Artist Bio

Influences:   cats, my bride, you, the beerlight tattoo, faeries, gnomes,

Daddy (fixer of things broken), musician, geek, curmudgeon, junkyard dog, recovering perfectionist.

This is my tenth FAWM. Since moving two years ago, I now have an entirely new creative space in my loft a.k.a. The Belfry. I was right about that too because the new place does indeed have some wonderful acoustics.

I've also been diagnosed with a most severe case of G.A.S. In the past year, I seem to have acquired a lap steel, a Seagull Merlin, a home brew Tele, and three new Strats. I will try to play them all.

Crime scene photos:

One of my next projects will be reworking the guitar racks. I need room for more.

Thanks for your positive comment on my "Old Man Walking an Old Dog"
I haven't been back to FAWM recently, because i had a massive translation from Catalan into English to do (that's my line).

  • @wacha  Mar 30

Thank you very much for your kind words on "Seeds" and "Into the Ether". While I don't list Sheryl Crow as an influence, I have been listening to her most of my life and do love her music. I can see how she has possibly worked her way into my sound.

  • @kristian  Mar 29

No worries at all friend; itโ€™s all good ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @kristian  Mar 29

    Psst. Iโ€™m a dude ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ hehehe

  • @zecoop  Mar 29

Thank you so much for listening to Ivory Lace. It's always a joy when Liz writes a song with me

  • @dunwich  Mar 23

Thanks for listening and the comments! Really appreciate it.

  • @aaronnathans Mar 22

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my songs!

  • @zecoop  Mar 21

Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to listen. You can hear more from Treading Bleu online...
And Facebook etc. (Or come to the show on Friday, lol) ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @mkd  Mar 19

Thanks for your kind words! Itโ€™s true, I must try not to take these times for granted. Am blessed with two gorgeous kids, and time is flying!

  • @barbara  Mar 17

Hiya, B. Every now and then I visit those rare few truly naked songs created without censorship รกla Zen Guitar. Most of the time I don't have the guts for it. But any time I do, I'm better off. It's been a journey, but getting much better. Thanks for the listen. I'm a little disappointed with the vocals on that one; the voice is so indicative of subtle tensions. Glad to hear you are thriving!

  • @spinhead  Mar 16

I had a lot of fun with my Tenuous series. I've never done any kind of guitar instrumentals, but this Blueridge tenor keeps sneaking up on me. Glad #6 painted a picture for you.

  • @solarrainuk  Mar 16

Thanks Bob, glad you enjoyed the rest of the tracks and thanks for your sub on YouTube! I'll certainly be doing some more live eurorack pieces there throughout the year..the system is still growing too, thanks to this GAS issue I'm having! Next month will mean some major additions to the setup, can't wait ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @heuristicsinc  Mar 16

Thanks on the drum track comment. That makes me feel good.

  • @cts  Mar 5

Hmmm...well that's a bit disappointing. I'm sending it again now. Let me know if we have touchdown.

  • @cts  Mar 5

Bob - did you see my email? It has the track guide.

  • @devin  Mar 4

Good sir, try as I might, I havenโ€™t been able to make a 9/8 thing work. Clearly a limitation on my part... I tried numerous times during FAWM.

If I get my skills up, we can try again!

Or I can stick to what I know next time, and we create something attainable ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @ryako  Mar 2

"preferably in the dark with hot black Kona and amaretto"

    Hells yeah.

I wish some of my production had been better, but there just wasn't enough time and I was starting to fall apart. I'll give this album a nice polish some time this year and, when I do, I'll send you a copy.

  • @ryako  Mar 2

Oh, and will there be more to the story? The answer is probably no. I think they had their wonderful happy ending. Besides, it will be a nice challenge to think of another fun story to tell.

  • @ryako  Mar 2

Wow, you really listened to everything! Thank you so much. I really enjoyed making everything, though, honestly, I didn't know if I'd be able to finish. I had written out a kind of synopsis separated into 14 songs so that the story would have to be finished and resolved by song 14. It was a challenge trying to convey the variety of emotions because I purposefully cut back and forth from each AI, and they each had to have their own struggles and stories. Plus, the emotional tone had to shift a lot to avoid being boring, but still feel consistent with each character. Anyway, I feel like you really got it and understood it, so thank you for understanding it. Like, yeah, it's a bunch of songs about a couple AIs, but I tried to incorporate so many other themes and things in there and I hope I succeeded.

  • @cts  Mar 1

Think underwater. Think bright colors and give it your magic. Send it to me with any other flourishes and Iโ€™ll do the rest.

  • @cts  Feb 28

Congrats on the win, my friend. Y'know...I was going to surprise you with a collab you weren't even aware of. Yes, I actually finished most of it two weeks ago. I meant to check in with you, but I had so much going on and I didn't want to interrupt your creative flow you had working with other FAWMers.

