Bio

Resident of Austin, Texas. third-year FAWMer. Last year, I did a lot of collaborations, mostly writing lyrics and providing vocals, because, well, I didn't play an instrument. In April, however, I decided enough's enough, and I started learning how to play guitar. Yay me.

Hey great mix on Dull Surrender! I think you nailed it.
  •  airbagtester 9 hours ago
Sorry about that; I forgot that sometimes the links don't show up as links smile Glad you got it now though.
  •  airbagtester 1 day ago
Try right-clicking on the link and "save as" to your computer. If that doesn't work I can either email it to you or start a temporary song page for it like you suggest.
  •  jennsings 2 days ago
    Sure. What's your email address?
  •  jennsings 2 days ago
Hey! I've got something for Song #3, but my computer mic is worthless. I've ordered a new one, so I should have a better recording for you on Monday. These lyrics are not possibly what you had in mind when you wrote it, but that's what collabs are about, right?
  •  airbagtester 2 days ago
I made some backing tracks for your song Dull Surrender:
    http://airbagtester.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/dull_surrender-backing_music1.mp3

Unfortunately I couldn't get it to fit with the vocals and guitar you had laid down already... but I think it sounds like what you were doing and it would be awesome of you sang over it!

I can give you individual tracks if you need them for mixing; just let me know. I can also make .wav files available too but I thought I'd ask you first since they can be cumbersome to download.

BTW your singing voice is awesome smile

Probably write / sing lyrics. Vocals are really my biggest strength.
  • arthurrossi 3 days ago
Again I would like to thank you for your nice comment! you are very kind!

    GL with the guitar.
  •  tiedyehero 6 days ago
yeah definitely got a little carried away. Should sit further away form my computer. Will do when I polish up the demo a little bit. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.

I am so delinquent in these things! I am not ignoring you! Just trying to get things in order around here. You'll hopefully hear something productive from me by Wednesday.

Thanks again for your help with "This Fire," it rocks now! I agree that it's a bit sparse during the solo, but I think it's a good break from all the jangly guitars. I'm not sure what else I'd add to it, but I'm not averse to suggestions either.

The vocals sound like they're at a good level in my headphones, but I'll have to listen to it different places to make sure; my headphones have been unreliable for mixing lately. They might need to be louder; I dunno. They make the song so awesome I don't want them to sound buried!
  •  airbagtester 1 week ago
Here's a link to a newer mix where I toned down the guitar solo a bit:
    http://airbagtester.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/airbagtester-thisfirefallsover_2.mp3

I think if you repeat the chorus once more to go out it's done!
  •  airbagtester 1 week ago
Re: This Fire..." you're probably right; I've been mixing in my headphones and they haven't been so reliable. I'll dial the guitar solo down a bit. Also working on backing tracks for "Dull Surrender."

And yes by all means I'd greatly appreciate some lyrics to go with my song!
  •  jennsings 1 week ago
At the moment, I don't really have any ideas. email me what you come up with and I'll take a look at it.
  • arthurrossi 1 week ago
I listened to the song several times and I really like it! Thank you very much for this great track, the music compliments the lyrics very well as it also evokes quite a creepy atmosphere in some ways. Great performance, I also like the repetition of the 1st stanza, as far as I am concerned, I would not change anything about it (of course, unless, you would like to). Thank you very, very much for this beautiful collab! smile
  •  airbagtester 1 week ago
Sure I'll do a backing track for "Dull Surrender." I really like the song!
  • acciohaaley 1 week ago
Thaaaanks. There totally are too many words. I just didn't know how to say the same thing with fewer.
And I'm super glad your daughter's still enjoying the song even if she didn't end up singing it. (:
  • arthurrossi 1 week ago
I would be very happy if you gave it a try! smile Concerning the line "than a heart, nearly nothing's easier to break", it was supposed to express the fragility of feelings, nothing more... If you like we can change it or replace it as a pure addition of words would destroy the meter... what do you think?
  •  philkmills 1 week ago
Thanks for the Salesman's Suicide comment. Yes, you got the idea of the song...plus he has basically made the business of selling mass produced things obsolete.
  •  dragondreams 1 week ago
Many thanks, Kyle! Glad you stopped by to take a listen. smile
  • skipcoble 1 week ago
Hi mate cool to see you've picked up guitar now, looking forward to hearing your musics. First song is really cool.
  •  johncrossman 2 weeks ago
Howdy ballhyoot! You may have noticed this already, but you're on the random collab list: http://fawm.org/forums/thread/2707/

    Stay tuned!
