Thanks for your comments! You made it a good way through. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to work on your lyrics; I was on 13 songs about a week before the end of FAWM but then didn't have time to finish off! We'll collab in 5090, definitely smile

Hi Peter, thank you so much for your beautiful comment on my collaboration with Kristi and Val. It was amazing to read your thoughts on our song smile))

thanks for listening! "don't be the tree' was recorded not with the guitar in my avatar (tho you're close, that's a resonator guitar as well) but with a square neck wood-bodied lap style dobro/resonator guitar made by a company called 'beard'. And sure, if you want to play the song at a gig, go ahead, let me know how it went!
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
Still catching up. The muse ran away with me after a meeting mid-month...
  • justtam 2 months ago
Hi, I read your comment to gerrybhoy for sun shining in my brain. I was lucky enough to have him play a live set at a recent party and the man blew us away, the man deserves a much bigger stage

  •  musicsongwriter 2 months ago
Thank you very much Peter. This FAWM I didn't create as many as during my first one. I've joined one week later and I had more than 30. This time I barely reached 14 but I had fun. Enjoy FAWMing, still some time to post more smile
  •  thetau 2 months ago
I've got a Ukulele Song that I would like you to put to lyrics, if you are interested in doing lyrics to an existing melody

Peter--new version of City is up, using your bridge. Thanks a million. Do you want me to mark you as a collab?
  •  downburst 2 months ago
Peter, that's great! It gets at the feeling I wanted exactly--uncertain and hopeful. I'll use it, gratefully. Thank you.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for the listen and post on Cu Chulainn.
....I just saw your post on my home page..........

I understand the burnout side,,,,the 50/90 always scared me off.....I think I'd abandon my famiy.....or they would abandon me LOL.....but when you are up to it, come back to SSG. We are starting up group collaborations again.....Last week only titles....this week only back ground stories.....so it's a good time to jump back in. I'll be sure to check out your songs, too....I'm trying to get in these last 3 to go... :s

Hi Pete Murphy! It's Pete Murphy here!
Thank you for the message. It's not often I meet someone who shares my name.

I am, in fact, stuck for lyrics. It's mainly for two songs that I've written that are very different in style to what I'd normally write (they're both slow ballads). Lyrics for the other songs I'm working on are coming along slowly, but they're getting there (I hope!), but I just can't settle on anything for these two particular songs. I have all the music, all the vocal melodies, but the words.... hmmmm...

Anyway, nice to hear from you! Best wishes from England.
  • kiwafruit 3 months ago
    Hey hey smile
Here's what I'm working on with Whisper Me Wicked. Not quite got the chord progression right in a couple of spots, and I want to tighten up the harmonies, but let me know what you think so far smile http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11428912/FAWM.2012/kiwafruit-Whisper_me_wicked_DRAFT.mp3

Great comment on Zymurgy! Sounds like we have it in common. smile Listening to good music and drinking a strong fresh beer is a nice combination to me!
  •  wyatt 3 months ago
Thanks on Roll That Trestle and any comparison with Woody is good
  • kiwafruit 3 months ago
Hi Peter, thanks for the comment love on "this could've been a love song" smile
Different ukes make a different sound, mine is a Kala spruce top with spalted maple back and sides, so it's very bright and clean and loud. In comparison, mahogany tends to be a warmer and softer tone...
  •  dragondreams 3 months ago
    Thanks Peter. smile

You may be relieved to know (I was) that Frankie simply needs a new part. I ordered a new volume pot for her yesterday (no spares in stock) and it should be arriving in the mail either today or tomorrow. She WILL return! big_smile
  • kiwafruit 3 months ago
Ah ha! I remember that song! I loved the lyrics... I'll definitely work on it big_smile
    Thanks for reminding me!!
  •  downburst 3 months ago
Me too--the muse seems to be completely absent (can't blame her, with the weather we're having). My so-called band likes playing it too--we even have added a trumpet part.

I'm always up for collabs, assuming either of us ever gets the inspiration back.
  •  downburst 3 months ago
Thanks, buddy. Yes, do be careful with the rats (though I'm sure your cat was fully qualified).

I played "Bad Machines" before an audience of 3 to 70 year olds last night, by the way. Got everyone to sing along in the silly parts--it was pretty fun (by which I mean I managed to get through it without dying of fear.
  •  ange 3 months ago

Hello Peter. Thank you so much for your beautiful comment on my valentine piano piece. Your support is very special to me smile
  •  duaneclancy 3 months ago
Yes @blindkiwi ... organ solo may be done with a combination of skin flute, bone-a-phone, or possibly with the addition of labial majoral overtones to enhance the overall mix
  • crisiscouncil 3 months ago
Thanks so much for the comment, glad you like it!
  •  duaneclancy 3 months ago
Hey man ... thanks for stopping by. I've got the completed (ready for music) lyrics written in the same thread after the translating ... has a more Irish/folk/pub song feel now.

The coconut idea is great. Wish I'd thought of it. Actually, when I was writing that, I was thinking of you--I was originally thinking of a fingerpicked country blues kind of thing which I would have no hope of playing, and I thought "but my antipodean friend Peter could, I bet."
  •  artslut 3 months ago
    Thanks.
  •  artslut 3 months ago
Hey blindwiki, I'm new year what's "fringe"?
  •  fireball 3 months ago
yeah, i almost always write lyrics first before touching an instrument -- although i wish i did it the other way around more often. no genre choice: i love to try anything, although i'm musically limited. and i'm up for any topic, though i could probably come up with a list of random ideas. AND, if you come up with only partial lyrics, i could try to fill in... though you might not like the result.
  •  fireball 3 months ago
oh, and if you're doing lyrics... would you rather do them first, or hear some kinda music/instrumental for inspiration/desperation?
  •  fireball 3 months ago
hello, there, blindkiwi. i think that we got paired up for the random collaboration. i could've read it wrong. i work during the day, and am usually unavailable -- that's 8am-4pm alaska time. something like 4am-noon your time? otherwise i'm fairly available and interactive... i do live on an isolated arctic island which occasionally loses all internet. (last year we were offline from february 27 to march 3 -- annoying, as i'd saved all my fawm songs to be posted at once on the last day -- thus, last year was the first year i "lost" in terms of getting posted online...)
  • dargai 3 months ago

  • janeukey 3 months ago
Thanks for the feedback Peter, yep a snare would be cool - I just haven't found a canned version that I like the sound of and I don't have a real one sad

  • janeukey 3 months ago
Hiya Peter, yep I am venturing into FAWM territory for the first time...should be fun wink
  •  timfatchen 3 months ago
It has to be a Milligan extempore using the Bluebottle Blues with arthritic words. I've already done an Arthritis instrumental. Perhaps I'd better do Arthritis Revisited
  •  errol 3 months ago
    Yes, please, call me Errol.

    I guess I don't stalk enough. big_smile
  •  timfatchen 3 months ago
I've got the Bluebottle Blues. Let me check the record.

Hey... how does everyone know your name is Peter?! I don't know that!

I mean, I know that now... but still... I only know it because everyone's going "Hi Peter"
  •  timfatchen 3 months ago
I'm catching uP! in my case its groaning where many have groaned before, but I blame it on the arthritis.
