Re: the number of songs on my page:
1) @nathansurles's hilarious song isn't really a collaboration. I'm leaving it marked as one because he wrote it about me. It doesn't count into my song total.
2) most of my solo songs are written well within an hour or two. I spit the lyrics out, I spit the music out, I move on. That's what FAWM is for. I intend to revisit the best ones and fix them up nicely after FAWM's over.
3) I'm kind of a bum.

Even if it was a girl, it still ruined my perfectly lonely valentine's day
@shanepalko Mar 6
It is ridiculous(ly awesome) how many songs you finished!
@marvsmooth Mar 5
I've changed the music for the song Declaration now.
@tcelliott Mar 5
THIRTYONE SONGS?!? WHAT THE.....
*edit: Just read the liner notes and don't be sorry. Screw em if they don't like you being prolific.
@ereganful Mar 4
Thanks for the feedback!! Wish I could chill with all you cool DE folk!
@esthomas Mar 4
Thank you for your lovely comment Em! Of course we should collaborate!! I was blown away by winter wood when I heard it a few weeks back (it's now in my on-the-go playlist on itunes ) would be super awesome to throw some ideas around. I'm trying to get around to do some more listening and commenting so I might be back later to listen to the rest of your songs!
@jennsings Mar 4
Thanks for my first March comment! Yay! Glad to know that I am not rechecking regularly in vain!
@kristi Mar 4
Hi...fellow McKeever... (though I married into the name!). Well, you know, it's not that common a name...so, hey...cool! Thanks for your nice comments on my lyric, "Naturally." I never quite know how to tag songs...but that's one of my favorites this FAWM. Thanks for your thoughts!
@timmyriordan Mar 4
Thanks for checking out my songs. I always swoon a little when someone compliments my voice, or any aspect of my voice. It hasn't always been a strength.
@johnstaples Mar 4
Thanks for your kind words! Yeah it can be a real challenge hooking up with so many nice folks! Later tonight I'll come back over and check out some of your songs!
@marvsmooth Mar 4
Thank you so much for your wonderful words about the song Before The Sun, which I was thinking along similar lines. The only problem though is that I don't own a banjo and can't play one
Lots of listening to do here
@burrsettles Mar 3
thanks, and congrats on another successful FAWM!
@mccannrs Mar 3
Thanks! You too! I think next year I'm not gonna worry too much about getting the full 14, but we'll see what happens.
@jsherling Mar 3
Thanks for listening to "Hide and Seek", Em. One thing I do appreciate about FAWM is that people can read the lyrics as well as listen. I almost always pour my heart into songs and at open-mics I often wonder if people can grasp enough of what I've worked so hard to craft. Congratulations on finishing 31 songs this year!
@timwint Mar 3
Thanks for your constructive comments on Scattered Away. I really appreciate it. Yeah, I get hung up on the recording. Never can get it right. I'm weak on rhythm so my guitar strumming is choppy. If I ever get it close to right I hesitate to change. My real instrument is Dobro but it's not much of a solo instrument and I can't sing and play.
@lazyafro Mar 3
well I do enjoy a good video game song... or all of them
congrats on the double FAWM win!
@glyne3 Mar 1
Thanks very much for your kind comments on my song "Awake". Happy Birthday!!
@johnnyjustice Feb 28
Emkeev, the ukulele player and I are best friends. Thanks for listening to our song on my birthday!
@cowboysikora Feb 28
thank ya kindly! now i have time to sit back, listen to everyone elses and give some good feedback. you won... twice, with a remainder of 2. you crazy!
@natrin Feb 27
You have more songs than days in the month.
@errol Feb 27
One day, we'll have to collab too. *sigh*
@nathansurles Feb 27
Wow! 28 songs!! I hope you are remembering to eat and sleep this month!
@toddchappelle Feb 27
Sing harmonies with me on "Morning People" at the showcase on 3/16.
