03-March: It's been a rough month, but I made it through. Gimpy left hand and all. There will be more music from the evil twin's evil twin this summer. But for now, I'll be listening to your music.

I wondered that, myself, re: Budgeting. I dug it.
  •  bradbrubaker 2 months ago
Hi there! I know we're on the same thread, but still wanted to thank you for listening and leaving comments. You chose a diverse range of songs and that makes me happy.
  •  devin 2 months ago
    Good FAWM Bob!

I had a great time as well, except I never completed our track. I got sick, then my family got sick, and we're just coming out of it now sad I shall post what we have so far, just so the gods know we were thinking of them...my apologies for the delay!

Truth is, for the life of me, I couldn't come up with anything cool enough to post on the bass guitar. I figured out some new styles this month, but even the original on "6 finger blues" is a very weak bassline. Maybe I need to enroll in summer school for that animal.

    You've got JYD...and I've got...ah...sick kitten? big_smile
  •  dragondreams 2 months ago
    lol

I have to use barbecue charcoal... no one round here will sell me the graphite sad
  •  dragondreams 2 months ago
Bob, once again, I'm humbled by the wonderful comments you've seen fit to leave. smile

The tone? I build my own valve amps. wink
  •  donna 2 months ago
Bob, thanks for dropping by 'Abyss'. smile The vocals, though, are @dragondreams. wink

So are you saying I sound like HIM or he sounds like ME? lol
  •  iocanepower 2 months ago
Thanks for keeping tabs on us this month, Bob! Happy to entertain you. smile
  •  cts 2 months ago
    ...aaaaaaaaand we. Have. Jelly. big_smile
  • barbara 2 months ago
You will get your own personal poke, my good man! Thanks for dropping that line in there. I am knee-deep in interviews, and all I really wanna do is write my song!! Wah!!! So this is how the other half lives? I'd quite forgotten. ;0)
  •  avidfanman 2 months ago
hi, thanks for your kind words about "Jack the Ripper", glad you liked it smile
  •  cts 2 months ago
Sir..I should have Peppers unlocked by this evening. Sorry it took so long.
  •  majormajormajormajor 2 months ago
Ditto on "Three Wishes", nice to meet another fan - poor Waters didn't get nearly enough credit for what I think is far and away the best album of his career.
  •  dustymason 2 months ago
Please do. I don't know if you saw that Elaine DiMasi has lent her voice and writing skills to a duet version. I like both. The spacious original could use another element for sure....I can always edit it smile Love that guitar work on Lost For Words!
  • dennisjernberg 2 months ago
Happy reading! Me, I'll be editing. (As in NaNoEdMo. I'll get around to listening more this month, of course.)
  •  cts 2 months ago
I'm hoping to have this ready by Thursday evening. Yours required some extra mixing and tinkering plus I just got two that were slotted ahead. Jelly is coming!!
  •  kenficara 2 months ago
Thanks! No glass harmonicas -- I'd end up spilling the water on my rig and ruining it. smile That's a regular chromatic running through the EHX POG, which is generating octaves one above and two below the original note, and detuning them a bit. Then it's going through a reverb/delay patch.
  •  devin 2 months ago
I'm on vacation with my family (who the heck scheduled this?!?), and I've got a cold to boot. I should be home in time to at least post your solo over my existing bed track...but looks like a snowstorm for the drive home, so I reserved our spot just in case my car...or the FAWM site...continues to break down wink
  •  billysea 2 months ago
Hey Bob, I see you are almost there too : ) BTW, I sent you an mp3....hope I didn't ruin it too badly big_smile
  • barbara 2 months ago
Hiya B! I've been on the Fawm-orexic plan for as long as I can stand it! Had to jump over here to tell you how much I enjoy "For Julia"! But I let myself dabble here yesterday, and ended up staying up til 2am, so I'm still on Fawm-obsession-watch!! Cheers! HB
  •  jsini 2 months ago
    Thanks for commenting!
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
... (and all the instructions in the email were for the wrong one too!) Ab is the home key, sorry. Capo up one and use G wink I haven't cleaned the volumes up in this bed, either.
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
is that your current email? oh well. If you don't get what I sent let me know...if you DO get it let me know, either way I'll edit this soundboard comment appropriately....download http://flyingtadpole.com/fawm2012/sweet_messes_1.mp3 ( I had the wrong one in the email sigh.)
  •  timfatchen 2 months ago
As a respite from teh RSI of shredding, would you like to try more relaxation music? I will shortly have a file that's...nice, mmm, sweet, mmmm, let's face it, lush but boring. Like a beautiful woman making cow eyes and all that enters the mind is thoughts of cheese, and whether there's still ice cream left in the freezer, or what's on TV tonight. You could make it lush and enticing. like a beautiful woman...
  •  devin 2 months ago
My man!!!! I have plans for your recent shred-tastic wave file.
As I was mixing it in, I was saying stuff like "hmmm...let me get my flatulent solo out of the way...ya, that sounds better...now, reduce the vox a bit...a bit more...OK, mute it completely...yes...now louder drums...OK...and *stop*.