  • @chasingandromeda  Feb 27

Haven't forgot about you, brother. I will be mixing our track down this evening.

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 26

Thanks Bob. Haha, I love that quote from Arthur C Clarke!

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 26

Wow Bob, amazing job you did with the guitars!! I got inspired to add more to it and extend it after hearing it altogether. Will upload quite soon after I master it! Hope you'll like the additions.

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 23

Holy cow - I haven't thought about "The Friends Of Mr. Cairo" for *decades*! I didn't even recognize the title, but when I entered it in YouTube and it began to play it gave me goosebumps. Blast from the past! Thanks for the reminder ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 22

Hey Bob, no problem at all!

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 22

Congratulations Centurion Soldier! You wrote 100 comments for your fellow FAWMers!! You made this place even better. You took your time to listen to other people's songs and you have 100 thank you's from all of them and from me! Hereโ€™s your badge. Excellent work and keep bustingโ€™ those zongs!!

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 22

Point of the first: It was probably a stealth maneuver to confuse folks with the Tom Waits title rip-off, but I still wondered if anyone would pick up on the Timbuk3 "Sample the Dog" nod. You win that prize!

Point of the second (which, strangely, always follows the first): I'm pleased to hear my other song gave you a good laugh on a rough day. That means I've won FAWM in ways that song count cannot touch.

p.s. (which, also strangely, seems to follow all that precedes it): the studio shot above is inspiring, and I'm jellus of your Ziggy poster.

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 17

Great, glad you managed to get it. I kept it pretty simple, not too much going on, plenty of atmosphere. You can just do whatever you want over the top!

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 16

    Try my dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gc6jz36d2zy...

I managed to download it myself from there using the drop down box at the top right corner of the web page.

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 16

Sorry about that, Sendspace used to be good once! I'll try and find an alternative

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 16

Hey Bob, got something for you here@: https://www.sendspace.com/file/hrb28k

It's in E flat minor. Let me know if it's ok!

  • @lhcisco  Feb 16

Def true about the capo thing. I actually try standard tuning every once in a white. Just can't get into it.

  • @mikeskliar  Feb 16

Thanks for listening! I need to get to yours!

  • @mkd  Feb 15

Aw poor Andy! They break your heart sometimes donโ€™t they?! Thanks for your comment!

  • @ryako  Feb 15

Hey, how are you doing? Sorry for this very late reply, but I just haven't had the time to sit down, reply to stuff, listen, and comment. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for listening to my crap!

  • @spinhead  Feb 2018

Re: Tenuous #2: chord SELECTION? They're happy accidents, one and all. But Harry? HOOhah. I'll take it.

  • @errol Feb 2018

Now that I finished my song, I can get started looking at yours! ๐Ÿ˜

  • @valeriecox  Feb 2018

That was a beautiful comment on my song. Thank you so much. I love your wall of guitars.

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 2018

Awesome, thanks Bob, I like both of those keys too! I'll try and get something interesting together soon ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 2018

Bob, if create some kind of atmospheric/pads ambient track do you want to try some of your really nice ambient guitar over the top? If so, what key is best for you?

  • @solarrainuk  Feb 2018

Haha, thanks Bob. I'm not sure the Tyrell Corp would trust me with their equipment. Glad you're liking the tunes so far!

  • @spinhead  Feb 2018

People who play stringed instruments shouldn't have to learn to blow through things. I don't know why I torture myself.

  • @chasingandromeda  Feb 2018

Sent the link earlier today. Let me know if you received it. It would have come from Google Drive.

  • @dragondreams  Feb 2018

More guitars!? It looks like our neighbours on both sides of the pond will need sympathy! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • @chasingandromeda  Feb 2018

I have something for you to listen to. How would you like for me to deliver it? It is a rough arrangement but the structure is good and the chord changes are there. Wanted to give you plenty of latitude.

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 2018

Bob, that is one slick-looking axe. Thanks for the pic! Is that a short tremelo arm, Gilmour style?

  • @chasingandromeda  Feb 2018

Got something heading your way shortly. It has the requested synths, but....well, it rocks a bit. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • @sapient  Feb 2018

    Now THAT'S a wall of guitars!!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 2018

Thanks for the kind words as always, Bob. Tag added on "E R E" as requested! "Congested" was a bit of both. Lead tone was from a G&L S-500 fed into a Keeley Dark Side into a Mooer Ocean Machine (which I have to resist using on *everything*) to get the basic vibe, but it was dirtied up in post with iZotope Trash 2 (which I picked up when it was on special offer at Christmas).

