I tries to keep it light and fluffy. Sometimes it works.
Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist, storyteller and music teacher. Always looking for new people to jam with and play shows and throw around ideas!
I was really going to try to get more involved with the FAWM community this year, but this February has been so wacky for me so far that I don't know if I'll be able to. 😞

HA! I totally got the joke 😀. I was cracking up reading the hashtag.
Thanks for the comment (and much-needed scolding) on my song "Forget Me!" I didn't realize just *how* negative those liner notes were until you pointed it out. I may clean them up... 😝
I'm glad you were able to get some enjoyment out of it, and to be fair, I liked many of the individual parts I contributed. I just felt that it was kind of an amorphous blob, and while I'm normally pretty good at finding ways to give things cohesion, I just couldn't this time around.
Congrats on your FAWM finish line, and happy March to you!
Send me a track with you beatboxing to my Song Tug and I'll include it in the Mix. 😀
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments on Ripples and Ponds; it really means a lot to me! I'm so glad it didn't drag for you because that was my biggest concern. I didn't want to write one of THOSE folk songs that just dragged on and on and on.
I like your comments on the orchestration, and I think I may just leave it pretty simple. Maybe add a bit of guitar in here and there for bass, but not much else. It really does keep with that tradition more so than something complex would.
I so wish I could've done more on FAWM. There were so many songs I wanted to write and so many songs I wanted to listen to and leave comments on. Unfortunately, my course load this semester has been pretty taxing, and I just wasn't able to. 😞
But again, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, and I do hope to see you next year!
Thanks for your comments, man! I was away from FAWM for a little bit, but I'm back now.
Thanks so much for the invite! Unfortunately I work Saturday until 9 so this weekend isn't good for me. I wish I could join though. Perhaps some other time. I haven't played out in a long while but I'm interested in getting back into it.
I watchlisted you as well and will check out your tunes as soon as I find some time. Thanks for reaching out and good luck with the show tomorrow!
Heya! The Fawmcast is a once or twice a week live podcast on BTR (blogtalkradio.) The next one is Sunday 9:30 AM CST (3:30 london) and you can see that same info on the forum thread: http://fawm.org/forums/topic/7265/ (Also there is a link to listen in that thread.)
I am intending one more fawmcast on Tuesday evening (cst) as well. I'll post the link in the forum and on the facebook group.
Hi Abud! Thanks for your kind words on my song and for the invite to the showcase! I definitely want to check it out, but I have a few sound-related questions that I'll email you about. Thanks again!
what! you already won!!! now i will go listen to your stuff. thanks for the comment and invite to saturday! It's hard for me to get up to Glencoe so I'm not sure I'll be able to go, but I'll tell my other Chicago fawm friendz about it.
Hey yo, thanks for the thoughtful comments on my song! You're pretty awesome yourself.
I definitely want to animate LaLa. My husband is a graphic designer and illustrator and I've told him that when he's not busy with projects he needs to animate some of my kids songs. I have a lullaby that would lend itself to animation as well. Thanks for listening!
Hee! I would love to collab, my dear! Anything specific in mind? 😁
And also, please tell me more of these shadow vowels of which you speak! I'm pretty conscious with breathing and phrasing so breathing where I did was definitely intentional, but I'm so intrigued by the idea of shadow vowels, now - I've never heard the term! I googled and think I understand it, but would love a concrete example! ❤️
Regarding my "Speak" song, I warned folks in the liner notes that it got heavy. It only sunk in what I had when I was typing up the words.
"Holy crap, what did I just make? This is _heavy_."
So, yeah, feeling profoundly sad from listening to it is an expected response. If you want a much more light-hearted song of mine, you should try "Stuffed Cannibal". (Nobody dies and it has a happy ending!)
Yo! Way to get to 14 already!
re: filter on Bacon, You Are The Best Thing
I THINK the vocal filter affect is a Soundtoys plugin. Microshift or Little AlterBoy. One of those I believe.
Thanks for the comment!
Well! How cool is that song!!! Love the easy jazzy feel and the incredible vocals! Totally awesome!!!! Love it!!!
Thanks for visiting my song and your kind comments. I really appreciate your feedback! 😀
And if you want to make it more neutral you can take out FAWM and put life's and instead of February put crazy world or something like that! Up to you if you want to keep it a FAWM song or make if more universal
Absolutely!!! I would love that! Thanks! And I need to get busy listening to the work you have already done!
Thanks for your lovely comment. I've had a lot of practice at creating decent demos in a short space of time. 😀
Thanks loads for the comments and i promise to get aroun to listening to your , wow. 8 tracks when i can get regularly working wifi
Thank you so much for your comment on Down at the Solstice Ball. So glad you liked it!
oh shit, you're right... I totally ripped off "Natural Woman" 😳 😂
Thanks so much for the kind words...
Aww, thanks for the kind words on my collaborations with Josh and Tim. If you see any lyrics you like please feel free, it's been an all lyrics all the time year for me so far this year, I've made no recordings.
Can I just tell you how much I approve of your influences on your bio? I love Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn and the Carolina Chocolate Drops! Yes! Yes! Yes!
And thank you for your lovely feedback on the stories I've been writing and fleshing out this month. I so appreciate your words. Their the best words!
I'm catching up on reading, listening, and posting songs this weekend, looking forward to hearing yours! And I hope to be at the FAWM open mic at the end of the month too!
Thanks for listening and commenting on my song...I did that shoo-bop thing too, wish I had a room full of female singers!
Yes and always. I'm back around in April and May and will come over every day with coffee.
Thanks dude! I'll get better demos up after this Wisco adventure and I'll keep that advice in mind. Maybe I'll double the vocals on that line.
I like yooooooouuuuuu.
I love Pat Metheny, but I wasn't aware he'd influenced that lastest song so much until you mentioned it. 😁
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop by, listen and comment on my twiddlings. It really is very much appreciated! 😀
As if my songs are really about anything else.
Shoop shoop Shake it!
Hello hello! Happy FAWMing!
