I love bluegrass and sad songs. Other influences from traditional country, folk, and celtic music will certainly factor into the equation, but I want to take some time over this next month to focus on those themes and sounds that first drew me to bluegrass and have kept me coming back over the years. It is about time I pulled out that mandolin and put it to good use.

Over the past few years I have mostly been recording songs for SongFight! as The BeWells.

Update: As February comes to a close, I only have one song written with words and music. This pretty much confirmed that I really need to work on writing lyrics. Apart from that one exception, I was unable to put much more that four lines together. After going through all the other attempted songs, I will salvage another nine as instrumentals. I will be working on recording all of those in March and getting back to update the songs here.

And I still have not actually opened my mandolin case since January. So much for good intentions...there is certainly much room for improvement next year.

March Update: It looks like demos will have to wait until April. I'll be off on vacation until the end of the month and will get back to recording when I return.