Bass line too wimpy for this, mute that...

Look for our tune in a few days. I have to finish two big songs for IocanePower, which involve alternate tunings on the bass guitar. Once I return it to standard tuning, I'm going to attack an instrumental version of that track. I can't keep up to you with six strings, but I'm going to kick some bottom with 4 wink

    I love it!
  •  iocanepower 2 months ago
Who are these Sugar Bambies you speak of? Other fantastic duos of musical might? wink
  •  valeriecox 3 months ago
Super cool with album art. I say resoundingly, YES! Hire a sign maker to do it in neon. Would be awesome.
  •  leslie 3 months ago
It's not at all "a difficult blow." It's a step on the path to enlightenment. My brain processes much more than neurotypical brains do, and I've always wondered why others are so comparatively slow, or give up so easily when tackling a problem or subject. I am brilliant! And now I have an explanation as to why. That's hardly cause for mourning. wink
  •  solarrainuk 3 months ago
Thanks Bob! I think I probably will extend 'Candles' a little longer. After listening to it again recently, the ending sounded more like a drop/rest and felt like it wanted to get going again. Glad to hear you like it so much smile
  •  looprication 3 months ago
If you have to load.. or unload... go to the white zone. You'll love it. It's a way of life.
  •  valeriecox 3 months ago
Hey there. Thanks for the commenting on my song with Debs. That was a fun one.

I like your album art. Is that your own creation. If so, I'd like to know what software you used to create it. I'm a bit of a photoshop buff and love making album art.
  • kiwafruit 3 months ago
Hey smile thanks for the lovely comment on "Lose Myself", really glad you enjoyed it! I'm definitely keeping it wink
  •  iocanepower 3 months ago
Bob, this one's for you *24603

As much as I like the genre, I've never tried a blues before...but watching your stuff over the years, I was inspired to try. Thank you!
  • meadows 3 months ago
Thank you very much for your encrypted comment on "Public To All" - awesome idea! smile
I think you're right, "Code-Metal" seems to be my genre, and I plan to do more of it, maybe in parallel threads. Will you join me debugging it? wink

    Thanks Jens.
  •  toms 3 months ago

the blue bus is calling us.
  •  solarrainuk 3 months ago
Hi Bob! Great to see you back, have fun!
  • barbara 3 months ago
Hiya B! You sure make a (quiet) girl feel welcome! smile
Not sure if I can withstand the hurricane forces of FAWM this time around. Jury's out. If I put my toes in I'm liable to get swept away, so I'm taking a few more days of soul-searching about it. You can be sure you'll hear from me no matter what, but maybe not producing much noise. Quiet just might be the theme I go with...
  •  chasingandromeda 3 months ago
Uni-B! Good to see you back, my friend!
  • explodingmary 3 months ago
It's not my fault, i swear-- oh wait-- it could be.

  •  devin 3 months ago
You sir, are going to be pestered this time wink

I'm going to do my first ever blues song, and I dedicate it to you, because
you are the reason I'm trying!!

*that means, when the authorities begin the investigation, it's your fault*
  •  oddbod 3 months ago
Hi there...d'you think there's anyone here this year who doesn't have a ukelele?
  •  johncrossman 3 months ago

  •  timfatchen 3 months ago
I sent some emails earlier this year which died. Bob, we need to do a relaxation/meditation album together, at the standard of Warm Stone and Dojo. I'll tag things I think ought to work and wave them at you. Stilld ebating what I'm mainly intending to try for FAWM. It's going to be a bit disjointed, liek last year.
  • dennisjernberg 3 months ago
Glad to be back. I've even got a ukulele of my own. wink
  • ankari 3 months ago
I was wondering if you'd be around this year! yaaay smile