  • @sapient  Feb 2018

I love that photo... And I don't even like Strats... I do, however, as you have now discovered, freaking LOVE my new Telecaster. I'm just wondering why it took me so long to get one! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • @corinnecurcio  Feb 2018

Hiya Bob - Long time no see...sorta

  • @devin  Feb 2018

    Hey 1B, I started a country project in 9/8.

    Dang, itโ€™s... interesting.

I might cheat in the solo, and switch it to three repeating sets of 3/4, just to give you a fighting chance.

Stay tuned... I *might* be a while :-0

  • @heavyhedonist Feb 2018

I'll see what I can do.

  • @leslie Feb 2018

Hi Bob! No, I haven't done any more colour songs like those. I still love what you did with them. Listened to them again this past winter.

  • @errol Jan 2018

I'll always be nonsense! Don't know about the amount of writing I'll get done.

  • @solarrainuk  Jan 2018

@bking hey Bob, great to see you back, love the look of your new creative space there! You're not the only one with G.A.S. problems recently! I'll try and pop a pic onto my profile soon. Look forward to trying out a collab once I get warmed up a bit ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @petra777  Jan 2018

    *waves*

  • @ryako  Jan 2018

Hey, stranger! Nice to see you, too. Hope you are doing well!

  • @johncrossman  Jan 2018

Lovely picture there, like duck-duck-goose with strats and teles. Awesome.

  • @donna  Jan 2018

Hi, Bob. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Yes, sometimes it feels like forever, but in a good way. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • @devin  Jan 2018

BTW, I committed the two of us to write a country song in 9/8 time.

    You're welcome.

(Mind if I try a bed track, and we'll see if there's any daylight at the end of that tunnel?! The light might be a train...)

  • @dannyk1 Jan 2018

Hey Bob, it's good to hear from you again! Yeah, I'm hoping to have a more productive year this time around. Hoping all is well with you and that you will be blowing us out of the water with your amazing guitar tracks. Looking forward to hearing that new lap steel!

  • @tamsnumber4 Jan 2018

Lovely wall decorations. Very happy to see you and will drop by from time to time in hopes of listening.

  • @sherrycanary  Jan 2018

    Hi Bob

I am not snowbirding...I live here now!

  • @swampjaw  Jan 2018

Yup -- back in action this year, but no travel planned. But with luck, plenty of time to churn out some pure crap!

  • @timfatchen  Jan 2018

Bob, life is in the way big time here. We're close to working full time as ...renovators. In fairness, we're on a cruise for 10 days in February but most of the rest of Feb is fast vanishing in work. Yes, time we collabed again. No-one picked up on any of the last stuff despite pitchign. I've given up on teh money side, almost.

  • @headfirstonly  Jan 2018

Bob, that's one utterly gorgeous array of guitars you've got there.
I want to hear them ALL this FAWm!

  • @fuzzy  Jan 2018

Hey, man, good luck with FAWM!
I seem to have a tendency to pick up instruments as well, even ones I can't play (I have a trumpet I need to get around to learning to use some day).

  • @chasingandromeda  Jan 2018

Yeah, we can make that happen!

By the way, picked up one of my own this year. Mexican made Deluxe Roadhouse in the Icy Blue. Love it.

  • @chasingandromeda  Jan 2018

Any particular style in mind? Glad to see you here!

  • @phylo  Jan 2018

Wow, that's a lot-o-Strats! Looking forward to making some noise this year. Perhaps we can both see our way clear to make something together.

  • @nancyrost  Jan 2018

Wow, look at those acquisitions! And that space! Hope you'll thoroughly enjoy them this February.

  • @devin  Jan 2018

And greetings to you sir. May your fingers get scorched from fretwork, not ye olde Iron!

  • @andygetch  Jan 2018

Hey Bob, great to see you here again!

  • @johnstaples  Jan 2018

Hey there Bob! Happy FAWM 2018! And I'd love a collab!

  • @cts  Jan 2018

My good brother! So good to hear from you! Glad youโ€™re back for more FAWM goodness!

  • @chipwithrow  Jan 2018

Hey there! Indeed, we made it through Irma. It was a big ol' mess, but family, house, and business all OK. We took in a friend whose house took a hit, and she just moved back into it last week.

  • @spinhead  Jan 2018

Three new Strats. Get help, fella.

And, as far as I recall, it WAS just yesterday we met here. That, or my memory is failing, and we know that ain't true.

  • @barbara  Jan 2018

    Can it be B??
You have been given enough honeymoon time off, I think. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Glad you've come to a similar conclusion. Art, and all...

  • @valeriecox  Jan 2018

Hey there. Happy FAWMing. Looks like the cat dragged itself in. ๐Ÿ˜

  • @writeandwrong  Jan 2018

Best of luck to you during FAWM 2018!
