty 2 months ago
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Sorry I haven't been able to find someone to sing your lyric to To Night (aka D2de). It probably would be easier if you could make a scratch recording of how you envisioned it being sung.
  •  errol 2 months ago
You send me a pic of yourself (wow... that sounds creepy) and I will put you in a future comic. big_smile

  • theawkwardsleep 2 months ago
thanks so much for the sweet words! smile
  •  errol 2 months ago
    *laugh* Yes! I do nanotoons!

Man, this proves no one reads the credits at the bottom of those things smile I'm glad you like them too! I can't wait to get them going again for next year!
  • kiwafruit 2 months ago
Thanks for the comment on "A Scene" - I think I got your meaning smile Maybe it's a bit of a lullaby? A spontaneous bubble-surrounding lullaby... hahahah Glad you liked it smile
  •  errol 2 months ago
You... are awesome. Thank you so much!! big_smile

And if you can see from our comics... we are terribly crazy busy and I see you commenting on ALL my songs... and I feel more and more guilty for not commenting. BUT DON'T WORRY! I'm giving myself March to do that! YES I AM!

    I AM! big_smile

I'm glad you like our comic. big_smile
  •  brownium 2 months ago
I appreciate your thoughtful reflections on rhymes in Rumors - http://fawm.org/songs/26352/. I've been racking my brains to find a song that doesn't rhyme but is still a very enjoyable and accessible songs. There are some that use existing texts (The Lord's Prayer, for example) that work, but probably only work because of the context. Then there's "art music"... In any case, I certainly appreciate your position on rhyming. I have no philosophical position on the matter, but in practical terms, I have to agree that rhyming is nearly a necessity.
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
Sigh. I wish I'd reached the published level at the same stage of life... wink
  •  ange 2 months ago
Thank you for my lovely comment smile It's quite a random song as it's kinda specific to 'Emma' so i'm overjoyed to get any response on it at all, and am really glad you saw potential for it to be versatile smile thanks
  • izaakalexander 2 months ago
I've updated In the Year of the Dragon *29197 --- thanks for your comments. I'll try to take a closer look at your FAWM when the dust settles around here. smile
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
Perhaps it's just as well I didn't write what I was going to which was "you should have a good chance of publication of it as verse in a literary magazine!!" ooops... wink
  •  erinkelsey3 2 months ago
Thanks so much for your kind and helpful comments! Congratulations on winning smile
  •  livinginthemusic 2 months ago
Thanks so much smile Yeah--I just fixed it! Come and listen if you like smile
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
nonono! I SAID "don't change it" for all those reasons (and more! Not least of which it's pretty good as it stands!) At least I think I did. [checks] No I didn't. I said "...don't attack what you've done. It's a good piece of verse as it stands." wink

[ADDS] there are other ways too. AAAA musically, boooring. AABA, fine. But would also work as AAAB, a different last verse to underlain the preceding three. (That's music, not lyric change!!!)
  • samhealer 2 months ago
I'd love to do a lyric collab, but we should probably figure out just how it would actually work smile
  •  gordon 2 months ago
Ok, I decided just to go with it and have posted a version to your e-mail account.
  •  gordon 2 months ago
Hi there, yes, I'd love to try to sing on Ghost Dance. That's the catchy spooky number isn't it? Do you have any ideas for melody or can I just go with the lyrics and see what happens?
  • samhealer 2 months ago
That's all of 'em! Sorry if they got a little repetitive, there's only so much you can say, really.

On Casual Casualty, you're right, I can't really think how you'd replace that rhyme. I'm sure with time you could replace it with something better, but it probably wouldn't be worth it smile
  •  errol 2 months ago
Hee hee, I put it on my profile. big_smile That quote. big_smile
  •  errol 2 months ago
"as ever with your music, I don't know what to say"

    *laugh* that's an awesome quote!!
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
I appreciate the applause for relaxation music, but sadly I'm still trying to get out music at the other end of the scale. Just so tired.

FAWM has some days to run yet, why have you stopped writing????
  •  thetau 2 months ago
Don't box things up in the closet too quickly. You forget that I can see the future.
  • accosmi 2 months ago
Thanks for your input! tongue I know exactly what you mean. I'm still really terrible at turning my beat loops into actual, fully fleshed-out compositions, so that's definitely something to work on... big_smile
  •  thetau 2 months ago
Thanks for you comments on "Knocked Up..." It was fun... still is. I see you haven't stopped creating. Are you going for 28 now? Oh! and I've got another one in the works for you. It'll probably go passed March 1st getting it out. (I hope that's not a problem for you). I'm trying to tidy up other things. I've got 5 collabs awaiting completion, plus one I have to finish writing for Donna. Not to mention getting together some vocals, and other productions stuff. I really like "Things That Couldn't Be." The song I mean. It's one of those really emotional images that you do so well.
  •  errol 2 months ago
    oooooh! You won! Huzzzahhh! Congratulations!

And yes... my children ARE awesome, no matter how much I tease them big_smile
  • samhealer 2 months ago
That's basically most of my songs you've commented on now - give a couple of days, I'll be sure to return the favour properly smile
  •  artslut 2 months ago
Thanks for your very kind comments. Its appreciated.
  •  gordon 2 months ago
Thanks again for your comments. I hope you don't mind, but I got inspired by your comments to write a song. smile
  • blindingham 2 months ago
Thanks for the comment. No, I am, I'm afraid, not an Amateur Transplant (although I think I was at school with one of them); apart from anything else, they seem to have cracked the whole business of getting paid for writing whimsical ditties about venereal disease, which has thus far eluded me!
  • kiwafruit 2 months ago
Hiya, just letting you know that I've updated "I'm just a zong" *24196 with the demo I wrote for it in case you're interested in having a listen. Hopefully I've done @duaneclancy's fab lyrics justice!

