Artist Bio

Influences:   I just love good songs/lyrics/musicians in whatever genre, if it's good it's good.

I play bass the whole year round.
And then suddenly in february I pick up a guitar, play some keys and start to sing. Every year I promise myself to practice more on guitar and keys and take singing lessons but every year as soon as FAWM ends the keys and guitar get locked away and I don't touch them for the rest of the year and my mouth stays shut too.
Guess I'm having too much fun playing the bass.

Hey, thanks for the comment on wonderless,
Just to be nerdy here is the instrument list
All keys on this are VST's
    3 tracks of acoustic guitar (1 strummed, 1 finger picked, 1 melody/lead)
    Organ mixed back http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?...
Harmonium also low in mix doubles the chromatic line http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?...
Naf Flute also comes in on chromatic line http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?...
Violin ats as counterpoint to melody guitar ; http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?...
Mellotron woodwinds come in after first chromatic section, https://sites.google.com/site/artifak...
    I think that's it.

Hi! thanks for your feedback on “Julie Andrews”. Of course you’re allowed to say you preferred the Plumbing line 😉 And I’d love you for it! Thanks again. x

Dank je wel voor de liefe ... er, comments? (Wat is het woord?) ... op mijn liedjes! Hopelijk zie & hoor ik je volgend jaar, of in de zomer met 50/90? 😀

@alboe Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my music. I really appreciate your comments and the time you took to listen. That's why I like March. It's a great time to catch up on all the great songs. Cheers!!

Thank you for the listen and comment on Unexpected Dividend, now I have to go listen to "Arizona" since I live in Phoenix 😉

  • @jonmeta  7 weeks

I appreciate the explanation of the last line of Arizona. Of course it makes sense in the context of non-linear time. More sense (to me) as a statement that changing locations doesn’t change me. The thing is, to me the song sounds like such a sincere desire to be somewhere else, that I was expecting something like “I will write a better song”. Anyway, enough on that. However it works, it’s a beautiful song and I hope you can perform it and get other reactions.

EDIT: Was going to say, I’m impressed with how well you handle the English lyrics. I’ve never detected a mistake in any of your songs.

Thanks for the comments on Strada Alta. If I re/record it for an album, I’ll be sure to sing “Fiat seicento” instead of six hundred, now that you’ve pointed that out! It was fun to read your memory of squeezing into those kind of cars. Where I grew up in S America we had those too. The “Hillman Imp” is another one I remember. Volkswagen Beetle was a big car!

Tape 9 is up... and so worth your extra effort! 😀

You know, I think the vibe of the 4-track recordings is not just because they are analog. It's the unknown of getting a tape in the mail, possibly with no explanation of any kind, the terror of having to actually perform live with no "undo" function, and the uncertainty (having NO CONTROL over what happens when you send it to the next person). Maybe, I think, that's what gives these tapes their specialness.

  • @misterd Feb 24

Sorry for the auto correct spelling mistake -it just changed my spelling - should have been' Thankyou for breaking my zong ' .

  • @misterd Feb 24

Thanks so much for listening , breakfast Ng my Zong and the kind comments on my song 'pilgrims progress ' . I do appreciate it . Thankyou kindly

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 22

If you would ever consider a collaboration I have some lyrics that would I think work well with the orchestral style and feel of your recent song and that I would love to have a collaborator on.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 22

Thanksso much for checking out some of my songs! Your kind comments mean a lot to me!

  • @zecoop  Feb 20

And when I say 'five bands' what I am saying is that, at that point it doesn't sound like any one of them in particular and you've come up with something nicely original. It's more like, oh that guitar tone there, or that key riff. A very nice mix indeed

  • @zecoop  Feb 20

Haha... "Smell melody and a really compelling at of lyrics" - That would be my phone having fun with autocorrect! How about Sweet melody, Mr Phone? No? Smell works better for you? Anyway... I can't remember all the ones that were hitting me at the time, but the main one (to me) is definitely Men at Work (or Colin Hay). There's a bit of later Genesis in there too, I think, with the cool keyboards and changes from pop to more complex. Really nice smooth pop, but with a deeper message. That was a really nice tune with plenty of musical surprises. .

  • @cairobraga Feb 19

hej, there is actually a song/poem in portuguese that consists of reading the phonebook (in this case, the yellow pages): https://youtu.be/Ixz21PoD-AA

  • @zecoop  Feb 15

"You have to get someone to sing on this one"
OK... I got someone to sing on that one - Karl killed it!! A friend also added lead

    Thanks for your comment! <3

  • @ampersandman  Feb 12

Hey, thanks for your nice comment. I have no idea about music theory, so it's always great when a savvy person tells me what I did there.

  • @pumpkinhead Feb 9

You've got some really nice songs here. i Like! Harmonies and ideas going in all sorts of directions is really my cup of tea. Brilliant!

  • @dunwich  Feb 9

I love Fracture too! Here's my attempt at it from a while ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYo8r...

  • @pabrizzer Feb 8

Thanks for the listen to The Way it Goes.
That was me playing the harmonica.

  • @majordanby  Feb 8

Thanks for listening to Be Good Be Else Be Gone. This is the first full song I’ve written in a longtime and it came from nowhere. I initially found the chords, whilst recording them for reference I ad libbed the words. Dan’s a fan of Radiohead, I’m not really so not sure what I was thinking. The muse obviously has his/her reasons. (Karl).

  • @sciren  Feb 7

Same to you! I’ll be listening, and looking forward to your feedback as usual! Happy FAWM!

  • @cowex  Feb 4

Thanks for the kind words! So far, all my instrumentation this year has been via VSTi, so you're spot on. I think they're all Komplete 10 Ultimate instruments.

The Crazy/Stacy/Lazy bass uses the "Scarbee Pre-Bass - Amped - Punchy" instrument via Kontakt 5. Looks like I didn't even mess with EQ/distortion/compression for the bass track either, so that's a pretty faithful example of the sound. It's a really fun/expressive instrument to play with.

I was also really impressed by the "Jazz Guitar" Band instrument, as heard on the left channel of my Poop song (though I'm not sure if it comes with Kontakt or part of some other set). I'm not great at playing a real guitar, so getting that sound with MIDI felt so good.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions I can help with!

  • @misterd Feb 4

    *waves*

  • @ayehahmur  Jan 25

Thanks for the kind words! I enjoyed yours too. As a fan of proper 70s easy listening I could see this being sung absolutely unironically by Tony Bennet or Perry Como. And that's very much a good thing.

  • @mosley  Jan 23

Hey! Happy FAWMing! Thanks for checking out my tune, glad you were digging it 😀

  • @sph  Jan 22

I could copy your bio and use it as mine. It's the same for me
