No, be offended and say anything you like. I'm sorry that you took offence at my post; I wasn't telling you to be quiet, that wasn't my purpose at all and I'm sorry that you read it that way.
My point was that in my experience, 99.99% of the people here at FAWM are really great people and would never offend anyone on purpose. I think that it is sometimes quite easy for all of us as humans to see offence where no offense was meant. Of course, I have not had the experiences that you have had and am only speaking from my own perspective. πŸ˜€

  • @devin  Mar 5

    Thanks for the β€œcritique” warning!

You may notice that my test song is a collab with the founding FAWMer who helps run the site.

If folks go offside, it may go badly for them πŸ˜‰

  • @sapient  Mar 5

Ah, I wondered if it was BIAB... I've heard so much great creativity coming from that as a tool this FAWM. Think I might need to go take a look at it... πŸ˜‰

  • @postcardhelicopters  Mar 5

Congrats on your first open mic - sounds like you had a blast!

(truth be told - there was no laundry to be done... I worked on a new song, instead. Tra-la, tra-la!)

  • @benjo  Mar 4

WOW you have done so well
thank you for your kind words on my lyrics
    take care

  • @postcardhelicopters  Mar 3

Not to worry - I was able to fortify with a trip to the store, earlier today --
as my rather florid comment in the 100-song thread might attest to...

    Take care!

  • @postcardhelicopters  Mar 1

(They really need a better smiley face emoji - which is to say THANKS! for the cashews & well wishes. This was a fantastic year of FAWM)

  • @postcardhelicopters  Mar 1

I hope that's a big cup of coffee you just posted!

Congratulations on a Super-Mondo-Blowout Successful FAWM!

  • @sheilerk  Feb 26

Just checked out the Ballard wrap up party, and will just miss it. I'll be driving from Reno to Seattle on the 4th! 😞

  • @sheilerk  Feb 26

I'll definitely hold you to that πŸ˜‰ and look forward to it! πŸ˜€ By the way, I see that you are from Tacoma. Washington? I used to live in Seattle and am in that area regularly.

  • @sheilerk  Feb 26

I'm feeling rather awkward. I just checked my email and a former collaborator has sent me a music track for Earth Mother. I've had two musical versions of my lyrics before, but I'll leave it up to you whether you want to do that. I would post it as a new song if you do. It's always fun to hear different interpretations.

  • @sheilerk  Feb 26

That sounds great! I have a medium soprano voice, so something that doesn't want too many really low notes would work nicely. I'm so glad you're interested in doing this. It's one of my favorite lyrics this year and really needs to be sung πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  • @sheilerk  Feb 26

Hi Tasha πŸ˜€ Thank you for your comments on Earth Mother. I'd love it if you wanted to put some music behind it. I do like to have the instrumental version, as well as the sung version, sent to my email, so I can sing it too. If you don't mind doing that, I'll look forward to hearing what you come up with! πŸ˜€

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 26

WHA…? You are just too cool for school Quadracool Champion!! You took the time to write 400 comments (400!!) and listen to all those songs (ears doin’ ok there?)! Thanks for your almighty contribution to our community. You have 400 thank you’s from your fellow FAWMers and from me! Excellent work and keep busting’ those zongs!!

  • @tunecat  Feb 25

Hye, thanks for the thumbs up on my cornet porsche song without words "Green Note".. You're right, it does have a kind of 70s connection.. that's probably where my ear finds its inspiration from.. and yeah, every now and then I do something like this.. I remember at least one other (with chord changes, the whole shaboodle) that I've done. An album.. why not? Something to think about for next year.

  • @thetau  Feb 25

    Hang'in out is posted...
    Sorry I took so long

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 24

Thanks for the nice comment on my "No Way" skirmish.

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 24

I tagged you hope it worked. It will be top of the forum list again soon

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 24

Thanks for the kind words on my "Holding Together" skirmish song.

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 23

thx glad you enjoyed healing. It was the easiest skirmish i have done. It just seemed to write its self.

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 23

Yay! Glad it fell in the "post" column 😁

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 23

    Hi! How's your Friday going?

I did a little sumthin'-sumthin' with your "needs collab" track, "Unreleased" and it's ready for a "post or pass" decision on your part. If the decision is "pass" no worries - I can use the music with something else.

    Here's the Demo's URL:

  • @thetau  Feb 23

    Thanks Girl
Still way behind in the mixing arena, But only one more and I'll catch up to your track. Still, have Rachele's Track to mix.
Hopefully, by this evening, I have yours as well...
    Russ πŸ˜€

  • @oblivionratula  Feb 22

Thanks for the listen and great comments on "Black Box." With that kind of stuff, "background music" is never taken as an insult. πŸ˜‰ Maybe my doubts are just my version of Impostor Syndrome. Thanks again!