@jelfers Feb 26
Em. I like how at least two people have written songs mentioning you. Myself included.
@songsville Feb 25
Em, thanks so much for the nice comment. And congrats on the double win! I just wanted to say that I have only been trying to write folk songs since September, and when I heard your Second Chance Waltz I just had to find out what on earth an Appalachian Dulcimer was (over here , dulcimers are hammered like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxjpYHhfRyI -- anyway when I realised I could tune my guitar DADDAD I was away, and it has totally made my FAWM, so thanks a million!
@kingwoodkowboy Feb 23
emkeev, thanks for your comment on You Were My Only One. By the way, you are welcome to wear out your ukulele on these lyrics:
@wolfkier Feb 23
All ears hear all things. That's why an opportunity like FAWM is a blessing.
Enjoyed. And like I said it was my 150th zongbust so, very special in more than one way.
Congratulations on your nearly double FAWM win! That's quite an achievement. I'm sure you'll make the big 28 by Thursday. Again, Happy Birthday on the 27th and happy ZBAD today! Lots to celebrate.
@raygungirls Feb 23
Thanks so much for coming by and checking out my music. Glad to have your input!
@nathansurles Feb 22
Ok... I see 25 songs on your board! That is amazing! You must be writing songs mid-conversation on the way to the grocery store!
@errol Feb 21
*LAUGH* Then I shall tweet the vid!
@revgwild01 Feb 20
Great to see you this evening!!
@matthewhalley Feb 18
@clark2013 Feb 18
Have you set up the lineup for Extreme pizza FAWN show? I 'd like to do a few songs if you have an open slot.
Wow, 21 songs already! Very impressive Em!
@stephenhero Feb 15
Hey em, good meeting you guys yesterday, see you Tuesday hopefully!
@conghal Feb 15
Hey, thanks so much for your comment and for making me transcribe the lyrics, here they are: http://fawm.org/songs/4135/
Very nice thoughts, keyboards are definitely not my strong suit but I like the idea of arpeggiating things and I might try to reprise some rushed songs if I manage to finish a ton more rushed ones first. I'm noting your page and I'll try to come back and comment on things (but definitely not all of them, jeeze) when I'm less pressed for time.
@thrownfree Feb 15
Thanks for the kind words, emkeev. You're absolutely shredding this FAWM (is that how you'd say it?)--super prolific, but lovely craftsmanship too. Keep 'em coming.
@revgwild01 Feb 14
Thank you for your sweet comments. I will be taking some time tomorrow to catch up on my listening and I am starting with you!!
@matthewhalley Feb 13
i have a lot of listening to catch up on
@matthewhalley Feb 13
geez, how did you possibly manage to write all of the songs??
@natrin Feb 13
You have so many songs.
@errol Feb 13
ALLLOOOO EMKEEV! Great song output!
@wander Feb 12
Thanks for your comment! And welcome at the end of the world...
@the3queens Feb 12
WOW! 15 songs...you are on fire!
@alyssa2 Feb 11
Haaa. Yeah. We're pretty weird. I knew you'd appreciate it, though. Or be entertained, at the very least.
@erinkelsey3 Feb 10
Dude. How do you have 13 songs. It is February 10th.
@nathansurles Feb 10
Thanks for the comment Em. Wow! It looks like you are almost done 14 songs!
@wyatt Feb 10
Did you come up with something for Heaven's Bright City? Marvsmooth inquired about it again
@shanepalko Feb 10
(If you want. I met a kind guy who is letting me sleep in his office/use his computer for a couple of days in Bangkok.)
@shanepalko Feb 10
Send me a song with a little space in it sometime in the next 2 days, and I can lay a track or 2 over it.
@synapsis Feb 8
Have I got a little treat for you!!! I mastered winter wood for you... I mean, mastering an mp3 is like not the best thing to do... but it still brings up the volume, presence, and that delicate plucking, and makes everything glue together a bit more.... I used forest echo for the master verb... just a little....
hope you like it!!