Also, thank you for all the lovely comments on my other songs! I'm playing around a little with vocal styles this year, hopefully I'll be able to reproduce when I perform the new songs... Eek!
Re: guitar - I did use to play when I was in my early teens-ish, but it got too big and cumbersome so I stopped. Then started playing uke about 2-3 years ago. It's nice to go back to guitar, briefly, if only for the extra notes and variety you can play. But they're so BIG!! Eugh. I don't know how people do it normally...
  •  robs 2 months ago
You've won! Congratulations smile Still 12 days to go!
  •  orinoco 2 months ago
Thanks for all your brilliant comments, and congratulations on winning! I'll be back to check out your songs in my next listening session smile
  • samhealer 2 months ago
Thanks so much for the comments! You're right, I think it's our part of the world that does it wink
  • grenzgaengerin 2 months ago
thank you very much for your comment big_smile
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
I've stuffed up the last word. Singing "tears" not "fears". Will try to fix tomorrow. Congratulations on winning FAWM too!! wink
  •  nicksypniewski 3 months ago
Thanks very much for the comment on Condos. What you found in it is what I was trying to put in, so I'll take it it succeeded to some degree. Much appreciated.
  •  errol 3 months ago
    "Quite the character"

    *LAUGH* Allllooo Capricious Angel!

Don't worry, I will get to commenting on songs, yes, yes I will. big_smile

I did Nanowrimo tooooo! So much fun. big_smile
  •  monty 3 months ago
Wow, that's and impressive lyric you wrote for my tune. I'm gonna try and see if I can get someone to sing it.
  •  duaneclancy 3 months ago
I never saw the Sestina style of writing before, but after seeing the one that @timmyriordan did, I had to give it a shot. It changed everything by causing me to have to write toward the end of each line instead of just writing and letting it flow. I wanted to be able to show the whole story without breaking from the style, and this caused me to have to make out an outline. It was an awesome exercise smile
  •  duaneclancy 3 months ago
I believe it is possibly another glimpse into the genius of the illustrius Errol smile
  •  gordon 3 months ago
Thanks so much for your kind words. Puts a smile on my face on an otherwise gloomy afternoon here. BTW, I really liked your lyrics for Ghost Dance which I think go very well with the spooky, jazzy feel to the track.
  •  timfatchen 3 months ago
Important: no such thing in music as "better", just different. OK, I'll record what I've got and post it. Alternatives are: I post a new one (which gives you an extra FAWM song number!) or the more usual we post in the original page for which you'll have to enter me as collab. THis time, I suggest a new posting because there already exists one lot of music, even just as a theme, and it shouldn't be removed because you may want to work further on it later.
  •  avidfanman 3 months ago
Thanks for your comments on my songs, and for braving the dodgy "Cereal Killer" joke!!
  •  monty 3 months ago
Thanks for your feedback on my tunes. If you want to try a lyric for D2de, that would be great. Thanks.
  •  timfatchen 3 months ago
Thank you for all those comments. It's always a bit of delight that someone has been held to listen right through.
  •  downburst 3 months ago
Thanks for the comment! Happy I could meet someone's needs, at least. smile
  •  subjectzero 3 months ago
Thanks for the comment! Yeah, when Mark gave me the lyrics my first thought was "what the hell am I supposed to do with these lyrics?!" The challenge made it fun!
  • jcameron 3 months ago
Ketchup is an abomination and should be stamped out smile
As far as the lead-out rant in Needlecraft Woman goes, I recorded a load of quasi-ad-lib spoken stuff intending to take a few seconds of it and fade it out while the guitar parts kept going, but Jane listened to the whole thing and nearly died laughing, so I stuck it all in.
  • benjaminnolan 3 months ago
*grins* Try again. I just uploaded the MP3 (You commented just before I managed to actually upload it!) It should play properly now. smile
  • jayafrica 3 months ago
Hi, Tania. Thanks for the comment on "0 (Zero)." I wanted my first song to be a vocal piece and was originally going to do the song in solfege. I'm a big fan of anagrams and other such word games, however, so when I noticed that Sebastian's name had nine letters, the idea of using words derived from his name fell into place. I look forward to listening/reading through your songs!
  •  amyliarose 3 months ago
Thanks for your comments! I'll be putting "Nightmare" to music soon, so please check back and let me know what you think!
  •  thetau 3 months ago
Earlier @capriciousangel said to @thetau "really gorgeous - i could listen to this all day!"
    Thank you
And I did listen to it for about 39 hrs straight, even in my sleep. That's how I got the lyrics figured out. Supersaturation. Did the same thing with "Can't Write No Catch Tune" I no longer have a problem with writing lyrics.
    Looks like you never did.
  •  wyatt 3 months ago
""""""really nice, i like it. and... since you've worked out how to get your song to play directly from the FAWM site... could you tell me how?"""""""""""""""""""
""""""""""LOL Have you heard the phrase, "The blind leading the blind" ? smile
Well, you may have to have FAWM file hosting--if you have that, I can try to walk you through what Jen walked "ME through

Hey Tania ! Wow...thank you for such a nice comment on my song "Angel That's Falling" !! Yes, it does have a tune, and I'll try to rough it out and put it on here real soon. Thanks again...I really appreciated your input on my song, girl...

The trouble is getting me to stop using words like 'exhortations' in songwriting.

If you can find a lyric draft by me in plain english, it's worth an absolute fortune.