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 22

Whatdayawantamedal? Well you’re getting one! You are SUPERB Tripletime Trooper! You took the time to write 300 comments and listen to all those songs! Thanks for your almighty contribution to our community. You have 300 thank you’s from your fellow FAWMers and from me! Excellent work and keep busting’ those zongs!!

Thank you for your complimentary words regarding Collect Them All! I was inspired by @visiblydistorted's original lyrics, the sentiments of which we agree on.

Thank you so much for your comment on "Better Angels"!

Thanks for commenting on Waking Up, pal - I've now given it a tune and am calling it done.

  • @edwardsmusic Feb 17

Thanks for sending me the vocals. I'll use that on the song page.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 16

Um, done what before? Driving? Not in a very long time. Writing songs? Welllllllll . . . .

    Hugs right back atcha 😁

  • @edwardsmusic Feb 16

  • @edwardsmusic Feb 16

You probably could email the track to me. Alternatively you could upload it to something like Soundcloud and link it to me on my board.

  • @edwardsmusic Feb 16

Hi there, thanks for leaving a comment on my track "You Know I Want You". I'd appreciate it if you could record vocals for it.

  • @andygetch  Feb 15

Happy would be great! I wanted to test drive a Leaf (one day I will) but kept getting thwarted.

  • @andygetch  Feb 15

Yay! For a starter, if you want to write something (anything) about your Nissan Leaf experience that would be super! Let me know if you want in on the music too πŸ˜€ Also let me know if there is a song I can help you with.

  • @andygetch  Feb 15

Hey T, just wondering if you would like to collaborate again πŸ˜€

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 15

Oh my goodness Dupletarion Warrior you are AWESOME!! You took the time to write 200 comments and listen to all those songs! Thanks for your hefty contribution to our community. You have 200 thank you’s from your fellow FAWMers and from me! Excellent work and keep busting’ those zongs!!

  • @oblivionratula  Feb 15

Thanks for the comment on Train Station Soundscape. I drift in and out of moderate railfan-ness myself - railroads built my family - literally as my mom and dad met working for the Soo Line. πŸ˜€

The production on this, I actually kept fairly simple, but it is pretty lush despite that. Thanks again for the listen.

  • @arthurrossi Feb 14

Tasha! Thanks so much for the beautiful song that you made for "My world of rainbow colors". The melody is lovely and sweet and I like your singing so much... Could you send me the MP3 on my email address, which is
    ? Thanks so much! πŸ˜€

  • @erikleppen Feb 14

Thanks for letting know your thoughts on my first song and posting it in the recommended songs thread. I feel very honored, and less insecure of posting more work. Thanks! πŸ˜€

  • @scubed  Feb 14

Thanks so much for your lovely comment on my skirmish song!

  • @ebw Feb 14

Thanks for your comment on my song. πŸ˜€ I'm glad you liked it.

  • @errol Feb 14

Alllooo, Tasha! Thank you for your comment on my soundboard!

And whoa, you have a lot of songs i here! You go!

  • @johnstaples  Feb 14

    You got SKIRMISH!! I'm jealous!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 13

Hey! I am looking very forward to it! I have already added you as collaborator, but, please, feel free to re-post the demo if you like...

  • @russiasaturn Feb 2018

Glad I could send some virtual support! Drop me a note anytime you want to chat, and I mean that, not just saying it. Look forward to catching up on your songs. <3

  • @johnstaples  Feb 2018

Well, you solved the critiquing problem elegantly and quickly. They can create a new forum section in about 5 minutes and those who wanna critique or be critiqued can have at it! Problem solved!

  • @s7even Feb 2018

    Awesome. Thank you!

  • @wacha  Feb 2018

Thank you for your kind words on "Start Again", I'm really happy to see this song connect with so many people.

  • @spunky4455 Feb 2018

Thanks a lot for checking out Centralia. I kinda threw together those words over the top of that groove, but it seems they're kinda sparking a reaction in listeners. Maybe I'll keep them. Hope you have a great Feb!

  • @johncrossman  Feb 2018

I'm coming back around to listen to the skirmish songs, very nice! I also demoed (eventually) if you have a chance to stop by. Thank you!

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 2018

Hi - thanks for the ping! It looks as if the thorn has been removed from our collective paws? Here's to better and brighter FAWM days, ahead. Sign me, "undeterred."