@natrin Feb 8
re: Doug chorus group recording - YES
@aaronnathans Feb 8
Thanks, Em! It's good to be an adjective. I like it. I think you're an adjective, too.
@erinkelsey3 Feb 7
well. I'll admit that I don't regularly taste vomit. But I do work at a doggie daycare, so the smell enters my mouth more often than I would like to admit.
@the3queens Feb 6
You're gonna be 27? I would've guessed 20 or 21!
@kevinreid Feb 6
Probably won't be ready until Sunday night or Monday!
@lazyafro Feb 6
Awesome! I'll send you an email, that will be easier.
Also! I don't know what you use to make music, but check out the 'Magical 8-bit plugin.' I don't have the patience for "real" chiptunes, so the plugin gives a pretty authentic chiptune sound to midi instruments and it's what I use for making them
p.s. the melody IS shifting back and forth. keeps it interesting, and you're not crazy
@alyssa2 Feb 5
SIX SONGS IN FIVE DAYS? you're a maniac!!
...in the best way possible.
@gvgeis Feb 5
I'm game... anytime - really. Doin' nothin' otherwise...
@marvsmooth Feb 5
@emkeev and @wyatt - I'd be happy to see what Em comes up with and add bits if you like. I'm having trouble at the moment being able to get to my instruments to write the music for the songs I have started (three up on my page and I have another three sets of lyrics with music needed that I haven't posted up yet). They are semi-permanently stuck behind my muse's items.
I like the idea of mixing things up musically - one of my favourite pastimes
@brownium Feb 4
Emkeev - many thanks for your comments on All Of Me *54 . Your introduction of the idea of a first-fruits offering lead to my first song both last year (Psalm 23) and this year. What a great idea. And don't feel bad about @gregscheer beating you to the punch - he's always stepping on people's toes. Actually, Greg's a great guy, and a fantastic musician. Give his stuff a listen if you haven't yet.
@gvgeis Feb 4
@wyatt Feb 4
OK, Marvsmooth may do a version of Bright City with mandolin and penny whistle but myself, I don't see that hurting ,so go ahead and work up the dulcimer thing if you want.
@temily Feb 4
Thanks for your comment on "Is There Anybody Out There". I am slowly figuring it out, I do have a couple of close friends who I can share with and I may try and find someone who can fill more of the mentor role too, which would be nice. Thank you so much and thanks for listening
@mattblick Feb 4
thanks for the comment Em and thanks for making the challenge. I Appreciate your holy toe up my backslidden butt every FAWM time!
@wyatt Feb 4
On "Bright city", I think Chip is working on it. I'll check with him
.. He won't be using a dulcimer though I don't think. A possibility of 2 different versions if it was agreeable to all. or you joining in with another instrument if that'd work.
As to 14, yeah, the muse is front n' center this year for sure. I'm trying to keep up with [ @Donna } and I'm STILL behind !!!
@mccannrs Feb 2
Thanks for the great feedback on my first fruits song, I really appreciate it! I thought putting the electric in was a bit risky cause I wasn't sure what people would think, but I'm glad I did now.
@toddchappelle Feb 1
Oh, and I want to hear a song on the teapot, too.
@toddchappelle Feb 1
Hey, here's a title for you:
"Ain't No 'Dull' in This Dulcimer"
@wolfeman217 Jan 31
Can't wait to hear these songs sprung from your brain.
@benny256 Jan 31
Happy FAWM!!! Looking forward to the new stuff!
@jamracko Jan 31
I haven't been this excited for something in a long time!
@toddchappelle Jan 31
That sound you just heard was Em's brain exploding from FAWM euphoria.
@wyatt Jan 31
A FAWMing we will go, A FAWMing we will go !!!
@aaronnathans Jan 31
Yo! Happy FAWM!
@matthewhalley Jan 30
this fawm is going to be epic, i have a feeling
