BTW, later I'm doing an overhaul of the "Blogroll" section on my WordPress pages ... I'd like to add yours. I'm finding there are a lot of us out there that talk music. Although most of the time, I have no trouble coming up with song ideas ... problem is usually getting the time to record! I was helped out in a big way by the bad weather big_smile

Thanks for your comments on my blog -- you should have given me a link to your FAWM page! I had a look at your songwriting blog, and it looked interesting. I've bookmarked it for a return trip.

haha, Tom, no need to hide that! Some stuff like Metallica is great (your voice is very strong like the lead singer, the name I would need to look up). I am a big (90s) Guns-N-Roses fan.

thanks for the update, Tom! Can't wait to hear it!

Yes, Yes, Yes -- please do take "Candles and Flowers" and see what you come up with -- I will be thrilled to have you work on it. Thank You!

Mr. Slatter -I saw in the collab forum that you might be interested in using other people's lyrics...mine up up for the grabbing, if anything there inspires you. I have many more to write before months end, so hopefully SOMETHING will be worthy of a tune smile
    Thanks! -- Ellen

I have to say, I loved Spinning the Compass. Brilliant album. Your FAWM songs are sounding great.

Ah, I see -- I did an entire series of articles on odd time signatures back in the day. Here's the one on the 5-groove:

    http://bmccosar.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/rhythms-in-five/

That's probably where I went could have added some complexity. I should have used another drum to get a counterrhythm going, one of my 5-claves, superimposed over the 3:2 straight 8 5-groove.

Thanks for your comment on "My Secret Word for Dragonfly" -- odd, I don't think it sounds like Take Five at all. Maybe that's because T5 is swing, and this one is straight 8ths? At any rate, it's something that's come up in two comments now, so I probably ought to compare the two.

Try now. My Wi-Fi's been playing up, and it took me an hour and a half to upload that track. hmm

Sorry - newbie. Posted my song comment here... yikes
  • "@Kim o' the Conrete Jungle - Good song. Reminds me a little of Nick Cave. In a good way."

Thanks for the comment. I get the Nick Cave comparison a lot. But I can live with that. smile