  • @tcelliott  Feb 2018

re: punk - I always think of the Ramones. Anything by the Ramones, really. Or the Clash. If you spotify I'd check out a couple of those. Maybe some off tracks by Green Day although they are really more post-punk. I like punk, but I'm not deep into it. I hope that helps.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

When you say Kevin, is that K Wiley, the guy who does the streaming for Conflikt and the like? Long hair, skinny, seen with Sooj Tucker on occasion? I had a similar experience; I saw Brett Glass (this year's Interfilk guest) do a demo at Conflikt and after it was over I told my wife I was buying it. I think she's sort of bemused in the same way she was when I first bought Tuneslayer (my banjo) but that's worked out pretty well. Hopefully this will too.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

On a different note, while I wait for my new laptop (which seems to be delayed in transit from Indianapolis, grumble grumble) I installed Band In A Box on a Virtualbox virtual machine and have been taking it out for a spin. It only took me about a half hour last night to put together a really really rough backing track for "Dead Man Rockin'" including inputting the chords, finding the "Elvis" style (rockabillyish) and doing my best to bend the repeat system to my will. I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn, just like with any instrument, but it was far enough along that I could sing it for my daughter. Just thought you'd like to know.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

I don't believe anywhere in the FAWM rules it says you have to post only songs that are light and sweet and fluffy unicorn rainbow marshmallows. There are as many reasons for writing songs as there are songwriters -- more really -- and at the moment Angry Briarrose sounds like she's at the wheel. That's fine, really; I appreciate that you let me know when a song is angry or NSFW. I just hope putting it all down on virtual paper helps you get through.

  • @cleanshoes Feb 2018

Thank you! I've felt very welcome so far. I'm glad I took the leap and decided to participate this year!

  • @mardeycranbleson  Feb 2018

Yeah I can't remember the name, I used to play it on the commodore 64 so I'm pretty sure its real

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 2018

lol, thank you πŸ˜€ glad you enjoyed my take on the Winter Olympics. 30 songs already! go go go!

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

Heh. Thanks. I don't know much about bars but I do know that sometimes people have to get together where they can just be who they are. I like your idea too, of Lady Corner being a person

  • @francessmith Feb 2018

    Thank you @brrrse

  • @vegansongs  Feb 2018

Thank you so much- loved that skirmish!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 2018

Oops! I will have to do that. I guess I didn't look very close.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

My, we've been a busy girl!

Thanks for looking in on "Dead Man Rockin'". Let me know if I'm wrong, but I suspect a twelve-bar blues is one of the standard accompaniments that comes with BiaB, and it shouldn't be hard to knock a demo of this out once I get things set up.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

Thank you for your comments on "Thirty-Three Midnights." I think it has the potential to be a really good song and I'm glad some of that is showing through.

You've got some good stuff going too. Some of it is angry but good. "Time To Let You Go" like I said on its page sounds very much like it would be at home on KNKX or a station with a similar format. I need to scrape together some time to just go down the list. Maybe this weekend while I'm waiting for my BiaB laptop to arrive.

  • @writeandwrong  Feb 2018

Ha! I should have looked up what I drew for you first before I commented haha! lol Excellent concept!

  • @rainchaser  Feb 2018

That was Band in a Box doing all of that? Wow! I'm impressed!! Maybe I should give it try as well. I'm starting to hear a lot of good things about it.

  • @mkd  Feb 2018

You absolute star!! Loving the opening line on your latest offering!

  • @billwhite51 Feb 2018

i wasnt arguing with the lyric.. My view is that women all over the world suffer these same issues, and it was unnclear to me whether you wre singling out eiither womeon of the US or women of the third orld.

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 2018

    You're welcome. πŸ˜€

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 2018

Haha! No parking meters in Mars orbit 😁

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 2018

I am *so* jealous. If I were to have a bucket list, witnessing a launch in person - or just being close to those engines going off - would be top of the list. That screaming/tearing sound the engines make in every video recording? That is one of my favorite sounds. My dad was in the Marines and I remember we sat in the living room in the dark and he was taking photos of the tv screen for Apollo 11. I consider myself a "space baby" because I was born the day after John Glenn's flight in Friendship 7. Growing up, I fully expected we would get to Mars before I turned thirty. So, I'm really excited to see Elon Musk pick up the ball and run with it down the last half of that field.

  • @joshlevitre  Feb 2018

No worries! I wish I had slept through my own stream πŸ˜€

  • @arthurrossi Feb 2018

Tasha! Thank you so much for the fantastic song you made for "Another Saturday", it has become a wonderfully delicious jazz song! Great music and atmosphere and I enjoy your vocal delivery so much! I am so happy about it, thank you! And regarding "My world of rainbow colors", of course, my lady, it would be an honor to me...

