Volunteering As A Reviewer

If you are willing to volunteer as a reviewer for this year’s compilation, send email to cd4@fawm.org with the word “volunteer” in the subject line. This will involve listening to and giving detailed feedback on probably 20-30 songs (depending on the number of submissions and volunteers) over the course of about 2 weeks in early October. Please also include a list of fawmers you feel you would not be able to objectively judge (band mates, best friends since childhood, etc.).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What does "peer review" mean?
A. Each song will be listened to and given feedback by three to five volunteer reviewers. The final selection committee will then use these reviews to help guide its decisions in curating the CD. (This is very similar to how academic publications and some museum exhibitions are done.) We're trying out this method in hopes of giving every track a fair listen, and to get multiple perspectives on each song.

Q. What counts as a "collaboration"?
A. Any FAWM 2008 song that was co-written during February. Collaborations with non-fawmers are OK, but the song as a whole should have been completed or at least sketched out to near completion during February. (Not lyrics only during FAWM, and music by someone else sometime later.)
