Bio

Pursuing music professionally is not for me, but I plan to become a Music Therapist. I believe in the therapeutic power of turning a real experience into a song.

I read a lot of songwriting manuals as a hobby, and I am advanced in music theory. I play piano/keyboard, guitar, and I sing.

My songs aren't everything I wish they could be, but they are honest. Maybe a little melodramatic, but I hope to cure that problem someday. For now, I just want to make it through this challenge and create something I can look back upon.

DARN IT! The site was down last night... so I didn't get my last five songs on! I feel like a newb... I mean, I am... but still.

Wanna know something crazy? FAWM taught me something. FAWM taught me that I do want to pursue music professionally. And I need all the advice I can get. I'm so glad I tried this. I want to give music my best shot. I wanted this ever since I was two years old, and I gave up due to burnout and lack of belief in the dream last year. I was sixteen. That's just depressing! But now I know I want to try.

Hear that, world? I WANT TO TRY! So this is Alaska Rey signing off... but just for the night. I'm really grateful for all the comments. Doing FAWM taught me that it's worth it to try.

Thanks for your thought-filled comments. What you said in response to "The Devil Said Jump!" relieved me to hear that someone would give this song a second listen/chance, but also your comment helped me identify what I feel might be the central concern in putting a song like this out into the world: will people assume the voice in the song is my own? Thanks again.

I guess I should be excited about that comparison but I'm not a bit like Taylor Swift nor am I a fan of hers! Haha! But yeah, I do see the similarity between the lyrics. She, however, is the always the optimist and me...not so much. Thanks for listening!!

Hi Breevree! Thank you so much for your kind comments. Last year, I got a gem or 2 out of this challenge and I hope to get at least 1 this year. I'll be posting the tunes to go with the lyrics soon.

My favourite sister is Lena, although Bee is a pretty close second. Have you read Sisterhood Everlasting? I was bawling my eyes out when I read it!