  • @mkd  Feb 2018

Oh wow, I am grinning from ear to ear right now at your kind words on my songs! Thank you.

  • @mardeycranbleson  Feb 2018

well glad you liked it - added you as a collaborator

  • @thetau  Feb 2018

Wow I take my eyes off you for two days and you finished the whole project. Congrats πŸ˜€
    Russ πŸ˜€

PS: I sent you an email

  • @mardeycranbleson  Feb 2018

dont know how you wanted to do this but here is the cutlery song - it is basically garbage but I need to get to that 14 no matter what it takes . Im mostly singing your lyrics but you wont be likely to recognize anything.

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 2018

Thank you so much Tasha for your beautiful comment on my lyrics. I've enjoyed so much reading your lyrics. Yes it was fun to create although I have to say I didn't use football, just went with the idea of running. Hope it's ok...

  • @standup  Feb 2018

Amuse is pretty painless. If you have ISRC codes already you can enter them, otherwise Amuse will insert them.

Amuse doesn't care if your songs are registered in the copyright sense, so that's something you would take care of separately.

You upload your final masters and pick a release date, which can be a couple weeks away sometimes. Whatever they do to register your songs with Spotify, Google Music, etc. takes days and days, you can't set your release date for "tomorrow".

I'm pretty satisfied with them. They supposedly will send me whatever money I make, but I'm not sure how much money this will produce. Probably not much. I released my EP a month ago and have seen nothing yet, but that doesn't surprise me.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

Now that you mention the banjolele I seem to remember that, and reacting like I'd been shot is totally something I'd do. Thank you for reminding me!

  • @billwhite51 Feb 2018

Thanks for listeneing to and commenting on Flippin Flapjacks. Im glad you liked it, but you still need your coffee.

  • @dutch1967 Feb 2018

Thanks Tasha, your comment on Madrid made my day!

  • @unkept Feb 2018

Thanks for the prompt, and for the comment on my song "I'm On Fire". 😁

  • @shagpile Feb 2018

@brrrse ahh thank you for letting me know.. it was bugging me hahah.. πŸ˜€

  • @jorh Feb 2018

It was a soothing listen, can’t wait to hear what else you produce πŸ˜€ happy fawm!

  • @haim  Feb 2018

So is that you playing the piano or is it loops made in the software? sounds very interesting. I like you influences, I love Billy Joel, I was in his concert in Germany a year or two ago. His story is very inspiring.

  • @aprilm  Feb 2018

Thanks! It Was On Fire nearly beat me! It was a tough one for me this time. So, went for a walk and decided to use loops! And voila! See you in the next skirmish at 11:00!

  • @tuneslayer2018  Feb 2018

Hi there! I don't remember if I played your grandfather's banjo, but I would have tremendously enjoyed and been honored to do so. And I definitely recognize the name from various conventions, so happy to see you here!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 2018

Hey Tasha! Thanks a lot for giving "Another bloody Saturday" a try! Please, let me know if you would like me to add you as collaborator...

  • @zxcvbnm  Feb 2018

Yes, I thik I'm pretty good with the theory, it's the practice that lets me down! I think BiaB will allow me to tranlate what I hear in my head, as opposed to only producing what I can with limited instumental skills.

  • @zxcvbnm  Feb 2018

Thanks @brrrse I really enjoyed doing it maybe BiaB is the answer to my lack of musical ability.

  • @inciteful  Feb 2018

Welcome back! Have a great FAWM!

  • @dutch1967 Feb 2018

Thank you for your comment on Country Singing Man, Tasha. Guess I don't have to tell you how 'authentic' is my thing. And yours as I remember. Still play your 'Telephone' song.

  • @izaakalexander Jan 2018

Thanks for the shout out, Tasha! I'm glad you're here as well! Here's to a great FAWM in 2018!!!

  • @elesimo  Jan 2018

Tasha! I love Linux, but I have mixed feelings about using it for music. It makes simple things hard, but on the other hand, it makes impossible things possible. After more than one *year* I feel I'm finally used to the workflow of connecting different apps, so I'm happy with it.

If you want to give it a try, let me know if you need any recommendations. I even created a post on the forums asking about other people using Linux: http://fawm.org/forums/topic/7696/ πŸ˜€

    Edited: hour -> year

  • @johnstaples  Jan 2018

Hey SuperSkirmish (Feb 2/3) host! I just posted my skirmish notice so if you want to use it feel free to,

    1) copy/paste its title into your new post and change all pertinent info in the title
    2) copy/paste its body into your new post and change all pertinent info in the body
